Another Source Reveals What They Know About The 'Secret' Xbox Developer Direct Game

Update []: The outlet is now saying the game is from a first-party Xbox studio:

"CORRECTION: VGC has since been told this is a smaller original game from a first-party studio, and not a third-party game, as first reported. Apologies for the mix-up."

Original Story: Following the announcement of the date and three games for the Xbox Developer Direct yesterday, we inevitibly started hearing about a secret fourth game for the show — and another source has now corroborated this today.

The well-known outlet Video Games Chronicle says it has also heard of a secret fourth game for the Xbox Developer Direct showcase, and — spoilers ahead — it's apparently a "promising indie title from a third-party publisher".

"According to Shinobi602, who has a history of reporting confidential information about upcoming games, the show will feature “a ‘secret’ fourth game.” VGC can corroborate this and understands that the fourth game is a promising indie title from a third-party publisher."

Nothing further is revealed about what the game might be, but VGC does also mention that Fable is in development for PS5. That's not to say it'll be a day one launch though — Avowed was a one-year exclusive, for example.

The rumours will likely keep on ramping up ahead of Xbox Developer Direct on January 22nd, so we'll keep monitoring them and let you know of anything that might be interesting. For now, we can speculate on this "promising indie" game!

Any thoughts on this? What do you think about the Fable rumour? Tell us in the comments.
