Re: Talking Point: Xbox One Users, What Do You Think Of The Console In 2023?

EvilSilentFrame

My youngest just got an Xbox series S yesterday. I ditched the Xbox one a couple years ago for the series X but he was sticking with his Xbox one. He loved it. I think if it wasn’t for his friends, he’d still be using the Xbox one. His friends have a series S. When loading into a game, they would be waiting on him and he was getting very frustrated with the loading time. He didn’t want to turn off his Xbox when he wasn’t playing it because he didn’t want to wait for it to start up. I think a big part of why people and especially kids didn’t want an upgrade right away is due to all these live service games. It’s still available on old hardware and that’s pretty much all they play. So why bother upgrading? Now they are seeing the loading times being so much faster on the new hardware and feeling the pressure from those that have the better hardware.

Re: SEGA Confirms Plans To Acquire Angry Birds Creator For €706 Million

EvilSilentFrame

Though Angry Birds isn’t as big as it used to be, it’s still popular in some countries. Merging these two companies seems like a good business idea, SEGA can get more of their IP on mobile, and Rovio wants to expand more into other areas. They can help each other out. I’m having a feeling they’ll have an Angry Birds style game with Sonic characters using different abilities. I like many on here want to see SEGA bring back some of the dormant IPs. I’m hoping that leak on JSR is true and we get something soon.

Re: Leaked Clips Of Two Classic SEGA Remakes Appear Online

EvilSilentFrame

I’m hoping the rumors are true of a new Jet Set Radio. I absolutely loved the first one so much that when I found out the second one was going to Xbox, I ran out and bought one just for the game. I’ve been with Xbox since.

I thought it was announced before that SEGA was considering another JSR game, but was thinking of having it as a live service game. If it’s something like that, I don’t want it. I just want to buy the game and have a great single player experience.

Re: Best Resident Evil Games Ranked - Which Mainline Entry Is Number One?

EvilSilentFrame

@themightyant I too am surprised by how close this poll is among all the games. I have a theory for this. I think some (not all. I know somebody will read this and get upset that I mean all.) did not read the poll or misunderstood the poll. The article lists them worst to best but taking the poll they wanted us to list them best to worst. I’m guessing after seeing where things fell in the article (worst to best) they took the poll the same way (worst to best) and ranked them backwards leaving the numbers very split in the poll.

Re: Microsoft Issues Statement In Response To 'Redfall On PS5' Reports

EvilSilentFrame

I don’t think Microsoft needed to comment on this. Maybe they were feeling the pressure since it’s become a topic from the IGN interview. I can see both sides points.

It was in the original plans to develop the game with PS5 being a part of that. Nobody wants to be left out and I can see why PlayStation gamers are upset. They feel lied to.

Xbox gamers remember Microsoft saying in terms of exclusivity, it would be a case by case basis. MS decided to make these games exclusive. They own the companies and are able to do that.

Do I feel like PS gamers were lied to? Tough to say. It was a “case by case basis” and that was said after the acquisition was final. Then there’s the “not pulling games from PlayStation.” These are new IPs so they weren’t on PS before, but they were being developed with PS in mind too…. It’s a tough call. I think MS just shouldn’t have said anything. It’s going to be an argument between gamers that neither side is going to win the argument on.

Re: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Shreds Its Way Onto Xbox Game Pass This August

EvilSilentFrame

@senote unfortunately they didn’t know how long that lawsuit was going to last. It definitely took its time in the courts. I would have liked to of seen them continue with the game once the lawsuit was over, but even then there was no guarantee at that time they could continue when the lawsuit was settled. They mentioned more maps, counselors, modes… and then the lawsuit stopped all that. I agree it gave them a way out, but you could tell by how much detail they took from the movies, that they were huge fans of the series. Just bad timing. I know not everyone liked the game. It was a buggy mess, but I liked it and would have liked more.

Re: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Shreds Its Way Onto Xbox Game Pass This August

EvilSilentFrame

The first movie scared the crap out of me when I was a teen. I’m curious how the game is going to turn out. I’ll be checking it out on gamepass. I know Friday the 13th was filled with bugs, but I liked what they did with the game. They did their homework and there were so many nods to the movies. I wonder how it would have turned out if they were able to keep going with that series. The lawsuit stopped them from making more content. After that, they kind of gave up on updating bugs. I hope they’ve learned from their mistakes and this is a more solid game.

Re: Reaction: Should Xbox Produce A Mid-Gen Upgrade If Sony Launches 'PS5 Pro'?

EvilSilentFrame

I don’t think it’s needed. They haven’t tapped into the full potential of the series systems yet. Then having three different current gen systems with different amounts of power, rumors have it devs have a hard time getting split screen co op to work between the series S and X. (Again it’s a rumor) I think adding an upgrade will make it harder. Also, would it be two different upgrades? One with a disk drive and one without?

And I thought they did the upgrade last gen mid way due to the demand for something. Was it 4k or HD? I can’t remember. I’m not a tech person but there was another reason for the push of the mid gen upgrade.

Re: Microsoft Signs Another 10-Year Deal In Its Bid To Buy Activision Blizzard

EvilSilentFrame

I knew CoD was big but I never realized how big it was till this acquisition started. All this fighting over this one series. There’s so many games between Activision, Blizzard, and King, but the focus is on CoD. Makes me wonder after the deal closes (which I think is going to happen) if porting the game to all these different devices is going to effect the game at all? I don’t play CoD but will it affect its performance and yearly time schedule? I’m not knocking the deal or anything. I’m just curious because of all the crunch they do over there already. Now it’s adding more on their plates.

Re: Resident Evil 4's Remake Has Supposedly Been Leaked

EvilSilentFrame

I’m not really worried about spoilers. I agree with what everybody on here is saying, that it is an old game so the story has been out, but I don’t think many read the article above. They mentioned the spoilers were more about “gameplay, character’s design, encounters, and much much more.” That being said I’m still not worried about being spoiled. Though I’m looking forward to playing the remake, I wasn’t excited for this one. I wanted some of the older titles remade before this one.

Re: Review: Project Zero: Mask Of The Lunar Eclipse - A Barebones Revamp For Survival Horror That's Beginning To Show Its Age

EvilSilentFrame

I don’t care about clunky controls. I’ve always been able to manage and I keep in mind that this is an old game while I’ll be playing it. Sometimes the controls help the tension in horror games. Otherwise it can be a bit too easy and feel less intense. I cannot wait to play this one. I thought I would never get to play it. This franchise is one of my favorites and the fact it’s finally coming to the west is such a thrill. I wasn’t expecting it to get a great score. The series isn’t for everybody, but for me, this is my CoD or GTA.

Re: Talking Point: Where Do You Want 'Tomb Raider' To Go Next?

EvilSilentFrame

I want the series to go along the lines of the article. I want isolation. I want the series to go back similar to how it used to be. Or at least shades of how it used to be.

The newer games were good but they weren’t very Tomb Raider to me. I can appreciate what they were trying to do with the series but it was too action packed. It was too much guns blazing and not enough exploring.

The older games you truly felt alone. I remember the original almost had a touch of the horror feel to it. Exploring caves and tombs. Being in a world where humans didn’t walk in many years. Discovering artifacts and locations. Solving puzzles and completing missing pieces of a wheel to progress. Then the dangers of the animals in the area. In the first game I think there was only two or three humans in the whole game. I was on an adventure that made me feel like I was the only one able to get to these places.

The newer games they wanted to explore Lara’s past and I’m okay with that but they lost the spark of what made her character and the feel of the game. Lara lost her sassiness. Her confidence. Maybe she hadn’t built all that up yet but I didn’t recognize the character. Then I wasn’t alone. I was traveling with others. Yes I separated from them but there was enemy humans everywhere. Lara had yet to kill anybody. She makes her first kill and it affects here. I was okay with that, but I had issues with her taking down wave after wave of combat trained men with guns. I was no longer alone. I was a novice but I’m killing army’s of soldiers? It didn’t add up to me. Where were the tombs? Where were the traps? Where were the puzzles? The artifacts? The locations nobody had step foot on in centuries? I think I would have liked the games better if they didn’t include Tomb Raider characters, namely Laura. I would like the game better if it was just a brand new franchise, brand new character. I would’ve been OK with that. I’m not bashing the games, I liked them. I just didn’t love them. I love the old Tomb Raider franchise. That’s what I want more of.

Re: Capcom Showcase To Feature Resident Evil 4, Exoprimal & More Later This Month

EvilSilentFrame

I’ll be getting the RE 4 remake. I don’t need to see more. I would watch their show on the 9th but Fatal Frame (Project Zero) Mask of the Lunar Eclipse comes out that day. I’ll be busy with that. Capcom has been on a roll lately. I’d like to see them get back to Dead Rising again. I know they closed that part that used to develop those games, but I feel like with how great they have been doing lately, they can breathe new life into that franchise.

Re: Xbox Expected To Win Activision Blizzard Battle In EU, Suggests Report

EvilSilentFrame

@BadAtPickingUsername I agree. I don’t think a full priced game should have battle passes, cosmetic purchases, or micro transitions either. I miss the days when you bought a game, the whole game was there. All the content meant for the game was there at launch. I understand free to play games doing it. I don’t like it but since it’s free, I get why they do it but a full priced game, I want the complete package.

Re: Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Discusses The Importance Of Platform Exclusives

EvilSilentFrame

So much arguing over a brand new IP none of us have even played. We don’t know if it’s going to be a huge success or if it will tank. Arguing over what Phil said, or didn’t say, couldn’t say, or what he implied and for what? Where is it getting any of us? Team Xbox isn’t going to sway Team PlayStation nor the other way around. There’s games that sometimes don’t come to your platform of choice. We’ve all been there.

I wasn’t happy over the Silent Hill 2 remake PS5 12 month exclusivity but I’m not going to bash Sony or PlayStation gamers for it. I have a choice. I can either get a PS5 and play it there, I can play it on steam, or I can continue waiting to see if the 12 months exclusivity is true. Other games have been supposedly timed and never came over to Xbox. I’m not happy about it but it is what it is. I have three options to pick from. Those that want to play Starfield have options to choose. It may not be the option you were hoping for, but you got options.

Re: Fatal Frame: Mask Of The Lunar Eclipse Unveils Story Trailer As Xbox Pre-Orders Go Live

EvilSilentFrame

@Kaloudz it’s been awhile and I actually forgot about the girl that jingles. I know in the first one, when she would see the rope maiden, you would sometimes hear a bell. Just a quick single chime, but I’m pretty sure it was part two that had the girl that jingled. I think she was in a reddish kimono and would run past. Trying to fight her in tight hallways was a pain, but yes it was very creepy.

Re: Fatal Frame: Mask Of The Lunar Eclipse Unveils Story Trailer As Xbox Pre-Orders Go Live

EvilSilentFrame

@Kaloudz @Banjo- I also rarely ever preorder games. This one is preordered already. I also got the deluxe edition. I’m hoping by spending more, it’ll encourage the original trilogy and future games for the series. I’d love to play the first 3 again. I still have have them on Xbox and PS2, but I’d like to play them on current gen systems.

I’m very much looking forward to Mask of the Lunar Eclipse. I’m hoping it’s more like the first couple games than Maiden of the Black Water. Though I enjoyed that game and was happy it came out on current systems, I felt the game lacked a little something. The older titles played in a continuous progression, where V played in segments or chapters with a safe zone between them. IV is coming very soon so I’ll find out then, can’t wait!

Re: Fatal Frame: Mask Of The Lunar Eclipse Unveils Story Trailer As Xbox Pre-Orders Go Live

EvilSilentFrame

@Banjo- @Kaloudz that is great news for the series, thank you for sharing that! PZ/FF always seemed to be in the shadows of other horror games and never got the recognition it deserved. Because of that, it didn’t sell very well. I don’t know if Nintendo still has say what platforms it will be on in the future. Locking it to one platform didn’t do the series justice.

As you both said, I also want the trilogy remastered. I’m curious if they do give us that, what order it would be in. They started with V and then IV, that trend would make me believe III would be next, but that game is much closer tied to the first two games than IV or V are to any other game. So I wonder if they give us all 3 at one time, or do they start with the first game and go up from there.

Re: Poll: How Many Games Have You Bought Because Of Xbox Free Play Days?

EvilSilentFrame

I haven’t bought anything from the free to play days. All the games that have been featured on there, I only used it once. I don’t really try them out because I like to take my time when playing games. So I don’t want to get hooked because I’m also really frugal. There’s only a few games I pay full price for. The rest I wait for sales.

Re: Double Fine Unveils 32-Part Documentary On The Making Of Psychonauts 2

EvilSilentFrame

That’s an interesting take on creating a documentary on the creation of a game. As a gamer, I always wonder how much work goes into creating the game, but this give is a more human level. We not only see the people working on the game, you get their emotions and feel their pressure to deliver. 32 episodes is a lot. I don’t know if I’ll watch every single one of them, but I am curious to see more after watching the trailer.
