Re: Star Wars Outlaws Launches This August On Xbox Series X|S

I'm really looking forward to this game! It's probably the game I'm looking forward to the most this year!

(Speaking of Ubisoft games though, Skull and Bones was actually a big hit for me and my friends! Once you get past the rough beginning, it's a blast — haha dad humor there

For what it's worth, Skull and Bones is currently my friends and I favorite game. The opening until you get your first ship with cannons feels a bit rough but the more we play the more we enjoy it. Once you get over the beginning, progression occurs at a good pace too. (Just became a Kingpin and opened up more gameplay options that we'll be checking out this week!

Neo Sprint looks like a lot of fun for me and my kids. I like finding simple fun games I can play with them in short bursts without huge commitments so we have time to do other things too. It would be nice if Intelivision went this route — Shark Shark is okay but was built for a reimagined Intelivision systems that will likely never be) Keeping my fingers crossed for a new Frog Bog

Re: Poll: Skull & Bones Players, What Do You Think Of The Game So Far?

CaptnDave

The very beginning of the game before you get your first ship with cannons is rather dry and can come off unpolished. I'm on my second cannon ship now though and loving it, especially when playing co-op with my friends. It has a great option for choosing PvE or PvPvE that I think far more games should adopt. This is my go to game.

I'm not sure why people are bashing this game. My friend and I played it for hours this weekend in co-op and had a blast. We can't wait to play it again. Until you get a ship with cannons (other than the opening crazy battle it can feel like a little rough of a start but we're already working towards our second cannon ship and have found the game to be really fun with a friend. I highly encourage you to try it out. Hope you enjoy!

Re: Talking Point: What Did You Think Of The Xbox Kinect?

CaptnDave

It was really cool but their director's all-in dedication to it being controller-less gameplay really limited what it could have been. (He's was always selling that point — it always felt like to me that he knew deep down it wasn't the right choice but he had convinced so many execs that that was the way to go that he couldn't back out) But I still have fun with some of the games with my kids which speaks to the inherent potential it did have.

Re: Truck & Logistics Simulator Explodes Into 'Top Paid' Xbox Charts At Launch

CaptnDave

I don't want to seem rude at all, especially to people who are finding this to be a great game. So please don't get me wrong. But my initial reaction to this game is "Isn't this actually just a job that most people can get paid for?" And perhaps there are more thrilling versions of doing this kind of delivery activity in other games, yes? Hence, I'm amazed and perplexed that this would be so popular (or even exist). If anyone wants to share their insights on this, I'd be intrigued. Thanks in advance.

Re: Reaction: GTA 6 Could Be The Star Of The Xbox Series X|S Generation

This game celebrates and adds glorified fantasy to the worst parts of society. It saddens me that so much obvious talent and effort went into creating this when it could have created something far more positively empowering. The role of the storyteller in society is an important one, and the story this tells makes society sick. My hope is that enough people will recognize this but I know that it’s unlikley.

My question for people to consider is “What happens when people playing this decide that maybe they’d like to live out part of the game’s fantasy?” – Will everyone? Absolutely no. But even participation in the game helps people defines what see they as “fun” and acceptable. And the more people are “excited about it” the more it helps empowers more outliers to go even further out. Then when their fantasy affects the rest of society negatively, we’ll all wonder how that person ever got to that point.

In short, there’s a lot of games out there. Just stay away from trash like this. And remember if you’re not a part of the solution of rejecting this, you’re a part of problem that helps to create those outliers (whether you want to accept that or not). And no there isn’t a way to both somehow enjoy this and not be supporting that which fuels the negative outcomes. Life just doesn’t work like that regardless of whether we want it to or not.

And for those who say “dude, it’s just a game”. Yeah and the Bible, the Quran, Mein Kampf, and the Declaration of Independence were all just things people wrote. Nothing that anyone writes ever has an effect on anyone else.

Re: Surprise! Sea Of Thieves Is Finally Adding Private PvE Servers

@PsBoxSwitchOwner
I agree. I hate the PvP aspects of this game. My kids hate it too and it's ruined too many of our fun voyages to the point where no one wants to play it anymore. (Despite being huge pirate fans in every other way) But as great as the PvE is to see the huge reputation reduction is just insulting and is going to make my kids feel like their participation / achievements in the game mean less, unless they're willing to put up with all of the "bullies" and "jerks" in the PvP mode.

Re: Fable Looks Jaw-Dropping With First In-Game Trailer

CaptnDave

I played all the original Fable games and they we're okay in my opinion. So personally, I'd be happy to see them take this in a new direction. And a British-humor medieval fantasy adventure game sounds like it could be a lot of fun! So I'm less concerned about some naysayers saying "well it doesn't seem like the same Fable I remember!" — chances are you're much older now and your view of things have changed, so you might not like the originals now in the same way remember liking them. Bottom line, if the new game is a good game, I really don't care how close it is to the original Fable or not.
