Re: Xbox Game Pass Likely Surpassed 33 Million Subs Last Year, Claims Analyst

Friendly

@NeoRatt true. I indeed calculated revenue, not profit.

It’s a service on top of all the other services they have to keep up and running: online play, social options, cloud save, even the online shop. Servers are therefore already there. It’s nothing more than an extra option to play games and pay for them. And the subscription has various options. So it’s very difficult to determine if game pass in particular is profitable or not because how do you divide all the costs over all the services Microsoft is offering?

What should be profitable is the gaming section for Microsoft as a whole, and it most likely is (when looking at their investment for ABK).

Nintendo’s revenue over 2023 was $ 12 billion. Microsoft most likely reaches 25% of that with game pass subscriptions alone, not even sales, other services or hardware.

Re: Phil Spencer Thanks Xbox Developer Direct Teams, Praises Show Format

I absolutely love this format. It gives a little bit of insight into who worked on the game and their thoughts going into the game. And while doing that, it just shows a lot of respect to these people and their hard work.

It feels like a garnished meal in a dining restaurant, compared to a quick sushi break in a sushi bar that is the Nintendo Direct.

Re: Poll: How Would You Grade The Xbox Developer Direct 2024?

Absolutely A for me. 3 out of 5 games I’ll play day 1 (or weekend 1 for that matter). And I really dig the format of giving a spotlight to the people that made the games. This must be so thrilling to them.

This’ll be an awesome year for xbox. Especially if they sprinkle in a little bit of acti-blizz on gamepass.

@Kaloudz

3. Sexy mod
4. Nude mod
5. Tentacle mod

I think those will he 1., 2. And 3. though, knowing the internet.

But I’m mostly looking forward to the cool physics stuff people come up with. Maybe somebody will make a mod to include the functionality of ultra hand (from Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom) to this game. That would be very cool!

Re: Report Claims Xbox Series X|S Sales Have Fallen By Around 15% In 2023

All I know xbox has saved me a lot of money last year with game pass. All those awesome indies and a few big budget games I usually buy physical for switch I have now played with use of my subscription on my xbox series x or on my phone with remote play or via the cloud.

Their service just rocks. It’s a complete package. And I can’t wait for their upcoming exclusives which they’ll be ramping up from now on now that the ABK deal is done. As others have said they’re now completely in for the long run.

And the only games I feel I am missing out on on PS5 only (and not on PS4) are the final fantasy games which we’ll get to see on pc or xbox anyway.

Re: Blizzard Open To StarCraft Revival Under Microsoft, New Idea Requires 'Vision And Passion'

@HonestHick i agree with you on the stance of Blizzard. I was a huge fan, even a bit zealous, of everything Starcraft and Warcraft. Such a shame Metzen, Michael Morhaime and Pearce left, and most of the top of Activision-Blizzard did those outrageous stuff to their employees. Made me quit Blizzard games all-together. Hopefully Spencer and his team is able to improve circumstances of the Blizzard team again and enough.

Re: Talking Point: What Would Convince You To Use Xbox Cloud Gaming More Often?

Friendly

Give me a dedicated handheld and/or all the turn based rpg’s I can get on game pass or a way to play my library on xcloud and it’s a go!

Action games, fighters, fps and platformers are not suitable for xcloud. Action adventures and especially puzzle games and turn based or strategy rpg’s are very well suited for cloud gaming. So we need more or easier access to those types of games. I’d play it on the train, in the park or on the toilet at work.
