I dont think FFXIV is ever going to come to xbox and thats in large because of Sony, not because of regulations, or rules etc. It's not coming to xbox for the exact same reason FFVII remakes (all three of them) FFXVI, Octopath Traveler 2, Star Ocean, valkyrie elysium etc are not coming. Because of SE and their relationship with Sony.

The only reason FFVII:CC is coming is because its not a main entry title and it was already shooting for multiplatform to begin with. It's a remake of a handheld game also coming to everything else, so porting a FFVII title, even if it is not a FF rpg or a main entry game still carries the FFVII title and has a higher chance at selling then other games.

Sony has been playing this keeping games off xbox for years now. They have just gotten a lot more aggressive lately in large part, I believe, because they fear gamepass and it's potential future domination of digital game subscriptions, so they are doing everything they can to keep stuff off of xbox or at least to have part exclusivity to the PS ecosystem as much as possible.

@BartoxAbrasiveness I still dont buy the whole, SE early support of xbox. Every game they have released on xbox has already been multiple from the beginning with a few exceptions here and there (octpathtravler) . Everything xbox has gotten in the past and stuff coming in the future is also coming to PC, switch and even mobile in some cames (and of course PS) so those games, Chrono Cross, FFVII:CC coming to xbox is really not that big of a deal when its already coming to everything else. Once a game gets released digitally on a system it could potentially be there for 10+ years slowly accumulating sales so to bring a game to xbox thats already coming to everything else isnt that big of a deal, nor does it cost a whole lot. The gamepass games are another store, but FFVII:CC and all other recent SE games have not been on gamepass anyways.

@BartoxAbrasiveness There was an interview I saw a while back stating why FFXIV is still not out on xbox. And it wasn't because of policies, but that Sony didn't want future main editions of final fantasy to be on xbox, including XIV because it also made good money on the PS ecosystem. Not sure how true this is, but it makes sense when you look at present SE and how many games now, "miss" xbox when more then ever before Japanese companies are releasing games on xbox.

Re: Xbox's ActiBlizz Deal Set To Face Further Investigations, Sony Issues Critical Statement

Many people keep saying Microsoft removing CoD from playstation would not be a smart business move.... But is that really the case? When Gamepass targets Xbox, PC and Mobile which is probably 80% or more of the gaming world. Outside of America, Europe and Japan most of the world does not console game. I lived in China for 6 years and only had a few friends that were in HS who owned a console. Now I live in Malaysia and dont know anyone. Everyone mobile games or pc games.

I hope once this deal goes through Microsoft steps in and forces this deal with Sony and CoD to just end, no more three years, no more CoD on PS. Then Sony would understand how dirty they have been playing for a while, Spiderman, Final Fantasy VII, etc.

Jim you sound like a little spoiled brat who can't have his way so you start crying online to get salt support from gamers

Re: Best Xbox RPGs

Ashadelo

half these games are not RPG's. A good chunk are action games, adventure games, shooters, dungeon crawlers with RPG elements, might as well throw in fifa, 2k, madden, ring fit as well as they also have just as much rpg elements if not more then some of the games on this list.

Re: Metal Gear Solid Is Reportedly Getting A New Remastered Collection

MGS used to be in my top three favorite game franchises of all time. But... for me... MGS5 just really really failed hard and went in so many different directions that it didn't feel like MGS anymore.

This is how I rank MGS1-5. I have replayed all of them many many times, except for 5....
1. MGS1
2. MGS4
3. MGS2
4. MGS3
5. MGS5

  • unfinished story
  • way to many repeat missions (and then you have to redue the redue missions on a harder difficulty, seriously.....)
  • have to find the story through cassette tapes verses the traditional codex, i hated this so much.
  • to many side missions mixed into the main story. These should have been separated using your base that you build up not scattered into the actual main story, causing unnecessary story interruptions.
  • Lack of bosses and boss fights, which is arguably one of the best parts about MGS, and background stories for all the bosses ( MGS1-4 all had lots of bosses with super good stories attached to them. MGS5 had little to none.)

The spawn from hell... i mean MGS5, ugh......

Re: Talking Point: Xbox Series S Owners, Are You Happy You Skipped Series X?

Ashadelo

Last generation I really disliked the idea of everything going digital. But late last year I decided to sell off my xbox one s with all its games and just get a series s. The main reason for this was because I live in China (now Malaysia) and when I travel or need to move for work its so much easier if all my games are digital. So decided to order a series S. When it came I instantly fell in love with it. It's so small and easier to move around, does not take up a lot of space (which is a big issue on the. side. of the world. I live in. No idea if I will ever get an X but as of right now,, the S with two controllers is enough for me.

Re: Talking Point: Xbox Series S Owners, How's Your Storage Looking In 2022?

Ashadelo

My gaming time is limited every week so what I do is have a few games at a time installed on my S that I am playing. When I am done with the game I delete it and move on. The only games that I keep active on my xbox is diablo 2 and Mortal Kombat 11, the rest are all up for potential deletion.

Also, my internet is not capped so I have unlimited GB every month (granted its not that fast as I live in China) so downloading, deleting and redownloading games is not an issue
