Re: Jim Ryan: Publishers 'Unanimously' Do Not Like Xbox Game Pass

MattWithoutFear

I wish Ponies would realise that when he says "value destructive" he's talking about value to Sony, not value to the consumer.

Also, he clearly didn't talk to EA, who have no problem putting all their stuff in Game Pass - granted it's not day and date, but (almost?) everything ends up there via the EA Play connection. EA were also saying the other week about how they'll still be the biggest shipper on Xbox even if ABK went through. Maybe he just spoke to the publishing team at SIE...

Re: AMD Announces 'Exclusive' Starfield Partnership That Will Benefit Players On Xbox & PC

@ChromeMud the issue is that this partnership with AMD will likely block DLSS from working, as that's Nvidia tech. So instead of leaving it gpu-agnostic and open, they're curtailing performance for a massive percentage of gamers who chose the "wrong" GPU platform. I've got a Series X and S, but when I want to play it on my Alienware with an Nvidia GPU, I won't get full benefit.

Re: Sony Remains 'Extremely Sceptical' Of Reaching ActiBlizz Agreement With Microsoft

@themightyant all great points! IMO MS won't offer Sony anything different as 1. that will be seen as capitulating to them and Sony will claim a "victory", and 2. the other companies will demand the same.

In the same way that Sony won't accept the deal until it's all approved and they have to, MS won't offer them anything else if they think it will be approved regardless as then Sony will still have to sign the deal that MS is putting forward.

Re: Sony Remains 'Extremely Sceptical' Of Reaching ActiBlizz Agreement With Microsoft

@themightyant well the parity there is that it will still be $70 to buy on Xbox and Sony have been offered the option to put it into PS Plus. They just don't want to because 1. They'll have to pay MS the upfront cost for that 2. Sony would likely make more money with direct sales than revenue from subscription users (except now they'll lose their preferential revenue share that they currently enjoy from ABK so even direct sales will net them less). That aside, they're still being offered the same opportunities.
