In my opinion this will age as well as well as Phils 'its only 4 games'
Sony already stated in their recent results that they need to expand their network and software reach further to offset decreasing hardware revenue and increasing HW costs.
If the next PS is now looking at 2028 and 2029 then this increases the likelihood of more xbox ports higher as HW revenue will continue to dwindle

I agree with Fiendish-Beaver here - Gears 6 may not come at all, 5 is my least fav Gears (yes even behind Judgment however I did like the Hive game mode) - perhaps to close off the trilogy it could be a dlc for E day (or if the rumours are true about the Witcher 3 having dlc after 10 years there should be nothing stopping them releasing it as a DLC for Gears 5) however my mind is telling me it won't come

This is all guesswork but perhaps this will be aimed toward the TV/Cloud market whom don't have the box under the telly - so they package game pass with netflix/disney/amazon or paramount

@Fiendish Beaver - some good guesses there - here are my guesses -
Halo will be August
Gears E Day will be September (PS5 next year as it won't be ready)
COD MW 4 - Oct
GTA VI - Nov (believe marketing is lined up to start confirming its release)
Fable in December
Forza Horizon 6 on PS5 next year

GOW 2 Reloaded will not release same year as E Day - next year if at all considering the sales of the first however 2 was never available on PC so may have better legs

Good news, part 3 multiplat on Day 1 should be confirmed now

I thought these 3 games were already confirmed for Switch a whilst ago - Starfield has been coming to PS5 for the past 18 months now, should only release it with a Switch version and new DLC for xbox for maximum impact

Hopefully a Summer showcase or TGS announcement for this and the first 2 games, play anywhere added as well I expect

The game Sony attempted to money hat and keep away from xbox players is now play anywhere as well - hope this turns out well for the devs

They are moving toward one unified PC/Xbox ecosystem and all their efforts need to go into that to make it the best possible experience when it finally comes along. IMO they need to also start folding in Battlenet which they also own. Enable cross purchase (console/windows/battlenet) now and offer all xbox games there to their community from day 1 (some but not all were offered in 2025)

The PC and Xbox community is large enough for any game
The problem with Halo is that it is not the blockbuster it used to be
Re-releasing for the second time the first game is not going to bring many new fans without a MP element
GOW reloaded (a very similar project) arguably flopped on PS5 - their community is certainly no sliver bullet to the developers failure to make Halo great again (I think that time has passed sadly, and I have 100% completed all previous entries so I am saying this hoping they prove me wrong)

Yes its a good deal and a clear advantage - with Play anywhere you get the console, PC and cloud version in one purchase - you buy it on Steam you only have the PC version - not sure why people are saying its cheaper on Steam its the same price for 007 First light £59.99 on both platforms

I am trying to finish Psychonauts 2 (XSX) and Alone in the Dark (X360) but tempted by Star Wars outlaws now its on Game pass

Going to play Primal this year so this is just in time

I hope we get the reverse i.e. the Xbox charts, how did Sony do this past year with MLB and Helldivers 2 - this coming year we will have MLB again, Marathon and I believe like others Sony will also start porting their other games to Xbox (fingers crossed as I have not had a PS since PS2)

In the UK you can buy ultimate codes at the same price Xbox charges for essential so it makes sense to get the codes and those rewards rack up a lot quicker on ultimate to get money off games - if I could not get it cheaper by codes I would switch to essential and burn my backlog as I really do not play that much on ultimate but will be playing Horizon, Gears and Fable this year

Be nice to be able to actually buy the ones you want to play individually instead of inside a stream only game pass exclusive product

Where is Death Stranding 2? Kojima Productions will be the next studio backing out of PS exclusive deals - hopefully this means it will be on xbox a lot quicker than the first one was

Xbox need to partner with Kojima to bring DS2 this year

Console war posts aside I believe the numbers are inflated, this would probably make it the most sold game on PS for 2025 at 5m copies???
My theory (and we all have theories as MS has never come out and said anything on record) is that PS will receive new MS studio's games (i.e. not Activision, Bethesda or Mojang) to coincide with the Game Pass Premium release so Forza 6 to PS next year - I believe that is happening for Avowed, Towerborne and South of Midnight this year.

Didn't think we would see RE Village after the Sony clause in their marketing agreement, good to see however bought it ages ago

Unfortunately I don't think we will see Gears 6 - the Xbox strategy seems to be to relaunching the pillars for the PS (and possibly Switch) fanbase so this would also apply for Halo - I may be wrong, time will tell (to be clear I am not happy with this direction as I have played all of the Gears and Halo games and eagerly await E day)

The next Xbox is coming, it is required in order to merge the console and PC games businesses so it has one ecosystem going forward

I am glad Hamster has come back to Xbox with the Arcade Archives series so will be picking up Space Invaders
