It's no secret that Helldivers 2 has been a bit of a smash hit for Sony, with the game exploding in popularity on PS5 and PC before heading to Xbox last year. And, in its latest analysis on the game, Alinea Analytics has provided a sales breakdown across all platforms, whilst also reporting that the Arrowhead title has now sold 20 million copies all-in (based on their own estimates).
Yep, according to the firm, 2025's Xbox Series X|S release "gave Helldivers 2 the push it needed to cross the 20M milestone". The analysis goes on to say that the Xbox release has contributed 1.6 million copies to that number since launch in August of last year.
"The Xbox edition, which launched a-year-and-a-half later in August 2025, gave Helldivers 2 the push it needed to cross the 20M milestone (contributing 1.6 million units)."

The blog post also shows a separate graph detailing how Helldivers 2 has performed over time, comparing the "immediate, explosive" early sales on Xbox to "PlayStation’s broader, compounding long-tail". We'll throw that graph down below to show you how the game has sold over time so far:

Despite our focus being on Xbox vs. PS5 (naturally), Steam PC is the clear top-dog when it comes to single platform sales. Of the reported 20 million units shifted so far, over 13 million of them were on Steam, according to Alinea Analytics.
The firm closes out its latest look at the Sony title by saying that "Helldivers 2’s aesthetic fits the Xbox military-sci-fi sensibilities perfectly" — leading to decent sales — and that the game has become "a generational success" akin to the likes of Baldur's Gate 3 and Elden Ring.
