Re: 'Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra' Launches In 2025, And It Looks Incredible So Far

@Scummbuddy I think there are a lot of genres it can slot into, a tactical shooter like the old rainbow six games, a spy/infiltration similar to splinter cell or tenchu, a co-op dungeon crawler (make tech or freeing hostages a reward) as they evacuate areas or lead assaults on villains and maybe even call in some heroes as a superpower/air support. SHIELD and its spin offs deal with prevention or the stuff the heroes can’t get to so there are lots of ways to make that work I feel. Xcom style could be fun as well. If people can make a million war and james bond games, I am sure someone can do something with SHIELD.

Re: Review: Dragon's Dogma 2 (Xbox) - Capcom's Cult Classic Makes A Triumphant Return

Ryu_Niiyama

I am so ready for this game. Dragon's Dogma just hit different for me. Granted, I was fortunate because when I bought it on 360 I had a buddy that had a level 99 pawn but replaying on switch has made reinforced that yep this game is so much fun. It is one of those series that is a perfect soup kinda game. There are other games that do the individual parts better, but not in a way that it all comes together to be this wonderful thing. I am so stoked!

Re: Xbox Is Giving Away One Of The Most Beautiful Series X Consoles Ever

@Deljo that’s a complicated question. You have to report the value of anything over 600 dollars as income so you are paying taxes on the entire amount but how much that is depends on your tax bracket or if you are unlucky and the worth of the prize pushes you into a higher tax bracket. That’s why sometimes you will see people turn down a prize because it isn’t worth the bill later. Especially if you usually owe taxes every year instead of getting a refund.

Re: Sea Of Thieves Co-Developer Lays Off 'Handful' Of Employees

Ryu_Niiyama

It sucks losing jobs but game development is essentially contract work. You only load bear what resources you need to complete the project/till the money runs out and then you shed excess skill sets. We haven’t been in a world where people keep the same job for 40 years in decades (especially if one doesn’t climb the corporate ladder). It sucks but hopefully due to the nature of those jobs employees are keeping their resumes and skillsets up to date (as well as being fiscally responsible) so they can get another job quickly. Lay offs suck but they aren’t the end of the world if you prepare. Never get complacent in a job. I hope everyone lands on their feet.

@Valkyrian What are you talking about? I never said anything about removing the male character. What double standard? If you are going to make a rebuttal then please make sense. Logical fallacies only make you look like you have nothing to say. I don’t think you understand how double standards actually work. Them cutting out the female protagonist (or never offering one in the original game) is a double standard. This isn’t a set character but instead an avatar. I’m merely stating that the existing female character shouldn’t be omitted forcing all players to play as the male character. Now what you just made up is not a double standard for one because your hypothetical doesn’t exist (and makes an insane assumption about my character as a person). I never said the male character had to go anywhere. I don’t actually care that the male protagonist is available, I care that the female protagonist isn’t available. There is a difference there that you are failing to see to make a hot take. So I presented no double standard. As I am applying the same consideration to the ability to play either protagonist. This is a role playing game, but players are forced into a role instead of being able to choose it. Especially when the option was available before.

Me, a woman, not wanting to play as a male character when there is an option (or refusing to play when that option has been removed) to play a female isn’t a double standard. It’s a preference. And as a consumer I will spend my disposable income at my discretion. Please learn how to present your point effectively.

If you are so diehard for me to have this game you are more than welcome to buy it for me. No? Then I will spend my money on games that I want to play. Like Ps3Portable. As it has the female protagonist. Try again.

Re: Microsoft Hits Historic $3 Trillion Valuation On Same Day Of Xbox Layoffs

Ryu_Niiyama

I can tell by the comments that a lot of people don’t understand what valuation means.

It’s also strange that people hate company bloat and mismanagement until layoffs happen. I suspect if these people were high earners with large houses and new expensive cars many would not feel so bad for them. And most didn’t before this news broke. A lot of this outrage is performative.

While it sucks when anyone loses a job but it is better for those people to reskill/update skillsets and apply to other companies (or reapply to MS later) than for MS to keep redundant or poor performing positions. I’d be shocked if they didn’t get a decent severance package which hopefully in conjunction with their own fiscal preparedness (emergency funds and savings and already living below their means) should float them until they get another job.
