It's Gamescom week, which means we're going to be hearing lots about the ROG Xbox Ally in the coming days, as Microsoft and ASUS plan to launch their new gaming handheld(s) in 2025. Oh, and they're kicking the week off with an announcement of the ROG Ally's first 'certified' game.
Yep, taking to social media today, ASUS has revealed that Microsoft's upcoming title Gears of War: Reloaded will be 'ROG Xbox Ally certified' when the system comes out. We'll find out more about the device's official launch date later this week, which should land shortly after the release of Gears Reloaded on console and PC.
As for exactly what a ROG Xbox Ally certified game will actually be remains to be seen. We're assuming it'll work similar to a Steam Deck verified title — where Valve puts a game through certain Deck-related tests to ensure it'll run smoothly — and we should hear more about the Xbox & ASUS program very soon.
As was recently confirmed by Microsoft, ROG Xbox Ally will be the first thing to feature on its day one Gamescom broadcast, where we expect to hear lots more about the device and its launch. That livestream airs Wednesday, August 20th, and we'll chuck our full breakdown of the day's events down below.
