Re: It's Time! GoldenEye 007 Is Now Available With Xbox Game Pass

25.5 years later, still not 60fps๐Ÿ˜‚ (but it is 30 and at least not dipping into the teens, lol)

Absolutely loved this game as a fresh out of high school kid, played the funnest marathon sessions with my friend & my bro. Still have the cartridge & my N64 in storage. But this release is exactly what I expected: Dated.๐Ÿ˜– Really wished they could have secured us the unreleased Xbox 360 version of this instead.๐Ÿ˜ซ

Re: EA Kills Project CARS As Part Of 'An Update To Our Racing Portfolio'

eagletrippin

@Kaloudz I wouldn't think so. In fact, I know that during the pandemic, [sim] racing saw a big boom. I think Project CARS found itself in a stiff market, having to go up against similar titles that are equal to if not better than it is (Gran Turismo 7 on PS; Forza Motorsport on Xbox/PC; and also the Assetto Corsa series). "Dirt" may have been only had a smaller segment of the racing community (arcade rallying). Dirt Rally on the other hand is beloved by sim-racing/rallying enthusiasts --- and I for one am just happy that EA did not kill that off ...

Re: Review: MLB The Show 22 - Sony's Second Season On Xbox Game Pass

eagletrippin

Only played 3.5 innings, got bored, a snoozefest, and went straight back to GT7 and Returnal. And I'll probably just delete it today, despite having ample storage space. lol. Other than the 60fps, not much different between this and MLB 18, the last game I purchased, and still the same stale graphics engine & animations from the PS3, two generations ago.

Re: Gran Turismo 7 Drama Leads To 'Always-Online' Xbox And PlayStation Debate

eagletrippin

Modern_Vintage_Gamer on YouTube just did a GT7 video in which he alludes to the always-online nature of the game possibly being related to car manufacturer licenses expiring after so many years (see MS delisting Forza Motorsport 7 last year, and only being available to purchase via disc version). Possibly, always-online & DRM may be the way things will be going forward. Once those contracts expire, I'd imagine Sony/PD, for example, turning off those servers, and this game won't be playable at all (other than music rally๐Ÿ™„). The days of buying a game and being able to play it wherever & whenever you want may eventually be a thing of the past, unless people push back against it.

If FM8 actually doesn't force always-online on people, huge kudos to them, and I will also be shocked/surprised. I think this GT7 fiasco would have been a good time to distance themselves โ€” or even troll SONY, the way Grid Legends did โ€” by letting people know they aren't going this route. But I'm worried always-online is the trend going forward...

Re: Forza Motorsport 7 Is Already Being Compared To Gran Turismo 7

eagletrippin

I don't know what's worse, fanboys flaming wars on forums, or the people constantly crying about the media, the media, the media, and that articles like these are "fanboy/click-baiting" ... lol. Lighten up.

I own both games, on the next-gen systems, with a pretty fancy wheel & pedal setup. And while I do most of my gaming on my PS5, the simple fact that you can still compare these 2 games graphically (yeah, even despite the fact that GT7 was built on the PS4 game engine), is a testament to how great a game FM7 was, how much of a powerhouse it was, how ahead of its time it was ...

Re: Eight Great Alternatives To Gran Turismo 7 On Xbox Game Pass

eagletrippin

It goes without saying, even though this list is for Game Pass games, the most comparable game to GT7 on Xbox is Forza Motorsport 7. Of course, if you don't already own it digitally, you will have to buy a disc copy from somewhere. But, even 4+ years after release, it's still an amazing looking game, boasting full 4k60 visuals ...

Re: Microsoft Is Buying Activision Blizzard, Reportedly For $70 Billion

eagletrippin

@TheRedComet Yeah, great, we have options NOW...but once one company controls most of the output, that won't be the case.

All the fanboys are going to be like "Yeah, we won the console wars!" But if in 10 years, all we have is Microsoft and Nintendo issuing consoles & games, and Sony is forced to become like Nintendo and make only in-house "boutique" style games while MS owns all of the more mainstream, mass appealing games, then say goodbye to 'choice' because we're all screwed.

Re: Microsoft Is Buying Activision Blizzard, Reportedly For $70 Billion

eagletrippin

I'm mainly a PlayStation gamer, as I prefer their catalog of exclusive games. But I do own an Xbox Series X, and on top of that, I bought a Game Pass Ultimate subscription through May 2024...so, I am covered. That said, this doesn't feel like such a great thing for the industry โ€” this feel likes Big bank buys little bank, monopoly at play here ...

Re: Talking Point: With PSVR 2 On The Way, Do You Wish Xbox Also Had A VR Headset?

eagletrippin

It'd be cool if MS could push the technology forward; seems like it'd be easy to partner with Oculus to release one... I really enjoyed the PSVR, but had to sell it because of motion sickness. I hope the tech can advance to where this only affects a few people here & there. Hopefully Sony's PSVR2 has made enough improvements here, but I'll have to play it first extensively before I could buy...

Re: No Joke, It Looks Like GoldenEye 007 Is Finally Coming To Xbox

eagletrippin

Looking forward to this, would love to have this on a current-gen HDMI system โ€” the N64 stays in a storage bin. However, if the graphics remain in N64 form without any cleanup or any degree of remastering, it will be a bit disappointing โ€” the game would look extremely aged, dated, and boring ...

Re: Some Forza Fans Say They're Getting 'Bored' With Horizon 5 Already

eagletrippin

Well, coming from the "sim racing" side of the spectrum, I never agreed with "greatest racing game ever" declaration that many made. But I understand why mainstream outlets are saying it because it is easily accessible, has incredible landscapes, next-gen graphics & performance, fun arcade gameplay, and it greatly appeals to a very wide audience in the gaming hobby. I wouldn't argue that it might be the greatest "arcade racer" of all time. But, yeah...I personally spend exponentially more time playing other racing games.
