Was a good show overall! Slightly saddened that Xbox goed back to exclusivity because it muddies the water again. And it’s not as if people are now willing to buy hardware, so why not just stick to the plan of play anywhere. But hey, so be it…

You’d think the higher ups would get some blame for all the years Xbox has been treated so badly.

Never got it, why is exclusivity a good thing for consumers? It isnt. It never will be.

They made all the right decisions at the start of this generation, would have beat Playstation if they’d just sticked to the plan. But now Microsoft is continuously going back to making stupid decisions. More muddy advertising, again. And next year? They’ll decide something new. Again. I don’t see Xbox recover from the suits anymore.

Sucks a bit tbh. I just want to have one system being able to play everything and I love my switch 2, not so much my Xbox series X. Just release every game on Nintendo hardware too, xbox. They’re not so much your competitor.

@Banjo- not about xbox per se, about the ease public opinions change in general. Because ultimately Microsoft Gaming is still run by Nadella and shareholders.

Therefore, nothing will change, apart from how the story is told. Xbox player voice was already there, it now just has a new name. Gamepass is still much more expensive than last year, so just a small bandaid. The new team consists of two persons from Amazon studios and Microsoft Azure, with expertise in (writing books about) AI, microsoft Teams and Metaverse. Just what gamers want….. to me all of them are there just to appeal to shareholders.

It just baffles me so many people fall for these tricks and change opinions so quickly without anything substantial to point at. That’s all.

Branding and politics.

Edit: btw, to me Xbox did all the right things this gen (giving players a choice where and how they want to play, backwards compatibility, gamepass) but didn’t get rewarded for it. I went from a PS4 to Xbox series because of the early changes. The problem was their marketing throughout the gen - mainly their change of their strategy / story every year, such as new tiers for gamepass, including / excluding call of duty, etc etc. Resulted in trust issues for their brand.

Nail in the coffin was Nadella taking the reigns after the Activision Blizzard deal, cutting thousands of jobs, and throwing Xbox branding away via making everything multiplatform. No idea why you’d own an Xbox. Again, change of their strategy, where I think Nadella should have just been patient.

Now again, a change in strategy. It’s a recurring trend. And after 6-12 months either Nadella or the shareholders are fed up and they will take the reigns again and flip the script once more (resulting in thousands of layoffs again).

@Banjo- most of the things you mentioned must have started way before ‘she arrived’. To me it’s baffling that a vibe changes even though when you look from a distance, nothing substantial has changed. Politics.

@Banjo- my question was genuine, and my reaction a summary. But i see, what has changed is the feeling for users being allowed to provide feedback and that already apparently makes the users feel positive. Even though no change has been made with that information so far.

I won’t mourne Xbox’s departure from exclusivity, to be honest, as long as they keep producing creative games. Games that provide something new for the industry. And Fable does look like one of those games. A light-hearted triple AAA wrpg is something truly unique, and because it releases on multiple platforms they could probably bear the risk. This is a way better approach to reduce risks imo compared to focus on micro transactions or games as a service.

It is a big plus vs playstation though. Not sure why’d one would stick with that ecosystem anymore. Also since they almost have no exclusive releases anymore.

@ElectricWizard you’re intrinsically paying for their drop into gamepass though. Same with ubisoft+ and EA play. Why does the pool of games have to be so large, such that the subscription fee has to be so high?

Why would anyone want to play 75 games on day one? That’s 1/5 of a year. Nobody has that time to play that many games…

@Gabrie moderate specs, but better performance because it has a very good setup. It has a lot better performance than all steam deck versions according to digital foundry.

And yes, the rog ally will require a lot of tinkering and only a handful of people are willing to do that. Most people are casuals. Which is why I’m craving a new Windows OS for handhelds for years…

My feeling says that the management shifted strategies so fast last and this gen that consumers never were able to settle this generation. Consumers usually make an informed decision when it comes to tech. Consumers were never able to.
