Pokémon Dev Teams Up With Take-Two To Create New IP

This is a pretty big surprise! Last night, the team at Private Division — a publishing arm of 2K owner Take-Two — announced a brand-new partnership with Pokémon developer Game Freak. The two companies will be working together on 'Project Bloom', a new action adventure IP.

For now, we don't know any of the platforms this title will launch on, but we'd expect it to come to Xbox as a multiplatform game, similar to other Private Division releases. Wherever it does eventually launch, don't expect to see it for a while yet.

"Project Bloom is in early development and does not yet have an announced release date. It is expected to launch during Take-Two’s Fiscal Year 2026. Private Division and Game Freak look forward to sharing more details about this game in the future."

The team at Game Freak says that this upcoming effort will be "tonally different from our prior work", and going by the above concept art shared by the team, we have to say it does have quite a different vibe to Pokémon! Here's what the dev has to say about the project:

"We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to create new IP that is bold and tonally different from our prior work [...] From the beginning, Private Division was the publisher we wanted to work with on our new game. Their track record and global expertise give us all the confidence to create a sweeping new action-adventure game that we can’t wait to share more about in the future."

Hopefully soon we get confirmation of the launch platforms for Project Bloom - we'd love to see what the Pokémon team could do with Xbox Series X|S hardware!
