One of the biggest releases coming our way in January 2024 is Ubisoft's Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, which arrives for Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on the 18th, and it seems to be shaping up well so far.

Over the past week, various outlets have been sharing some hands-on impressions of the game, the vast majority of which have been positive. We've collected a few samples from these that you can read down below:

IGN

"Ubisoft's first properly new Prince of Persia game since the 2008 reboot is its own game – a Metroidvania – and it's such a great fit that I'm scratching my head wondering how this franchise and genre never got together before."

Windows Central

"Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown has excellent and fluid combat, precise platforming, an interesting and varied world, and more secrets than you can count."

TechRadar

"Combat mechanics are responsive, traversal is a joy, and the plot, while undoubtedly present, paints its mythology with broad, accessible brush strokes that don’t leave you caught up in unnecessary detail."

If you're interested, Prince of Persia:The Lost Crown is already available to pre-order on the Xbox Store at a price of £44.99 / $49.99 for the standard edition, and the Deluxe Edition will be included with Ubisoft Plus at launch as well.

Before the full release arrives though, you'll also be able to try it for yourself on January 11th in the form of a free Xbox demo, so be sure to keep a lookout for that in the week leading up to launch. A nice way to kick off the new year!
