Re: Ori Developer's Next Game Will Attempt To 'Revolutionise' The ARPG Genre

@Savage_Joe i didn’t know… pity. Edit: just read the article, apparently the co-founders of Moon started bullying other Xbox teams? Uncool…

And yeah… acti-blizz should be purged. I actually stopped playing their games after I read the news a couple of years back, with the workers even striking in front of the office. I’m hoping for the better after that deal…

When looking at the impact game trials have on switch sales, I think that impact is pretty big.

Uno for instance was on the top of the sellers list for over a week right after the game trial ran out. And that happens more often. The game trial was combined with a discount though.

I do not often make use of the free trials Xbox provides though… probably because it is on a weekly schedule. I just forget it exists due to that.

@Lavalera yeah, I don’t think there are many games made by Japanese developers left on game pass tbh. No Konami, Square Enix, Capcom or Bandai Namco afaik. Mainly Sega/Atlus left.

It’s about time they get the Actiblizz deal sorted out so Xbox is able to give Game Pass more appeal again (instead of keeping it relatively small) with renewed contracts with developers / publishers. Or just flood it with indie releases.

Re: Microsoft Refers To Lack Of Xbox Exclusives As Why ActiBlizz Deal Should Be Approved

I’d say a bigger problem for Xbox is that Sony is buying small bonusses for games, such as timed exclusives, exclusive promotions or advertising options, exclusive features, weapons or characters in the game.

Something like the street fighter 2 inclusion in street fighter 6 if you have street fighter 5 on your playstation. It is very small, but it makes the game on playstation feel like the superior version. Xbox needs a couple of long term series to feel superior on Xbox without the need to actually make them.

They could do something with the Dragon Quest series, with GTA, with all EA sports, Mass effect, Star Wars series, Soul Calibur, etc. So those games also say ‘this is what you need an Xbox for’.

What if the deal doesn’t go through?

Xbox might buy EA and pull all sports games from Sony’s platform out of spite. Or even Take Two for GTA, Capcom for RE or Street Fighter, or Square Enix for Final Fantasy…

And Activision Blizzard might not close any deal with Sony afterwards out of spite since they will probably lose a lot of value on the stock market.

Btw… microsoft and AB game publishing revenue combined doesn’t even reach Sony’s revenue. Seriously… what is Sony smoking….? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_game_publisher

@NEStalgia it’s true that Nintendo went more mainstream instead of being that weird kid in the corner playing with all bunch of smaller games.

One may like it and some maybe not so much. That’s true.

But after astral chain nintendo first published link’s awakening, luigi’s mansion, ring fit adventure, dragon quest xi s and pokemon sword and shield, before going into hiatus during the pandemic. It was a very strong ending in 2019. And I’m 100% not blaming them for anything not being released in 2020. Was a horrible year for everyone, and 2021 is still horrible in lots of places, even so in Japan.

So it all comes down to expectations.

Nintendo still has a lot of whacky releases though. I mean, Miitopia just released. And game garage builder will release in a week or so. Then there’s stuff such as good job, snipper clips and the stretchers which I all adore. Famicom detective club is also a weird one in a way considering it comes from a major publisher.

Nintendo is holding back a little bit on new big massive releases but there’s loads of experiences for 99% of the people having a switch.

@BlueOcean Next Level Games was considered a 2nd party developer.

Nintendo has not many development studios themselves, they always outsource a lot. Even Mario Party, the Mario Sports games and stuff such as Fire Emblem and Pokemon are 2nd party.

Funny to see a big rant / discussion on Nintendo on an xbox forum.

@NEStalgia Are you saying the switch has no switch exclusive first party games? Also, how many exclusives have xbox and sony released thenselves last year?

Also, sony earns way more from 3d party stuff than Nintendo. Look at what their fifa and cod revenue is. Especially from micro transactions.

Re: Here's The Full List Of Xbox Series X|S Launch Day Titles

Friendly

@masofdas massive list. However, there’s no Zelda Breath of the Wild in either list, so Nintendo has still won the recent console launch competition even though they had, what, six games?

I’ll get the Xbox series X when Flight Simulator launches! Will be my first Xbox, but with the backwards compatibility I won’t have to miss a thing! I’m especially excited to play the Fable series for the first time.

I also can’t wait to finally see the other side of the argument between Metroid Prime and Halo. I was 100% sure MP was the better game. Without ever playing Halo... Oh, stupid me...
