Bethesda Says 'Players Are Going To Lose Their Minds' Over Starfield

You could say that Bethesda has been drip feeding info regarding Starfield since its initial reveal a few years ago. Even if concrete details have been scarce, we're still loving what we're seeing, and even more so after this new developer interview.

A new Bethesda blog post sits down with Design Director Emil Pagliarulo, who discusses his time at Bethesda Game Studios. Naturally, the conversation quickly moves to Starfield, and Pagliarulo shares his excitement about what the team is creating.

"But then you get to that point where systems really start to come online, and things start to work well, and gel, and you see everything forming into the vision you had when you first started on this crazy journey. When that first happened with Starfield, it really was an, 'Oh. Oh wow. Yeah. This is… something really special. Players are going to lose their minds.' Now we just have to finish it!"

Bethesda's Design Director also spoke about the team's day-to-day Starfield development progress, and how the team is always trying to look from a player perspective when making design decisions.

"You know, our unofficial studio motto is, “Great games are played, not made.” And that means experiencing Starfield the way a player would, at every stage of development. We’re brutally honest with ourselves about what is and isn’t fun, what does and doesn’t work – and doing what we need to do so players get the experience they expect and deserve."

This all sounds fantastic and — combined with everything else we've heard so far — gets us real excited for Starfield later this year. Now all we need is some proper gameplay but, summer is coming, and we're expecting a Starfield deep dive sometime around 'E3 season'.
