Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.63 Includes A Performance Fix On Xbox

BRT15

I'm actually really looking forward to replay this game after hearing of all the changes they've made for the expansion. So far all the previews from journalists and YouTubers have been glowing.

I'm guessing this update is not that update and that update comes later with the expansion. I'm sure that sentence makes a lot of sense. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Re: Starfield At 30FPS Is A Creative Decision, Says Xbox's Phil Spencer

BRT15

Personally I'm a bit bummed cause i think 1440p-60fps should be kind of doable, but with the scale they're going for, I don't have much qualms about it.

I'm just remembering playing RDR2 on my base PS4 in 2018 when it came out and how I was in awe of the visuals that the frames never bothered me. So with this, I'm sure it will be jarring at first but if the visuals hit, then it's not gonna be an issue.

Re: Here's Everything That Was Revealed At The Xbox Games Showcase 2023

BRT15

This showcase was just fantastic! Easily lightyears ahead from the other showcases I've seen this far this summer. Also much more in there than I expected, especially from the like of Compulsion and InExile.

The one nitpick I had was, I was not sure of where the in-engine footage was being played on. Was it PC? Was it one of the Series consoles? I wish there was more transparency there.

Re: Report: Redfall Playtesters 'Shocked' At How Little The Game Changed During Development

BRT15

@themightyant yeah I agree with you mate. I think they are doing better than what people think but I wouldn't call it a success.

And if you remember the state in launched in, it was both a creatively and technically bankrupt game. Not to forget that it was also full priced.

I went back and watched the some reviews of that game after Redfall launched and it was a shameful exercise in marketing when you hear how noncommittal Bethesda was to what the game actually is.

Would personally be overjoyed if all these live service games that have no other goal than monetisation, to die a violent death.

Re: Report: Redfall Playtesters 'Shocked' At How Little The Game Changed During Development

BRT15

Wow it's really disappointing to see that 70% of the minds that made Prey is no longer there and I don't think this bodes well for the studio moving forward.

Overall there are huge lessons that need to be learned and learned quickly by both Bethesda and Xbox.

1. Chasing trends like multiplayer and live service needs to stop especially when it's forcing teams who make Singleplayer games to do it. Bethesda has had 3 go-s at this and all 3 have failed miserably. Fallout 76, Wolfenstein:Youngblood and now Redfall. I even expect many of Sony's live service games to fail (we've already kind of seen the first casualty there).

2. This 100% hands off approach from Microsoft will simply not work.

I think what leaves such a bitter taste in the mouth is that Xbox knew the state of the game after the takeover, knew the state of the studio with the mass-exodus and not only did they choose to release the game but charge you that premium price of 70$/80โ‚ฌ for it. Knowing this now, I think consumers and fans have a right to doubt the platform moving forward. Also worrying on what adding more studios through the ABK acquisition is going to mean for Xbox management.

Re: Talking Point: What Are Your Plans For The Xbox Games Showcase 2023?

BRT15

Oh wow it starts 1pm US time? Was expecting to be in the night and was gonna just catch up on the news the next day, but seeing as it's in the evening here in Europe, will definitely catch it live.

Here's to finally getting a damn release date for Forza Motorsport that's not 2024 or something crazy like that. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Re: Xbox's Appeal Against UK ActiBlizz Verdict Set For July 2023

BRT15

@Kaloudz ouch that sounds like an absolute slaughter!

It goes to show that the CMA have no legitimate reasons nor facts to back those reasons up when it comes to the blocking of this deal. It also shows that they are way out of their depth when it comes to these sort of international deals.

Real embarrassing...

Re: Xbox's Appeal Against UK ActiBlizz Verdict Set For July 2023

BRT15

@Cherip-the-Ripper think the deal will still go through but ABK games won't be offered on Xbox services in the UK. Just sold as games, as is now.

This sucks obviously for UK consumers and makes you wonder whose interest the CMA is looking out for. They are neither interested in the effects on the commercial side of things since many cloud services have signed deals with Microsoft to bring these games on their service and neither are they interested in the positive nature of this deal to consumers in the UK.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 20-21)

BRT15

@RaZieLDaNtE yeah I really enjoyed and can see why you're a big fan. As we talked about it, love how personal these stories are since it's carried over from game to game.

Can really see myself coming back to replay this in the future.

Now it's time for me to go back and rewatch The Expanse. ME gave me such Expanse vibes, another reason why I loved it.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 20-21)

BRT15

@RaZieLDaNtE so mate, I wanted to finish the game before coming back and replying to ya. I thought the ending was good and one that gave choice as is to be expected from Mass Effect. I read online that the original games ending was different and a lot was added to the endings over the years. So overall very happy with the series.

P.S. that cutscene at the start of the final mission with all the ships arriving at earth brought a tear to my eye after gathering over 7000 TMS. ๐Ÿฅน

Re: THQ Nordic Offers To Publish Physical Version Of Alan Wake 2

BRT15

@themightyant yeah for sure but over the last few years to seem to have gotten into some dodgy publishing deals. For example with Control and 505 games and now with Epic.

Personally and not because I'm commenting on an Xbox site, they would fit well with Xbox Game Studios, seeing how hands off they are with their studios. Especially creatively. In reality I'm sure it's more complicated than that but from the outside looking in, it's quite strange cause they put out real quality games.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 20-21)

BRT15

@RaZieLDaNtE yeah I wanna see how it plays out but as I was saying I'm a little wary of it being a bit of a disappointment. Either way the journey with the 3 games have been very very good. I think the thing that gets me and that I haven't seen it done in any other game is the idea of bringing your choice from one game to the next. It makes the play through so personal and makes you really think about your decisions cause it will be carried forward.

Just stumbled upon this piece on Eurogamer where they spoke to some of the key folk at BioWare about Mass Effect:

https://www.eurogamer.net/making-mass-effect-from-the-birth-of-a-trilogy-to-andromeda-and-beyond

Have a good one mate.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 20-21)

BRT15

@RaZieLDaNtE I don't know if I'll go back and play all of them from the start again as I've already put in 100+ hours in the Legendary Edition so far but definitely enjoying my time with it. The story and cast of characters are really well written. Also it gives me a bit of The Expanse vibes ( a show I absolutely love).

I must say though, I'm slightly dreading the ending of Mass Effect 3 cause of how well documented it is as one of the worst/unsatisfactory endings in a game...

Re: EA Details Next Major Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Update, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

BRT15

@Sherhi as someone who works as an engineer in the automotive industry, I can tell you that is not true. Simply because facelifts of model updates typically have not only visual updates but also technical updates to certain components where there may have been a new design to it but this isn't the point.

The point, there is 0% chance that a manufacturer would put out a product that they know is flawed 100% of the time to sell to the public. For example sake, in automotive, a Mercedes or a BMW selling a 6 cylinder car would never say, "oh well 2 of the 6 cylinders are misfiring on all our cars, but f**k it were gonna sell it anyway". That would never happen.

If you're talking about manufacturing defects, then all of the happen due to various reasons in the manufacturing process, be it a machine fault or human error but again a quality assurance or management team would never intentionally approve a 100% flawed product in the manufacturing to sell to the customers. And this applies to every manufacturing industry because people will generally just not buy a broken product.

So yeah, this only seems to happen in gaming. I can't even think of other media (movies, music) where this happens.

Re: EA Details Next Major Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Update, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

BRT15

@Bartig buddy it's not about "hatehypetrain" (don't even know what that means) but objectively this is the only industry where someone could sell you a broken, unfinished product at full price and be ok with it, When you can get the finished product, whenever that is, at a fraction of the price.

If you feel you got your moneys worth that's good for you but the principle behind it is not ok.
