I have no idea why these games were not Xbox one x enhanced once Microsoft bought these guys. I’m literally about to sell all my Xbox’s yet I have hopes that this will still happen. Sold two Xbox one xs. One Xbox one s. Still own a series s and series x.

@m0m0 @DeadmeatSWE if the series s was capable of playing the one x enhanced version of games it would have been perfect for me. A bigger hard drive though is necessary on an all digital platform.

@TheGameThrifter I’m going to wait till GDC to hear what they say. But I too am a console gamer and have no interest in the pc side. I don’t know why I want to pay pc prices but not be able to run Microsoft office or zoom. It doesn’t make much sense to me. I’m guessing people on here will think I’m the minority but if we were all really pc gamers none of us would have had a Xbox to begin with.

I don’t understand how there’s people here who will pay anything for this box but at the same time say oh wait ram prices. Which one is it. And if you can add ram later does it even matter?

@IOI I have zero confidence in Xbox and I have owned every Xbox and the mid gen updates. Phil kept on saying they lost the generation and gen people bought their digital libraries on ps4. Now with gamepass no one has a current generation digital library. So why stay?

Unless it runs Microsoft office and an internet browser so it’s an actual pc I don’t get it. This is way too much money.

I think they should have went lower priced. Can we get a series x to a series s price.

As someone who plays f1 fifa and cod every year game pass didn’t make sense to me. And I guess this new console doesn’t make sense either.

It’s the employee who has the big mouth which is at fault. I don’t like leaks either but they are just repeating what’s been said to them.

I hope they make a cheaper console that just plays the Xbox marketplace instead of trying to sell only 1500 consoles that do steam as well. Im old and have a hard time justifying the video game spending I’m currently doing. An extra 500 to the base price will just have me leave the ecosystem entirely.

I will say twenty years ago I would have gladly paid top dollar for the top system. That said I’m not sure if fortnighting minecrafters have that same desire.

@Markatron84 yes they likely are not here forever but at one time we thought these games would never see the light of day again.

As for forza. There’s no reason Microsoft couldn’t get these licenses for longer than 4-5 years. How hard is it to make 10 year deals? And or at least offer deluxe games with all the dlc on a disc near the end of the licensing.

@Markatron84 I dunno. Scott pilgrim came back. Snk vs capcom. These marvel games. The ninja turtle arcade games. Seems like lots of games coming back.

@shoeses I love how people make licensing seem like an impossible hurdle. And then all of a sudden it’s not. Just pay for the rights and that’s it. Forza is the worst at this. Theres ways not to let these games die after a few years.

Whatever happened to free online. That would keep me on Xbox too. But for someone who buys a call of duty game every other year and a ea sports game once a year this ecosystem doesn’t make sense.

Correct me if I’m wrong. But the only way to have Xbox everywhere is for me to run gamepass. So for me who buys a ea sports game every year or so. I can’t just play that on my tv. I mean I can. But it doesn’t make sense to buy a subscription for one game.

Also I’d have no problem if Xbox had zero exclusives but they sold their first party games at heavily discounted prices ($40) on their own system while charging the typical $70-80 on their competing system.

@Gemini53 some people don’t want to deal with the headaches that come with pc gaming. I don’t even understand how there’s multiple storefronts. And I’m an apple user because it’s simpler.

@OldGamer999 or how about the series X becomes the new series S. So it’s the base level of power.

If it was stronger than the ps5 pro and out this year I would buy it. I just want my games 60fps 4k with ray tracing.

They don’t need to announce it. Deep down we know. PlayStation fans know. It’s just a formality.

@SuntannedDuck2 If you just had a series X with the amd equivalent of DLSS it would go along way. I’m not convinced a system twice as expensive is going to be significantly better. There are diminishing returns. We’ve had a full generation to see them. Maybe it’s just a fluke. But we could all spend double the money next generation and find out nope that diminishing returns is a thing. I’d rather not do that.

@SalaciousCrumb you can just sell all your gaming stuff. Buy one Microsoft stock. And in two years you made your profit. Look how easy Xbox makes it.

So based on this video I’d think Apple TV and Apple Arcade is the future. You can play the games mobile, simple enough to play on Apple TV and cheap. But here we are going for the most expensive systems in the world and testing people’s wallet. I’m not their consumer since I don’t have trust and I can barely buy a digital game anymore without thinking that I’m essentially renting this until it all goes offline. But good luck trying to restore good will. Hey we lost the ps4 generation when everyone was building their libraries. And so let’s follow that up by going full nuclear with all our decisions on the series generation. Surely people will give us a third try. Third try is a charm after all.

I don’t know how a real win wouldnt simply to find a way to produce series X at half the price and onto store shelves. Name it series z for all I care. The important thing is getting these prices down.

@RetroMan71 the persons owned xbox consoles for generations. They are allowed to have a negative view. And you shouldn’t want an echo chamber.

@RetroMan71 you can mock but these threads are looking ghost town ish. And the staff will likely be getting moved or laid off as a result which will further the end of this site.

I can understand some people think 2027 is close. But if the console prices aren’t going to drop then I’d rather spend my money on a new system then the same system with year after year price increases.

I buy fifa every year for 80% off at the end of year. The rest of the games I buy a year are 50% off on random sales. I figure I can buy about 12 games a year for the same price as the subscription. I can’t actually finish 12 games a year. So I don’t know why I would subscribe.

This is going to bomb and make Sony and Microsoft rethink this strategy.

The series S was Microsoft’s saving grace. They could have marketed the heck out of that thing and it would have been perfect in this economy. Instead they bailed on it far too early. Now they’re promoting expensive items in a recession. It just doesn’t make sense.

My one S gripe is it didn’t play Xbox one X enhanced games. That was a mistake. A big mistake.

I don’t even think Microsoft needs to make a new series. What they could have done was simply keep reducing the price of the S and the X. Let PC become the pro model.

I just want the only 4 player split screen call of duty (black ops 3) to be Xbox one x enhanced. I want to be able to escort a robot without a messy resolution.

I just don’t understand… does universal still send delorean a yearly check for back to the future? Why aren’t the deals tied to the games not to how long they sell a game. It seems product placement is handled completely different in the video game industry than anywhere else

I have no care for career or my pro or whatever. Just make the base game right then add on. So please do something about the presentation. This is insane.

Also last year they had limited time 3 on 3 hockey. Include that in the game forever instead of limited time and we’re good.

@somnambulance I spent this entire generation hacking the series X in developer mode to install Dreamcast Roms. Now I can just buy namco system 22 games on my switch. It’s time to ditch my Xbox for good. I will miss nfl blitz though.

Still the best way to play black ops 3 is on PlayStation. At least it’s 1080p there. I can’t believe these games weren’t enhanced. What a waste.

The switch 2 is not only more expensive but if you want a pro controller it’s basically like buying a series X. The series S remains the best value in gaming.

This thing is still a deal if you’re a tv user in comparison to the switch 2.

Black ops 3 is by far the best Xbox one era call of duties. It has four player split screen and the best zombie maps.

@tho_mi you see how few tracks there are in Mario kart world and how barren the open world is…. Don’t kid yourself paid dlc is coming. It’s the Nintendo way.

These profits just don’t seem that much considering it is basically killing the Xbox system in the process.

@cragis0001 how would say Xbox be breaking laws if it went all digital. How is that any different than all my digital purchases off the apple App Store.

I just don’t know who would buy this when Microsoft is clearly going to port their games to the switch 2.

The only way tthis works is if it’s substantially more powerful but that will mean it’s substantially more expensive. And then I don’t know how this qualifies as a xbox series S successor.

Mine goes straight into developer mode where it’s used as a 4k Dreamcast. This is not what I bought it for but what can you do.

I can’t wait for the Nintendo anniversary sale.
