It's a cool looking device. I travel a lot and would be tempted, probably in the cheaper model, IF it played more than 5% of my owned Xbox games. But I have zero interest in gamepass, and barely any of my 150 or so owned digital Xbox games would be playable on this. So pass. I don't consider it an Xbox any more than my kettle is.

I mean, even flipping Skyrim isn't play anywhere, so won't work on this without rebuying it, or paying to rent it. This is not an Xbox console, so I can't even see why it's covered on this site.

As an Xbox owner, I have no interest in this handheld PC. Still surprised why you are so obsessed with it? It doesn't play my Xbox games, it isn't an Xbox!

I own all 3 consoles, and am far too old to give a fek about console wars, but I genuinely can't see xbox consoles being around much longer. I've seen this all happen before (Dreamcast).

And it could be the most powerful system but will developers bother to spend time optimising games for it when 5-10 times more people own PS systems?

Nobody is buying Xbox now. A mega powerful, mega expensive PC console hybrid certainly won't appeal to PC players, or PS players, or Switch owners.

@Ricky-Spanish not necessarily, for many years xbox was my only console, and I never bought into gamepass. never interested me, I like to buy games!

I can't be the only person here who doesn't have game pass, haven't done for over a year. Have only ever had the lowest tier in the past, to play online, but the xbox just gathers dust now. was never interested in renting games.

considering the base game was a 6/10 I can't see more of the same, overpriced, deserving more than a 4 or a 5 then...

@XberOne for me, Returnal, Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart, Helldivers 2, the 2 Horizon games, Uncharted 4... not saying any in particular are better than Gears, more that there are lots of different options whereas that isn't the case for arcade open world racers...

Not that surprising... FH5 still a fairly new game in a genre not represented very well on PS... Gears (which I love) rather outdated, and certainly not close to being the best shooter on PS

I have all 3 consoles, so no horse in this race ( if there even is a 'race' ), but I would be very surprised if Sony suddenly put all the God of War, Spiderman, Astro Bot, Uncharted, Last Of Us, etc games on Xbox consoles.

I mean, it may very well happen, but I just don't see it..

It's definitely something that Sony and Nintendo do better, i.e. not at all.

will be replaying Gears campaign on my PS5 at 4pm, then dropping into helldivers to help some new recruits.

Nope, no interest for me. Don't want a gaming PC, mobile or otherwise.

It's not for me, but at least they were clear, finally, and said what it can and can't do. It plays PC games, and you can stream your console games from the cloud.

last time I checked, about 5 of my 100+ console games were play anywhere... most of my Xbox first party games aren't even play anywhere.

let me know when ALL 100+ of my xbox console digital library is certified. then I'll be interested in this...

also, how is it 35 physical and 50 digital (actually, 60 as this is the deluxe edition)? those prices should be the other way around

Enjoyed my time with it but will never play it again. Zero replay appeal for me, unlike Skyrim for example, where you can have genuinely different builds.

I actually applaud the soundtrack changes, it's in line with the ethos of the original games, introduce people to new bands... the exact same soundtrack would have been disappointing... it''s a remake, so changes are implied!

I only ever played THPS 1-3 back in the day, so none of the cons in the review are cons for me. Can't wait to play this!

@Ooccoo_Jr some people have an almost religious like devotion to their corporation of choice. not just here, you see it on PS and Nintendo sites too. It's really strange, but these brands seems to be their entire identity and so they won't hear a thing against them! Quite odd.

brand killing decision - if only they had hired some competent upper management and gotten control of the many many studios they already owned...

Would be a brave studio to pitch this, even if Xbox fund it... what are the odds it gets canned before it's finished!

I mean, I would be amazed if Xbox funded this game, doesn't seem to align with the sort of tentpoles they are getting behind.

... and answering the question, IMO it's too late for banjo... for a REAL banjo sequel. I'd love something that captured the magic of the first game, but I just can't see it. How many modern gamers (not those of us who visit these websites) would even know what it was? It would be launching a new franchise for all intents and purposes, it's been that long. I'd love to see it, but at last Sony now have Astro, so it's not just Mario games scratching that itch.

Very interested to see how this pans out, but simply baffling to me! Can't see what new users this sort of thing attracts, and while it would be fantastic for those who have an Xbox and no PC/PS, it would lose MS so much in software sales. Until they announce specifics, it's all guessing, but what people are assuming / hoping for just seems a strange choice!

it's staggering, but not surprising, how many people online seem to think this is a portable xbox, and that they can play all of their XBOX games (purchased on console) on it.

I honestly think XBOX has been a bit naughty in how this was advertised, as the average bloke doesn't seem to realise this is not what they think it is. They think it's a portable xbox, not a windows handheld!

We had Gears E-Day, Fable, Perfect Dark in the showcase a year ago, they haven't released, and nothing this year, so while last years was great, the games I was most excited for are now 2026 or later

I wish they would only shows games that are coming out SOON, not 2+ years away...

I was half tempted by this new ROG handheld til I checked the list and practically none of my Xbox owned games are on it. Even the MS owned ones like Fallout 4. Hard pass.

No Fable, no Forza, no 'A', but that was pretty good!

@Kaloudz It's a different studio handling the remake, and I'm sure that I read something about it requiring some of the Witcher 4 assets or something along those lines.

shame - much as I'm looking forward to W4, I'd love to play W1 (and hopefully W2 one day) first, to round out Geralts story.

@Kaloudz CDPR said several times that Witcher 4 comes out before the Witcher 1 remake, sadly...

It would be great for most of the people who own an Xbox, though perhaps some would not like the move towards it being more of a PC and less of a traditional console...

Xbox selling their games on PS makes financial sense, at least in the short term, as it brings in revenue. But I just can't see how this move would make financial sense for MS. Doubtful a significant number of PS owners would sell up and buy an Xbox due to this, so they are stuck with a small market share, and MS would make significantly less on software sales, as why buy from the Xbox store when steam is cheaper, so 70% becomes 30%, and if they have to remove the monthly fee to play online, as you would be able to play for free using the steam app, then that further reduces their income.

The general public, the average console buyers and not those of us on reddit and sites like this, would not give a damn, I doubt most of them would know Xbox exists, as there is so little store presence, marketing, etc. So yeah, it's all rather baffling to me.

Be interesting to see what happens though.

good stuff. 2 or 3 games on the go I want to finish, then it'll be switch 2 for a while, but looking forward to playing this in 6 months once it's patched!
