If you haven't heard of the Arcade Archives series, it's the name for a bunch old arcade games that are being re-released for modern platforms by HAMSTER Corporation, and they're constantly pumping these things out on Xbox — recent releases include Space Invaders 1 and 2, Ridge Racer, Aqua Jet, The King of Fighters '98 and much more.

Arcade Archives will continue to keep releasing these classics on Xbox, and we've got two new racing games to mention in particular — Taito's "Top Speed" from 1988, which just arrived for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S yesterday (February 5th), as well as the home console debut of Ridge Racer successor "Rave Racer" on February 26th.

Our sister site Time Extension recently covered more details on what to expect from Rave Racer:

And here's a look at Top Speed, which is now available to purchase on Xbox for £7.49 / €8.99 / $9.99:

Now, you might have noticed in the trailer at the top of this article that there's a section for "Console Archives" games, which is a new series that aims to revive classic console titles for newer platforms. The games mentioned here include Doraemon, Sonic Wings Special, Cool Boarders and Ninja Gaiden 2: The Dark Sword of Chaos, with the latter two mentioned as being available immediately on Nintendo Switch.

After doing a bit of digging, we unfortunately haven't been able to find any evidence of these games coming to Xbox, although Cool Boarders and Ninja Gaiden 2 have since been confirmed as releasing for PS5 on February 14th.

As you can see from the tweet below, there are already requests for these to arrive on Xbox as well:

That's a bit of a bummer, then, but at least the Arcade Archives series is still continuing on Xbox — and to be honest, it's pumping out so many titles that we've missed a bunch of the new releases over the past year.

Fortunately, the Arcade Archives website has a full list of everything that's been released in order, so if you're like us and want to know what's worth picking up, that's the place to visit. We might have to add some of these to our wishlists!

Happy to see the new racing games from Arcade Archives? Would you want the Console Archives too? Tell us.
