@Jark I'm not going back to 30fps. Any game that does not support 60fps, I'll just play on PC.
I still would rather play on console if the game supports 60fps, due to features like achievements and quick resume, but not enough to play new games at 30fps.
Edit: there might be some exceptions, but not if they are first person perspective games.
@Magabro @Kaloudz also when we hear about 100 million or more budgets, marketing is included. So far this sounds like how much MS is paying the developer to make the game.
That aside, at everyone: calm expectations because anything this is about won’t see the light of day for anywhere between 3 or even 6 years.
This is the kind of stuff I love seeing after the game launched and I played it. Right now, we need to see it in action. Last years demo was good, but we need to see more. We need to see at least some traversal and casual combat.
@Cashews there was a leak a while back that it’s coming, same way we already knew P3Re was in the works, the question is when and where will it be announced.
Crossing my Fi Fred that Clockwork Revolution and South of Midnight are closer than my first impression if 2025.
Also hoping some of these titles show early (March?) 2024.
Not first party, but hope they get to reveal Shin Megami Tensei 3/4/4a/5 for Xbox in Tokyo Game Show this September as they did last year with Persona.
I was never going to play this, but this concept sucks. Very rightfully, GT7 got bashed a lot for this, as was Redfall.
It’s ok if you want to lock some online progression to, well, always being online, do that, but damn still offer a way for single player game modes to be playable offline!
So... I was thinking more about this game and how interested I am on it...
I am thinking this might finally push me to sign up for Ubisoft+
Ubisoft+ lets me play the games both, on PC and XBox (and Luna) A gold edition of any of their games easily costs $100, at least if bought at launch... and they might eventually release "second season" content like they did with Farcry 6 and Valhalla.
Buying an XBox version of a game wont ever give me the PC version, and all new Ubisoft games have cloud sync saves between versions via Ubisoft Connect...
There is also the Avatar game coming, and Mirrage... a full year of Ubisoft+ cost me $180, and buying the gold version of Avatar and Star Wars Outlaws would cost me at least $200, even if we assume Mirage gets no DLC, that is another 50, $250... and there will be other Ubisoft games like Prince of Persia... yea... I think I'll subscribe to Ubisoft+ as soon as Mirage launches.
@Green-Bandit I do love the Switch Pro battery life. I often forget to put it on my charging dock at the end of the day and it still works for multiple days, despite being old as hell. It's the Anti-Dual-Sense, that thing is...
As for the Black S... man... did they miss a chance to make that model Starfield themed... at least a limited run of it... really MS... you should had sold a white Series S, 1TB, with a theme that matches that new controller... oh and of course... pack in that controller... and a copy of the game.
I'm sorry but I got to say this: this sounds like telling people "play on an Xbox 360 if you want to play on an offline device".
I already noted I will play on PC, I would much rather play on console, and if we do get mods and anyone comes up with a mod to make that possible, I hope that transferring data from Steam to the Xbox version is a thing somehow.
Regret spending time watching it but there were some highlights.
Not for me, but seeing DLC for Hi-Fi Rush was cool.
High on Life knifey DLC has me pumped.
First Descendant looks interesting, I guess I could try it right now on PC if I really wanted to see what its all about...
Sea of Stars coming to Game Pass, not sure if that was confirmed before but thats awesome. I was looking forward to that game.
There was a cool indie reel "Developer Acceleration Program" that had some cool looking stuff, but I feel that should had been part of the regular showcase.
Same for the 10 indie games coming to game pass (including Sea of Stars and The Book Walker, two games I had on my Steam wish list)
Despite regretting watching it (would have rather caught up on a quick recap article) I dont think I would rate it low since it was clear this was going to be "extended" and full of marketing fluff (like Paris going to a warehouse with props.)
My hype levels for this DLC went down. It looks cool but I am definitively not great at rhythm and was only able to go through the story because the game is quite forgiving.
Challenge modes don't sound like the thing that I personally will enjoy much. Was hoping some extra story levels.
Still happy this exists for those that are truly good at that aspect of the game.
Never heard of this one before. Looks slick, and cross-play with PC. Still a service game that likely demands a ton of time so I might not have the time to give it a realistic shot. If I find the time for such a thing I might instead be interested to jump into ESO, but who knows... maybe I'll jump in to just get a feel.
@Green-Bandit Yea but extra controllers is a break even, even today.
The reason I bring up extra storage is because the whole point of this more expensive Series S is the extra storage. If you want to compare that to a Switch, you would have to also add similar storage to the Switch.
There is a high chance that player mods on the console version will be a thing, and a mod could potentially change the game enough to enable 60fps and disable X or Y to make it happen. Only issue there is that mods that are not part of the Creation Club tend to disable the ability to earn achievements in previous entries of the game.
I doubt it to be Hexen, the IP is owned by ABK and doubt they would agree to license it out pre-acquisition.
I am still expecting it to be Quake, hopefully its like Doom and entirely ignores previous games attempts at story and just comes up with something that is visually faithful to the first game, but with a much more interesting plot.
Now that you guys talk about button colors, it is now that I notice... usually every xbox controller that uses flat colors or the buttons also has color key in the middle to let gamers know what color correspond to what button if they feel the need to look at the controller. This variant is missing that. I'm fine with that, but interesting omission none the less.
If you ask on PushSquare, this is nowhere near as evil as placing an embargo on Persona 3 multiplat confirmations.
Anyways, I don’t care about these cosmetics, but if I did, I still would likely rather pay extra to play on my preferred platform than get it on PS5. My PS5 is my third console, and I only play exclusives on it.
@NEStalgia the sad truth about US carriers: every single one of them has a place they suck at.
ATT does not actually cover my house, at least not indoors, but it does not have to since I get wifi calling. It covers my workplace perfectly (when I have to go there) when no one else gets reception there.
@Zoidpilot4 Dreamcast guy is indeed a clown. Anyone following my posting history knows I’m as Pro Xbox as it comes without being a blind fanboy.
At the end I think this game looks great, and I’m happy for anyone that is not bothered by the 30fps cap on consoles, but I am playing this one on PC. Already got me the constellation edition, the controller, and a rig that is well above minimum specs to install on my gaming room.
@UltimateOtaku91 personally, I had a hard time with Plague Tale requiem, and regretted playing it on that mode when they launched a 60fps mode later. But at least Requiem was 40fps on my TV, not 30.
Not buying that take. An option for the player would not sacrifice the 4k mode. I’m sure PC players will get a ton of settings they can adjust to get 60fps.
What I would buy is that other things going on at the CPU level, like physics calculations, prevent the implementation of a lower-res 60fps mode, but that is not what we were told. They specifically said “don’t want to sacrifice fidelity*.
@SplooshDmg yea ATT is doing some crazy trade in prices, over installments though, but it nets to zero if you also get your next phone over installments from them.
I keep most my junk… it almost always goes into my “mini” museum. I think the first decide I don’t plan to hold onto is this phone I’m using right now… I’m definitively trading this in towards my next phone. Phones are getting ridiculously expensive…
@SplooshDmg @NEStalgia I have a gaming laptop that is well above recommended specs for the game, it was also well above 2k when I bought it years ago, but still also ordered a new tower with a 3080gtx, i7 12th Gen and 1TB M2 NVME drive that I plan to hook up to my gaming room TV mostly to play this game. Not exclusively, mind you. I been meaning to invert on such a right to emulate PS3 games.
Also Nestalgia: I don’t trust just any sd card brand (one off brand sd card on my Wii once caught fire….) and a 1TB sd card can easily approach $100.
Edit: oh also: on the creation engine, anecdote: when Skyrim launched on PS3 it ran like hell after long enough. I remember an article explaining the reason was they found out for some reason the dragon scripts never stopped running after they got spawned, so if you didn’t kill a dragon, that dragon was “always running” and that killed the PS3 CPU. Think it was a bug on all platforms, though.
@SplooshDmg leaving a stick at the start zone and finding it again 80 hours later is more about memory and storage. In Zelda, yea things vanish if you move too far away and come back, because their position is not saved to disk after that area is unloaded.
Creation games save that to disk, can result on some absurd large save files. I recall back in the day filling my X360 HD with Oblivion save files.
Edit: also Skyrim toned down on this by resetting most items and containers after X amount of hours unless the container was marked “safe”, so you might not find that stick there 200 hours later.
@Green-Bandit @NEStalgia Another thing to keep in mind while comparing console prices: the Switch has barely any internal storage, even physical the biggest games require big downloads these days. If you buy one chances are you will want a large micro SD card and that adds a significant sim to the price.
@wazza99999 @Krysus @themightyant they might still provide continued support for the 2020 version via real time weather and other online features and minor patches.
Honestly, I would think a new entry would be better, especially if purchases carry over, since this means 2024 is free with Game Pass white a FS2024 expansion would had been likely an expensive paid DLC, and DLC are never part of GP.
Also, with a sequel, they can rethink internal systems, engine features and what not. Structural changes are usually out of the question when maintaining the same base core game. You can change and improve a lot more when you simply make a sequel.
Went for it and ordered the Steam/Pc version of that ridiculous constellation edition. Xbox version was sold out by the time I caved in. Hopefully the game has some sort of cross save feature with Steam, but highly doubt it.
Of course I also ordered the controller… skipping on the headset, though.
@Banjo- @PushButtons as much as I disagree with the FTC stance, I don’t think it has anything to do with Sony or even gaming.
The current FTC leadership is simply extremely anti-big-tech. They would had opposed the deal even if Microsoft was buying the last Blockbuster store, simply because it’s Microsoft.
@Green-Bandit @NEStalgia The price is not going up, the white model is still available (at least for the time being, I do think if we suddenly see supply dwindle and not getting restocks, it should be called out.)
Side note and a bit on topic, I ended up buying that dumb $300 collectors edition... for PC That actually means I’ll be playing it on Steam. It's an Amazon order though so I got until a week from launch to cancel it if I truly truly regret it.
@Belkan for better or worse, all that is usually needed to get a temporary injunction is have pending litigation on the subject. What I am not certain is if a federal judge will consider FTC internal courts to be "legitimate" pending litigation.
@NEStalgia Its rare for them not to be granted, though. It is possible that the judge insists an injunction be conditional to going to actual federal courts, but I doubt it.
Now, should the FTC lose on their internal courts, its possible a second injunction is not awarded.
@NEStalgia in this one I side with the FTC. Lets assume for a second they genuinely think they have a case, there is no point in litigating the case if you simply allow the merger to happen while you are litigating.
Forcing a split post merger, in the US, is the stuff of ancient history. I don't see the US gov forcing such a thing in my lifetime. Therefore, what happens instead, is that you file an injunction to prevent the action to occur while the case is still pending.
As I mentioned in Push Square, I expect this injunction to be granted. There is no point for legal procedures if there is no injunctions. That is one of the reasons they [injunctions] exist for.
There is a minimal chance that the courts might require the FTC go to proper federal court if they want the injunction granted, but I doubt it.
This wont hurt the deal, MS and ABK are very likely already negotiating an extension to their deadline.
@Green-Bandit the coverage I read and heard claim the OLED and the Pro were entirely different devices. I never seen "OLED was the pro with parts stripped" outside comment sections and forums.
@SplooshDmg Not sure how "feedback we're getting right now" changes his response. If they are working on a pro model, development started just as the Xbox Series shipped, if not earlier.
The truth is no one at Xbox will acknowledge any plans until they actually announce the thing. Unless Phil comes out and actually says "we wont be having another console until the generation is over" I am hedging my bets they are internally working on a refresh and ready to launch it reactively if Sony announces theirs.
We also know from devs that the Switch "pro" was real, plenty of devs had dev kits, Nintendo simply opted the logistics didn't work out. Same can happen here, but I think its a very safe bet to say they have something baking and near ready if they feel they need it. Making a mid-gen (or new gen) console isn't something that happens overnight, not even within a year, after all.
Edit:
I feel I lost track of what I was trying to say: my point is he didn't deny they will make a mid-gen refresh. All he denied is they need it.
Very hyped for this. I do see now that "back to roots" simply means environmentally. There are still quite a few staples of recent games, like being able to sneak through tall grass (used to be hiding was a very still thing) and using a flying pet to scout the area for targets. Plus some, seemingly ungodly magical abilities like that multi-target assassination move.
This is not me pointing negatives, my main desire was returning to more urban nevironments with more opportunities for vertical movement, escapes and assassinations.
The game in isolation looks very cool. Always up for some metroidvania, and the combat on this looks amazing.
My one nitpick is that they gave the prince a name. As far as I know, the prince was never given a name in the 2D or 3D games, he was always just called The Prince. Other than this being related to a Persian prince (that we dont actually play as), it does not seem tied to the IP at all. Not a huge issue, though.

Re: FTC Requests Temporary Restraining Order Against Microsoft & Activision Blizzard
@NEStalgia Its rare for them not to be granted, though. It is possible that the judge insists an injunction be conditional to going to actual federal courts, but I doubt it.
Now, should the FTC lose on their internal courts, its possible a second injunction is not awarded.
Re: FTC Requests Temporary Restraining Order Against Microsoft & Activision Blizzard
Re: FTC Requests Temporary Restraining Order Against Microsoft & Activision Blizzard
Re: Starfield Will Run At 4K / 30FPS On Xbox Series X, 1440p / 30FPS On Series S
@Green-Bandit the coverage I read and heard claim the OLED and the Pro were entirely different devices. I never seen "OLED was the pro with parts stripped" outside comment sections and forums.
Re: Here's Everything That Was Revealed At Ubisoft Forward 2023
@BAMozzy exactly. Not every game has to appeal to me.
Re: Starfield Will Run At 4K / 30FPS On Xbox Series X, 1440p / 30FPS On Series S
Re: Starfield Will Run At 4K / 30FPS On Xbox Series X, 1440p / 30FPS On Series S
@SplooshDmg
That is not the quote I read. the quote was simply "Right now, we’re pretty set on the hardware we have"
That is not "there wont be one", that is basically an evasive "nothing to announce at this time".
Re: Assassin's Creed Mirage Continues To Impress In Seven Minutes Of Raw Footage
Re: Ubisoft Shares A Closer Look At Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown
The game in isolation looks very cool. Always up for some metroidvania, and the combat on this looks amazing.
My one nitpick is that they gave the prince a name. As far as I know, the prince was never given a name in the 2D or 3D games, he was always just called The Prince. Other than this being related to a Persian prince (that we dont actually play as), it does not seem tied to the IP at all. Not a huge issue, though.
