@rustyduck probably none since it is simply a mother daughter story. Is Brothers: a tale of two sons about hating women? The lack of focus on men is not misandry. And it’s nice to have games that focus on women and their relationships with other women.
I would want a hybrid like the switch. Issue is that means a graphics compromise so that it isn’t a lava brick. Which negates why I buy xbox. So until they can make a hybrid with a graphics standard and good battery life, I will pass. I think that is in the cards but not now.
I have yet to notice the framerate issue personally. Not sure if it is my tv or perception but the game has been fine for me. My tv doesn’t like it when like 4 spells are going off at night though.
That would be so scary. Because if it gets as dark and the enemies pile on as bad as DD2 but ammo is limited…that is just a brutal death simulator.
(Seriously DD2 is out to get people. I wandered into a area that after killing 6 separate groups of knockers (really big goblins) I got ambushed by a cyclops, an ogre, two minotaurs and a griffin. I felt the game was screaming “why aren’t you dead yet!!” In indignation. I gave up after the griffin left me to go fight a drake near by. Ferrycrystal-ed the heck outta there. Could not imagine Biohazard copying that.)
Nobody has to buy any of these. You can earn items and rift crystals through normal play. I don’t see what the issue is. The game gives you a number of portcrystals.
I hate it. As I prefer to game on a whim. The cards are too expensive especially for the amount of game space you get. I have over 700 games on switch and at least half are digital and I can manage that and saves with a 1.5 TB card. It just means I spend more time on the switch and less on the twins. Restricting games to a certain storage type is a mess.
I’m having so much fun. Got ambushed by a griffin (and an Ogre of course I am in a party of all women so f them fricken ogres. ) and got tossed off the griffin and as I was watching my character flail to her death one of my pawns caught me! I just started laughing in anxious relief. Yeah this game is gonna eat my life. Bought the deluxe edition. Let’s go! The griffin tried to ambush an oxcart to get food and I got my revenge haha!
Didn’t expect to encounter drakes so early though.
@Scummbuddy I think there are a lot of genres it can slot into, a tactical shooter like the old rainbow six games, a spy/infiltration similar to splinter cell or tenchu, a co-op dungeon crawler (make tech or freeing hostages a reward) as they evacuate areas or lead assaults on villains and maybe even call in some heroes as a superpower/air support. SHIELD and its spin offs deal with prevention or the stuff the heroes can’t get to so there are lots of ways to make that work I feel. Xcom style could be fun as well. If people can make a million war and james bond games, I am sure someone can do something with SHIELD.
I am so ready for this game. Dragon's Dogma just hit different for me. Granted, I was fortunate because when I bought it on 360 I had a buddy that had a level 99 pawn but replaying on switch has made reinforced that yep this game is so much fun. It is one of those series that is a perfect soup kinda game. There are other games that do the individual parts better, but not in a way that it all comes together to be this wonderful thing. I am so stoked!
@PJOReilly Does this game have significant post Dragon content like the first one? Since it seems like it is keeping to the original lore, I am looking for the everfall (a new version of bitterblack would be cool but that was an add on so I don’t expect that).
@Deljo that’s a complicated question. You have to report the value of anything over 600 dollars as income so you are paying taxes on the entire amount but how much that is depends on your tax bracket or if you are unlucky and the worth of the prize pushes you into a higher tax bracket. That’s why sometimes you will see people turn down a prize because it isn’t worth the bill later. Especially if you usually owe taxes every year instead of getting a refund.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner Mexico and Canada are included. It’s a regional promotion. The point is to drive awareness of the game in that region. So that more people buy the game.
@Krazee5255 That's why there is a site for each console. Allows each version to be focused on individually. There is a push square article up about the framerate as well.
It sucks losing jobs but game development is essentially contract work. You only load bear what resources you need to complete the project/till the money runs out and then you shed excess skill sets. We haven’t been in a world where people keep the same job for 40 years in decades (especially if one doesn’t climb the corporate ladder). It sucks but hopefully due to the nature of those jobs employees are keeping their resumes and skillsets up to date (as well as being fiscally responsible) so they can get another job quickly. Lay offs suck but they aren’t the end of the world if you prepare. Never get complacent in a job. I hope everyone lands on their feet.
Cool, just means the price will drop. Sucks that it means that they won't make a sequel but I've learned to enjoy the game you get and not the series you which could have been made.
Catch 22. Don’t buy games, less games get ported, less games get ported, less games get bought. UK charts shows system purchase percentage and for a number of games that are on all 3 systems, Xbox is rarely in the lead.
About what I expected. They are leveraging their publishing reach a little and looking to how to keep doing that. I honestly like that they seem concerned about giving players a good experience no matter where they are playing. The next gen talk was the only thing that felt like it was a reach. The rest was sound, straightforward business roadmap.
