Re: UbisoftNL Clears Up 'Confusion' About Ubisoft+ On Xbox Game Pass

Stnkygrngo

@IOI AC is just Far Cry and vise versa with a different skin on top.

And of course their games go 50% after 60 days of launch for a weekend or something at BestBuy if not, $10-20 a year after launch. You can wait for these, as they are usually playable by then after they fix all of the bugs. Great games like Watch Dogs 2 and AC Odyssey and Steep, but they all had bugs at launch.

Another $15/month service to play games that take months to complete and can be had for less than lunch...cmon...I'll give them 6 months until they discount it or go into Game Pass like EA Play did.

Re: Bethesda Says 'Players Are Going To Lose Their Minds' Over Starfield

All this “Hype” and I’m like meh….if it’s Bioshock story wise, meets the addiction of The Golf Club’s ease to pick up and play, Forza’s beauty, and the fun of multiplayer Titanfall, then maybe.

12 seconds of total video and no actual gameplay feels like we’re in for a Cyberpunk like launch, update, apologize, and meme lifecycle.

Re: Surprise! Xbox Games With Gold For April Hasn't Gone Down Well

Stnkygrngo

I think Hue was a GwG game at one point as well. I have it in my library but no Gold stamp on it, but not all are like that I believe.

And I wouldn’t drop coin on a random indie unless it was highly hyped, which I don’t recall this one being, maybe after launch as a sleeper hit but I’m 90% sure it’s a reissue.

Re: Review: Shredders - An Ideal Snowboarding Game For Xbox Game Pass

Stnkygrngo

I played it last night and this morning, about 4 hours in. Here is my take thus far:

Kinda b********** the culture a bit. If you are going to make a jab at it, go all in like in Amped 3, which was corny, but fun.

Style and gameplay, I would say this is more Amped 2 than anything, which is a great game that had some flaws, but was so much fun to play, especially online.

Pros:
-Open World is great! Snow is nice, slight hiccup on the Series X but not much.
-Controls are different but similar to controlling your feet if you know how to snowboard. Not so intuitive, but close to what you would want for this type of game. If you remember Rockstar's Surfing H30, similar to that concept but expanded and executed much better.
-Graphics are sweet! Not fluid all the time, but I think an update will get them there. One of the cutsceens you can see a scuff and scratch on one of the characters goggles....super cool!
-Real licensed gear and a lot of it.
-Music is a great mix, great indie finds.

Cons
-Cutsceens suck. Over stretched on the culture, no faces (which I like, all masked and goggles)
-NPCs voice tracks arent the best
-Missions arent the most thorough or challenging
-Small world to explore but I see that expanding based on chatter with their IG page over the last few months.

I would also give this a 7/10. If I had purchased this and paid $60 (I am a GamePass subscriber) I would say 6/10....I wouldn't be happy since this seems to be a short game, but I wouldn't be upset. I would likely play it, trade it back in in 2-3 weeks to capitalize on the newness and higher trade value. I really think this game will expand a bit in the future. The foundation is there, it has potential. Not like No Man's Sky, but maybe a few more peaks and missions to explore. The controls are a bit odd, but they tutorial does a great job explaining them and working with you while you play.

Better than Mark McMorris Infinite Air, but still a few notches away from Amped 2, what I believe is the best snowboard game made, coming from someone who spent 12 years working in the snowboard industry and riding for 35+ years but loves to play everything from Zelda and Mario Golf to the AC series and is just now getting into Halo and Horizon Zero Dawn ( I know I know!)

Re: These Seven Games Are Coming To Xbox Game Pass (March 1-10)

@FraserG Right on man! I wasn't knocking it, sometimes there is great stuff there. I know you run a small ship and everyone is everything, but you have a great community here and this has become my place for games, sister sites included.

The toxic stuff you see on other games sites isn't here so much and the community tends to moderate those pretty well. I am positive we could help you all with those game links if they were opened up (in a controlled setting of course...no screenshots, predetermined rating options, only comments) in a manner that helps buyers and the writers.

Honestly the bet site(s) on the internet about gaming right now. The interactions and honest, passionate writing remind me of the N64.com days before it was IGN and such.

Re: These Seven Games Are Coming To Xbox Game Pass (March 1-10)

Stnkygrngo

@FraserG Why do you all link to the games on your site when there is hardly any info on them?

Sometimes there is an affiliate link to purchase, but they are rarely reviewed or commented on.

Do you think this is something you would be interested in opening up to the community? At least on a 1-10 point scale with radio buttons?

Re: Step Aside FIFA, We're Apparently Getting A New LEGO Football Game

Stnkygrngo

At first I thought this was "American" football, ya know, since I live in the US, but being a UK site, I get it!

I dig it! I am so in for this!

However I now want an "American" football game. I can imagine NFL Blitz style play with incredible tackles that spill bricks everywhere! Madden 93 style meat wagon (ambulance) coming out to put the player back together. Power-ups with bricks being sent down from Zeus kinda stuff.

Re: The Ubisoft+ Subscription Service Is Officially Coming To Xbox

Stnkygrngo

If the price drop calendar of their releases is any indication, this will be $7.99 by April.

I only buy their games at $25 or less and they take forever to complete so not for me. If you have the time and can burn through a game or two in a month, I can see this being a value jumping in and then back off like some folks do with HBO after a new season of a show is completely released.

Re: Set Up Your New Console Before Christmas, Advises Xbox Exec

Stnkygrngo

Christmas 2019…set up my stepdad’s One X…at the time you couldn’t update the console without logging in or creating an account, so I had to create a new email so he wouldn’t know.

Not sure if it’s different now, but updating a console without a log in should be something easy to do given how everyone always pushes for it around the holidays.

Re: The Xbox One & Xbox 360 Are Now Eight And Sixteen Years Old

Stnkygrngo

I was so disappointed in the Xbox One when I finally pulled the trigger and got it with the AC bundle. Aside from loving those games, there wasnt much for me. I am not a Halo fan, but GTA V with upgraded visuals, okay, we're getting somewhere...but the 360....man, those were some great times!! Regardless I went through 3 consoles....some of the best memories playing with friends, the sadness when Amped 2 servers went down, Forza 4....just so rad

I mean, I am a solid Xbox gamer, but I was so jealous of PS4 owners at first. When the system finally came to is when the One X hit the streets and then it was smooth...so smooth
