You'll Soon Be Able To See 'Personalised' Ads On Your Xbox Dashboard

Dashboard ads have long been a bit of an issue within the Xbox community - it seems as though they're a common complaint amongst users whenever the topic of a dashboard redesign comes up. While ads are unlikely to be going away anytime soon, Microsoft is adding a new option that may at least make them a bit more palatable.

As shared by The Verge's Tom Warren, some Xbox users are starting to see new options pop up giving them a choice between standard dashboard ads and 'personalised' dashboard ads. If users opt into the personalised option, they should see "tailored" ads based on gaming data - with "games and DLC just for you" showing up on the dashboard rather than generic adverts.

In theory this is a nice option, and will possibly prevent things like irrelevant ads popping up on dashboards as has been the case in the past. However, we've seen lots of ad-related complaints be more focused on just the general existence of them, rather than the actual content they're displaying on the dashboard.

As you can see in the above post, Warren says this new feature is "rolling out" to users now, and we're assuming that Xbox Insiders will be the first to be able to test it. We'll certainly be giving the personalised option a go once we see it crop up on our dashboards - and we'd hope that it gives us a better ad experience overall.
