Poll: What's Your Verdict On The Gears Of War: E-Day Beta?

Overall, I’m seeing a lot of excitement on social media. Personally, I’m loving it so far — I’m having a blast with the Horde Siege mode.
What’s great is that this multiplayer beta is actually being used to improve the game based on player feedback, and the team is pretty responsive. I can’t wait to see the campaign as well.

Of course, there will always be things to improve, but what’s reassuring is that Xbox, as usual, is listening to the players.

I've done my time in gears multiplayer over various gears games going back to gears 2 I don't really want to play it anymore what I did play of the beta multiplayer seemed really unbalanced and active gnasher shot can one hit kill from miles away the movement is great but the guns and active reloads need balancing in my opinion.
As for the "horde" siege mode I found it tedious and joyless to play it's not fun like the actual horde mode from previous gears games.
That said I'm looking forward to the campaign but other than that I'll probably just head back to gears 5 for the actual real horde mode and multiplayer if I want to play it.

@Mr-Cage Gnasher needs work for sure. Hit detection seems random. I think they should go back to where the gun is pointing (like gears 2, 3, 4, and 5) rather than "center screen" like gears 1. Seems like a step back.

Had ago today but only to get the feel of the new button layout etc and see the games graphics etc.
Got used to it all and can’t wait for campaign release. E Day.

Kudos to Coalition for trying to evolve the series and not just doing sony style “safe sequel”. Rather criticize the new decisions than play same game again with better graphics.
And much respect to Asha for making a tentpole franchise exclusive - at least I wont hear from folks how they are playing “best” vsrsion on PS5 PRO.
Overall having only one console on the market that is just superior is not good for the industry - they got very anticipated wolverine so at least we have something to look forward made for this community.

I played the training mission on my XBOX ALLY (White model) and had a blast with new mechanics. Playing on 720p using FSR 4 and quality with low was still good on a 55inch 4K TV.

@Fiendish-Beaver It looks like a part of the overall map in the game but it's definitely a different area to the siege map.

I'll only be playing the campaign, but I have high hopes.

@FatGuyInLilCoat Yeah it definitely feels off to me how it played.
Gears 4 for me had the best version of PvP multiplayer.
Active reloads should give you an advantage aswell but what I've played from the first weekend was ridiculous tbh.
Unloading the best part of a clip straight away just to be competitive in the game is no fun!

Based on what I've seen and heard so far, It looks like I'll just be playing the Campaign and on to other games very quickly.

I was never a Fan of the Gears of War PvP modes but Horde mode, at least the Traditional build defences to survive the Wave as the only team on the map - and the Beast mode version where you play as the Locust was my favourite mode and kept me playing long after the campaign.

I just hope the Campaign delivers - although 4 and 5 were a bit of let down as they moved further away from the 'griity horror' that the 'of War' aspect gave us. They, along with Hivebusters, were OK to play but not as memorable or as dark, gritty as the earlier games which I prefer.

I gave horde siege a good go tonight but I found it too chaotic, too confusing. It's not the more focused old school horde I wanted.
Will still enjoy the campaign but have lost interest in the multiplayer.

Not enough to say for sure, but I'm very pleased.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around Siege. You got 3 teams on the same map, but there's not much interaction. It's really just you and your 3 other squadmates while you have 8 other players running around doing their own thing. You can back them up from time to time, but there's no clear incentive to do so.

The concept is great. I just hope they make it more clear what it is you're supposed to be doing.

Versus on the other hand is certainly an improvement. I was never much of a fan of Gears' PvP just because matches always devolved into the boring mosh pit of shotgun, shotgun, shotgun.

Fortunately it appears that simply rushing in with the gnasher is no longer the viable brain-dead strategy it used to be. The shotgun is still very strong, but more situational. At least now if someone blasts me to pieces, it's my own fault for letting them get that close.

@Mr-Cage I felt the same way. The balance is definitely off.

I'm having an ok time. I love all the new movement, but as a person who was previously a competent player, it's pretty humbling to be as bad as I am in versus. Trying to "get good" though. Looking forward to October.

Mega fan of horde mode since its introduction in Gears 2 and I'm loving siege. The bones are here for what might be the best horde in the series. That will be determined with what it looks like at launch and what ongoing updates look like.

Yeah they look to be different location sections from the overall map which I guess will be the world map for the campaign.
It's definitely going to be interesting to see what they do about a classic horde mode.
It seems loads like the new siege mode I tried my best to like the mode myself but I just found it tedious to play not fun.
If there isn't a proper horde mode I don't see myself wanting to play more after the campaign is finished I'd rather go back to gears 5 maybe eventually get to the top level haha 😂

Not a fan. But that's expected. I only really liked Gears 1 and 2. Back when they were cover shooters, that was fun.

For everyone saying it was unbalanced... that's kinda the point of a beta. Let them know so they can work on it for the final release.

I have about 60 hours in between the two weeks.. 95% of that is in Siege, I played like 4 or 5 rounds of MP not really my jam..

I am going to be interested in how they are going to deal with the difficulty. There are going to be 30 class levels, and at level 10 it's a cake walk with a half competent team.

I am also wondering if there is going to be a solo mode where I don't have to join other players.. Granted, there were a few time I got my wish because people all quit before the match started.

While I do really enjoy this, I would like a mode more akin to traditional horde mode. When they did an update on Saturday I hopped on 4 for a bit. After having to retrain my muscle memory lol.. I do really hope they have something.

At level 10 with fully modded guns all the classes are pretty fun. Medic and Sniper and Assault at level 10 with their respective class guns are pretty powerful. Breacher and Assault super abilities are underwhelming, especially the Assault.

For me the game played great on the series X and it played amazing on PC after tweaking.. I have a Ryzen 9 5900/ 7900XTX, 64GB and I was running 4k getting 70fps Turned off everything Ray-tracing, lowed a few settings from ultra to low and FSR4.

I am looking forward to October 1st. I have a week off work, one of my buddies is flying in for 5 days so we can play it!!

I have been loving Siege. IMO the best Horde mode in the series and is a much needed refresh to the series. Day 1 purchase for me.

Horde Siege is very good, versus again is just shotgun rolly polly spam fest. Straight up garbage that should have been changed.

I'll run through campaign and play Horde Siege for as long as it feels fresh/enough content but that's probably it. As someone that played hundreds of hours of Gears 1 and Gears 3 versus I'm tired of the lack of good balance already for E-DAY versus.
