Yesterday, one of the games we highlighted in our big February 2026 Xbox new releases roundup was Icarus: Console Edition — and it's a game that actually only got dated for Xbox this week as well.

This is a solo and co-op survival experience for up to four players, in which you'll land on a broken and hostile planet called "Icarus" and have to make weapons, find food, build shelter and do whatever else it takes to both survive and thrive in this environment. There's an open world element to the game, but there are also timed missions and Outposts where you can engage in creative building and experimentation.

The development team for Icarus was actually founded by the creator of DayZ, Dean Hall.

Land on ICARUS, a planet broken due to failed terraforming. Once meant to be humanity’s second home, it is now a hostile frontier of toxic skies, savage wildlife, and relentless storms. Every drop from orbit is a fight for survival. Build shelter, craft weapons, hunt for food, and seek your fortune in exotic matter. Survive alone or with up to four players in this uncompromising PvE survival game from the creator of DayZ.

Icarus has already been on PC since December of 2021 where it has a "Mostly Positive" rating with "Very Positive" recent reviews. The console version includes the New Frontiers expansion from the start, meaning you get access to an additional map and biomes, six extra missions, and new creatures, items, exotics and resources.

The only downside we can see for Icarus: Console Edition is that it sadly won't support crossplay, which means the Xbox version won't work with the PC or PS5 versions. Aside from that, this game looks awesome — and you can pre-order it now on the Xbox Store for Xbox Series X|S at a price of £32.99 / $39.99.

Icarus: Console Edition will officially release for Xbox on February 26th, 2026. Here are some more details:

"Explore a savage wilderness in the aftermath of terraforming gone wrong. Survive the Open World, complete timed Missions or build your Outpost. Explore, build, craft and hunt while seeking your fortune and prospecting for exotic matter."

"ICARUS resists your presence; poisoned air, lightning storms that tear apart structures, wildfires that spread unchecked, and predators that stalk in the shadows. It feels like the planet itself wants to drive you back into orbit."
