@Fiendish-Beaver Hell yea, that's what I am talking about. The amazing friendships and bonds we have made playing these games are unbreakable. Hell my wife and I met through our love of Halo and I was best man at my Gear's buddy's wedding and a few birthings and groomsmen spots as well.

Out of all the games mentioned Overwatch is probably the most frustrating of them all for sure, just because you can go from the most friendly lobbies to the most toxic in a heartbeat but I still think the most friendly ones will always trump the negative ones.

Speaking of Gears game modes, what did you think of Escape/Hivebusting? I thought it was a cool mode that could be built upon, hell it would be cool if they made hivebusting part of one of the objectives in the new Horde Siege.

Also I would be surprised if there is not a classic horde mode option if not at launch added later, unless they are worried a lot about splitting the online base too much. I just want to see the online aspect of Gears survive longer than the last two entries and I feel like the siege mode has a lot of potential to grow like Helldivers in the war torn setting. I'm also hoping since it will be teams of 12 that if somebody does end up dropping out that it will have a replacement through matchmaking after a short placeholder time just in case for unintentional disconnects.

@Fiendish-Beaver That's sad to hear, back in the 360 days I used to do local Gears tournaments and would always meet up with some amazing people and have forged lifelong friendships at these events. That coupled with the many gaming friends I have made over the years with Halo, Destiny, Division, Sea of Thieves, Helldivers, Overwatch, Borderlands etc over the past decades, my friends list is sitting at 537 currently and I can point to each person on that list and say which community I met them from. There are always the bad eggs but I am very keen on not allowing those people ruin my experiences. With that said I think Gears and Halo are both in need of some new ideas to bring new and old players, new experiences so the games can be successful and the older player bases need to loosen up on how they respond to these franchises trying new things, because a lot of times the older player bases of games like Gears and Halo hold the series back. Halo especially has this problem. Gears isn't far behind it. I am very much looking forward to the new horde mode and the great experiences I am certain it will bring!

@MinervaX76 there are facts you are just choosing to ignore them. There are tons of sales charts out there that back my claims and a good amount of developers as well. Capcom only puts riskier titles on Gamepass like Exoprimal (failed) and that tower defense game they would never launch their mainline big projects on there like Xbox does because it would destroy their sales.

You can choose to ignore how Forza Horizon 6 is enjoying a lot more sales while gamepass subs are down, but to me that signals a healthy trend. But it is not the norm. A lot of people swore off GPU forever after the price hike, some came back but the majority swore it off. I am one of them and I will never go back.

GP is a large reason their platform is dying and why people think they should just go third party, if that is where they want to be that is fine I will continue to buy their games on PC.

Re: Xbox CSO Shuts Down Rumour About Exclusives, Insists They'll Happen Every Year

ILuvGames

@MinervaX76 just because most are not vocal doesn’t mean it’s not true and that is the point I was making that devs that don’t have their games on gamepass suffer. There are also reports showing the decline in not only support but sales.

The problem Xbox faces is getting off the gamepass lifeline, I will admit it saved them for the short term but harmed them in the long term.

I love seeing Forzas success! But sadly it is an exception and not the norm, not to mention that Forza came out around the same time as the pricing changes so coincidence it is selling so much better when the subs dropped so dramatically? I think not and is a positive trend!

@MinervaX76 “Maybe I missed something (didnt read everything) but why would they drop GP? I still have to see anyone prove its doing poorly as a program for MS.“
It is well documented that it not only cannibalizes first party sales but also 3rd party sales. People are just paying the monthly fee instead of buying games at all. It’s hurting with support for the platform with some developed skipping the platform altogether or prioritizing it last because why should they if people aren’t going to buy the game cause it’s not on gamepass.

Niche games have their place but not something Xbox should be investing in for first party. There are hundreds of them done third party and they are not going to move hardware. Xbox, if they want to continue being a platform holder needs to start thinking as one.

Re: Ori Creator Shares His Take On The Future Of Xbox's First-Party Strategy

ILuvGames

@Fiendish-Beaver Obsidian made arguably the best Fallout, they should be making a sequel to it. It’s an absolute no brainer.

Double Fine excels at platformers, Tim should be putting his spin on Banjo.

Ninja Theory SHOULD have made Hellblade into a God of War juggernaut like people wanted. They had the opportunity and squandered it on Hellblade 2, which is still my largest disappointment of this gen. I was hoping for some grand adventure filled with epic battles, what I got was walking around listening to voices swirl around. Such a missed opportunity.

Re: Xbox CSO Shuts Down Rumour About Exclusives, Insists They'll Happen Every Year

ILuvGames

@IllusiveMan I agree with this. Xbox went from a content crisis last gen to a Gamepass crisis this gen. Maybe now that they have the content they can drop the Gamepass and start to build up their platform again, both on console and PC. Stop making niche games and making games that will actually sell hardware and turn heads. Quality control should be at the forefront, if the game isn’t going to score 8+ on Metacritic cook it longer until it hits a standard. People for the most part just want to play great fun games at the end of the day. I want to see their franchises that I have loved and supported for years succeed. Without criticism Xbox won’t grow. The PlayStation base makes noise when Sony screws up so should we but we should also show up when Xbox does and support the brand or else it will cease to exist.

Re: Xbox CSO Shuts Down Rumour About Exclusives, Insists They'll Happen Every Year

ILuvGames

@Gloomofdoom Xbox is not blameless in enabling people like you. But you are not blameless for when the games you love disappear as well. As I said before if you are on a gaming forum you have some sense of pride or passion for Xbox games. Gamepass was also created because the base was losing sales not only on software but hardware those two things also go hand in hand. Gamepass is cheap to get the games in people’s hands not to cannibalize their sales, but that is what it is doing.

Re: Xbox CSO Shuts Down Rumour About Exclusives, Insists They'll Happen Every Year

ILuvGames

@Banjo- Marathon and MLB are not exclusives. Sony has been going through the same problems as Xbox as to releasing games their base actually want. Ghost of Yotei is what their base has always wanted not their live service push, well besides Helldivers 2 massive success. Asha is on the right track at looking at games the Xbox fanbase has usually shown up for and making sure those games are a priority.

Re: Xbox CSO Shuts Down Rumour About Exclusives, Insists They'll Happen Every Year

ILuvGames

@eduscxbox Ghost of Yotei sold very well and surpassed Tsushima. Their base showed up bought and supported their game, Saros was a dud because that kind of game isn’t what their base wants. Instead of being so enamored with how the competition is doing sales wise maybe the Xbox base should instead focus on buying and supporting their games rather than pointing their finger at the side that does show up. I wish the Xbox fanbase would have as much pride in their first party games as they do but all I see is people touting how they will just play the games on GPU for cheap and exclusives will go away again.

Re: Six Games Are Confirmed For Xbox Game Pass In July 2026 So Far

ILuvGames

@Ninerguy1608 Well I am a very big fan of Gears and Halo. I spent $500 on the collectors editions for both during the showcase lol I was thinking about getting the Fable one at a later date but it sold out so if it comes back in stock I will grab that one as well for sure. There are still a lot of us older Xbox guys around still supporting the games we love. I am still hoping for the day they take away day 1 gamepass though. Xbox fanbase needs to show up or shut up imo.

Re: 'We'll Start To See Radically Different Business Models' - Xbox Boss Talks Future Of Consoles

ILuvGames

I think the better way of doing this is for Helix to have two consoles again but not like the Series S/X but more in the we have a standard console that will be baseline for the next few years and you have the premium which would be the one that can run more with the RTX 50 series cards. Series X will probably continue to be supported for a few more years, Series S will struggle and will lose parity. Cloud gaming may come more into play for those that are not wanting to pay the prices of the next consoles. I mean those are the more practical solutions in my mind. People that can afford it will move over to PC, I'm sure Playstation is freaking out about "next gen" as well and will try to extend the current gen as much as possible just like Xbox would like to while people slowly adopt the new hardware.

Re: 'It Doesn't End With Gears & Clockwork' - Xbox Reporter Teases More Console Exclusives

ILuvGames

@Fiendish-Beaver we will see. Maybe the stripping away of exclusives was what needed to happen to make the Xbox base open their eyes to the reality of what happens when you don’t support first party. I know we both just dropped over $1,000 combined on our collectors editions of Halo and Gears so they can’t complain to us! Hell if those Fable collectors editions stay up long enough I may grab one of those as well. I love Xbox’s games and I have always and will always support them!

Re: 'It Doesn't End With Gears & Clockwork' - Xbox Reporter Teases More Console Exclusives

ILuvGames

@Fiendish-Beaver I can even see some benefits from them removing first party titles being day 1 on Gamepass, like price reductions and more investment in third party titles to keep subscription numbers up. I know a big draw of Gamepass is the big day 1 first party releases but I feel like there are enough of us that use it mostly to find the next indie game that we fall in love with that we would have never even tried if it were not on Gamepass. I like the consumer friendly-ness of Gamepass as well but it seems to be at the hardware's detriment so Xbox gamers need to come around to the realization that they can't have everything and make up their minds on what is more important to them, so many screamed for this exclusivity but I am curious to see how many will actually show up to support it.

Re: Gears Of War: E-Day Releases October 2026, And It's An Xbox Console Exclusive

ILuvGames

@Fiendish-Beaver Oh damn you got the Fable one as well! That is a very expensive day. Do you need a paper bag to breathe into for a few moments? haha

I am glad you got em though! Hopefully the Halo one goes back into stock because that was some BS for how fast it sold out and it is a very VERY slick Collector's Edition. Both of those statues are going to look great next to my others in my gaming room!

Re: 'It Doesn't End With Gears & Clockwork' - Xbox Reporter Teases More Console Exclusives

ILuvGames

@Fiendish-Beaver Agreed! I pay a measley 15 dollars a month for gamepass on PC and I use it to find new games like Luna Abyss mostly. But it's just frustrating to see how a lot of Xbox gamers won't buy games anymore than act frustrated as to why Xbox isn't making their games exclusive anymore when it's simple because they are not buying first party games anymore.

As for what system sellers they own other than Blade I would say the biggest system seller they have right now is the next Elder Scrolls. I also think Halo, Gears, Forza, Fable etc as a collective are system sellers much in the way that I wouldn't consider any of Sony's games system sellers alone but it's more the collective of Ghost, Horizon, God of War, TLOU etc being system sellers. It's why the strategy of picking and choosing which games are going to be exclusive is weird. I still think their strategy should be all XGS games 100 percent exclusive, Bethesda and Activision games 2 years exclusive (besides COD and other Live service games). But again that all just depends on if the Xbox crowd shows up!

Re: Poll: How Would You Grade The Summer Game Fest 2026 Showcase?

ILuvGames

@Fiendish-Beaver I think that sequel will be as Shift Up said a couple of months ago that they would be bringing the first Stellar Blade to more platforms beyond PC and PS to build hype for the second game.

I really enjoyed the show Crossfire, Haex, Code Veronica, FF7R3, seeing Last Ronin is still alive, 1666 Amsterdam looked very promising, Gen Atlas and of course The Wolf Among Us 2 and Alien Isolation 2 were very nice to see show up!
