At the start of every week, we often like to highlight some new releases from our "Games Coming To Xbox Next Week" article the previous Saturday, but truth be told there wasn't a lot to get excited about this time around.
That said, we've since learned about Taxi Chaos 2, which shadow dropped on the platform yesterday, and it's now been revealed that Arcade Archives 2: Space Invaders will be launching on December 25th — Christmas Day!
The game was announced a few days ago, but it's only just been confirmed for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. It'll be available at a price of $9.99 USD when it arrives on the Xbox Store. Space Invaders: Part II is also expected to release on January 1st, although we don't have further details on that one just yet.
HAMSTER Corporation is happy to announce that “SPACE INVADERS” will be released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. as “Arcade Archives 500th Release Commemorative Title”. The game will be available digitally on December 25, 2025, as part of the Arcade Archives and Arcade Archives 2 series by HAMSTER.
“SPACE INVADERS” is a shooting game released by TAITO in 1978. The origin of the masterpiece that once captivated all of Japan has finally arrived on Arcade Archives! This title includes both the black-and-white and color versions, and the sound has been reproduced to the limit of how it sounded back then. Experience the timeless legend once again!
Beyond this, we've noticed that not only are three other games set to release for Xbox on Christmas Day, but they're all from the same publisher! That publisher is Super PowerUp Games, whose mission statement is to deliver "games and experiences that are, fun, intense and playable, like the ones you could find in the arcades back in the nineties". Some of their past games include Grand Prix Rock 'N Racing and Golf Up.
Their list of Christmas Day releases are Pinball Jam, Abyss DX, Hypercar Racing and a 4 in 1 Sports Bundle Vol 2 of previous titles. Now, are these games going to be big hitters? Almost certainly not. A quick look on Steam shows that Abyss and Pinball Jam — two of the games that previously released on PC — only have a couple of reviews at most.
But what we're fascinated about is that they've decided to target Christmas Day with these new launches, as has the HAMSTER Corporation with Arcade Archives 2: Space Invaders (there's also a "Hidden Legends" hidden object game coming out on the 26th). This might just be a secretly genius move — all of these titles will appear front and centre in the "New Games" section on Xbox at Christmas, which just so happens to be when people have gift cards to spend! These games almost certainly would have become lost in the shuffle otherwise, and yet now they have a chance of gaining a bit more exposure.
So, there you go! We'll throw some trailers and images below for the Super PowerUp Games titles as well, and if you're interested, you can look out for the new Space Invaders version on Christmas Day.
