Three Far Cry Games Set To Receive 60FPS Upgrades On Xbox Next Week

Anyone fancy some (hopefully free) upgrades for three Far Cry games on Xbox next week?!

On Friday, the official Far Cry account on Twitter posted a cryptic image suggesting something was in the works, and now Ubisoft has confirmed that it relates to 60FPS upgrades for Far Cry 3, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon and Far Cry Primal.

It's also been confirmed these 60FPS upgrades will arrive on Wednesday, January 21st.

As you may be aware, the Xbox 360 version of Far Cry 3 already runs at 60FPS, but the Xbox One version known as "Far Cry 3 Classic Edition" is locked to 30FPS. The Classic Edition of Blood Dragon is also locked to just 30FPS. These upgrades should finally allow the Classic Editions to reach their potential on modern Xbox consoles.

It's a bit of a different situation for Far Cry Primal though, as that game technically already runs at 60FPS on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S through the FPS Boost program. We assume the upgrade is targeted more at PlayStation owners, but nevertheless, Primal should now run natively at 60FPS on Xbox without any need for FPS Boost.

We'll return with any further details when Ubisoft shares them next week.
