Re: Dying Light 2 Gets 'Amazing' Performance Update On Xbox Series X And S

@uptownsoul @Notoriousmakavel There were some confusion when FSR 2.0 was announced, because AMD only mentioned PC and XBOX. But recently it's was said Forspoken is going to use it on PS5. It's almost the same hardware. Even Splatton 3 will use FSR 1.0 on switch, that is nvidia hardware, so it's good for everyone I guess.

Re: Reaction: Will Xbox Follow PlayStation In Raising Console Prices?

@NEStalgia Totally agree. Public companies don't give a ***** about customers. CEOs and etc only care about their shareholders. They need to profit to make them happy and to not be kicked from their positions.

Take a look at JBS, from Brazil. Their net profit in 2021 was above 4 billion dollars, with more than 440m to be paid as dividends to the shareholders, despite the fact many people cannot afford meat anymore here. They just increased their prices and moved on.

At the time of the reveal of the prices of this current gen, there were some rumours that Sony had lowered the prices of both PS5 models to match the Series X/S prices, that were already revealed. If microsoft does not increase prices, that will be some kind of confirmation that PS5s would have been more expensive at launch.

@Fenbops Found it!

"We're currently in the middle of financial report season, with Microsoft announcing on the 27th of July that Xbox content and services revenue increased 2%. Sony, however, don't appear to be doing so well, as noted in a post from the company's Game & Network Services division. In the post, they reported that, despite the increase in shipments of consoles mentioned above, overall profits are down 37%."

Very interesting. I was taking a look after you posted the news.
Ubisoft said that "there is no such video game title that doesn't have close competition, all publishers and all games compete for available playtime, and none title stands alone in its game genre".

Amazon said they don't have enough info to evaluate Microsoft and Activision importance in game publishing. (hahaha)

"Riot Games believes Activision Blizzard titles face rivalry from close competitors", and they listed a lot of competitors. Google and Bandai-Nanco did the same.

Sony's alone in this.

Re: Talking Point: Did The Series X|S Bring You Back To Xbox? If So, How Come?

raftos

It was game pass that brought me back to Xbox. I loved my 360, but I decided to buy a PS4 because I did not like what microsoft was doing with One (I hate kinect, wii, etc, and that TV ***** really turned me off). But, just like with microsoft in 2013, Sony did not convince me me to buy a PS5, maybe due to the $70 dollar price tag of their "next-gen" games. I live in Brazil, and everything is so expensive here that a $10 dollar difference made a huge impact here. So I decided to buy a Series X and get game pass. I don't regret it at all. It's a wonderful console, ecosystem, service, etc.

I still want to buy a PS5, and maybe get the new PS plus Deluxe (we don't have that premium tier here), but i'll wait for the inevitable slim version.

Re: Xbox Cloud Gaming Is Now Available On Console In Brazil

Tested it last night with Doom Eternal, and was impressed by how well it worked, considering it's in beta. Played The Outer Wilds also, and in this case, I could see some image artefacts, similar to youtube compression, but nothing that compromised the experience. Really, really nice to have it now.

Re: Here's How PlayStation's New Services Compare To Xbox Game Pass

raftos

There's a "fourth" tier, for countries without PS Now.

PlayStation Plus Deluxe (Select Markets): For markets without cloud streaming, PlayStation Plus Deluxe will be offered at a lower price compared to Premium, and includes a catalog of beloved classic games from the original PlayStation, PS2 and PSP generations to download and play, along with time-limited game trials. Benefits from Essential and Extra tiers are also included. Local pricing will vary by market.

Re: Xbox Series X|S Demand Leads To 16% Increase In Gaming Revenue For Microsoft

raftos

Maybe we should consider that the Covid restrictions made 2020 an excelent year for gaming in general. So, if the numbers are almost the same, even with countries relaxing those restrictions and people going back to an almost normal life, that's very good, IMO.

I did a quick research for the revenues of the competition. In august, "PlayStation Helped Sony Beat Its Record Q1 Profits.
PlayStation 5 hardware sales drop, but software rises." (https://www.ign.com/articles/playstation-5-sony-record-profits-revenue-q1).

"Nintendo profits decline year-on-year as Switch hits 89 million sold" (https://www.theverge.com/2021/8/5/22610853/nintendo-earnings-q1-2021-switch-sales).

Ant Xbox, at the end of July: "Xbox hardware sales spike 172% as Microsoft reports $3.7B in quarterly gaming revenue" (https://www.geekwire.com/2021/xbox-hardware-sales-spike-172-microsoft-reports-3-7b-quarterly-gaming-revenue/).

Let's wait for the game pass numbers, but everything seems really fine.
