Assetto Corsa Competizione is one of the most hardcore sim racers you can pick up on console. The Xbox One version launched back in 2020, and it's now ready to make that next-gen leap.
Well, technically, the Xbox Series X|S version is already out; it launched yesterday, February 22nd. However, if you're looking for that free upgrade from the Xbox One version, that hits tomorrow, February 24th.
As for what the next-gen version delivers, it's your usual array of visual and performance boosts. On Series X, you'll be getting proper 4K resolution at 60fps, alongside more car livery options and a boost in multiplayer car count. Online, you'll be able to race with up to 30 vehicles on track at once.
Assetto Corsa Competizione will set you back $39.99/£34.99 on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

I don’t know if I am very special but my update dropped yesterday. Sharper image , smoother driving and faster loading.
@Sol76 Mine did too, I really need to get better at the game though lol
@Sol76 Digital purchase upgrade was yesterday with boxed edition release on 24th. I was confused by this but did some digging and found faq by 505 Games (Source: https://505games.com/faq-assetto-corsa-competizione-playstation-5-and-xbox-series-x-s-release/).
As for the actual update yes it's better so much better. You really notice the difference in wet weather and it all just run much smoother.
Best thing for me is being able to adjust in car cockpit view and you can change height, fov and a bunch of other stuff to suit preference.
It all makes it a better experience. Being able to nail corner apex and breaking points much more reliably with no stutter just means you get more consistent laps with faster overall lap times. (Which is probably why they haven't done cross gen multiplayer.)
It's not perfect though and I did notice some cloud pop in while driving round Mount Panarama but nothing I noticed track side or that will affect a race.
The PS5 folk seem to be having trouble due to the way they got the upgrade but Xbox seems to have avoided that with smart delivery (in case a ps5 player reads this and is experiencing crashes try deleting your saved ps4 replays.)
All in all a very solid upgrade on Xbox and it will get even better when they push out the 1.8 update with its driving physics update that pc has had for a while.
Anyone knows how the series s version is?
I think this sim will decide if will buy the series s or wait longer for series x.
Been waiting months for this next-gen update, but can't try it out now because I got family in town for the next week.😖
What a time for petrolheads...this, Grid Legends and GT7 all within a week or so!
@DonKale Most of the vids seem to be focusing on ps5 version which seems to be having some issues.
I did find a first impression for the series s by frogboyx1Gaming and he seems generally impressed with it. (https://youtu.be/leeLm54mK7Y)
He was very excited about fov slider once he found it and says that alone is worth it (it is very good.) He says it's generally smoother, sharper on the s but did note some small frame dip and tree pop in on the track he was driving around.
Might be worth a watch and I am sure more vids will be popping up as more folks get the update.
My copy was just delivered today. Hope this doesn't crash my Series X like the 10 hour trial of Grid Legends did repeatedly last night.
@Quaali well if it's any consolation you are not missing much with Grid Legends imo. It's an ok arcade racer that isn't really doing anything great or outstanding when it comes to the actual racing (the car sounds are really bad though and sound like lawnmowers underpowered ones at that.)
The only thing I would give it a good effort award for is it's story mode is really slick and well presented. You can only go so far with that in the trial though before it locks you out.
Hope you had or are having fun with ACC. I did a 3 hour endurance race at Spa this afternoon with no issue and hope you are not having any problems.
@BBB I was actually able to advance in the story after it tries to lock you. Press LB or RB on the the main home screen of the game until you get to the first tab. From there I was able to continue the story. Sadly my Series X shuts off every 15 minutes from this game only.
