I'm betting that Microsoft's line about the "biggest technological leap ever" for the Xbox is a lie. They said that windows 10 would be the last version of windows ever and somehow we ended up with windows 11.
The only way Microsoft's line about the "biggest technological leap ever" will come true is if they partner up with Sony or Nintendo and create a console that has full backwards compatibility with games all the way back to the GameCube and PS1. Having backwards compatibility with cartridge based systems would be a bit too much or would be a new console of its own.
its to soon for the PS6 or a successor to the xbox series S|X it might even be too soon for a mid-generation refresh for the PS5 unless they make it backwards compatible with PS1, PS2, and PS3 games.
Microsoft and Sony should work on utilizing the resources in their gaming consoles instead of releasing mid-generation refreshes or just starting a whole new generation of consoles.
neither of their consoles utilize their resources as much as they should. due to how powerful the xbox one X is, it could have lasted a few more good years. The GameCube could have done the same thing if it weren't undersold and Nintendo actually decided to make use of all of its features.
at one point i remember Microsoft saying about how their next gaming system will mark the biggest jump in hardware capability we've ever seen from one console generation to the next.
the only way that will happen is if they decided to parter up with Nintendo on their next console and released the Nintendo xbox that is backwards compatible with Nintendo games all the way back to the GameCube while keeping their Xbox compatibility ratings in place.
of course if that happened they would end up dropping out of the hardware business with the exception of their partnership with Nintendo and just become a software publisher.
its either that or have two versions of their next console generation; the xbox 5 pro and the xbox 5 light. the light version would be a steaming device that requires a xbox gamepass subscription in order to take full advantage of. and the only way that the pro version would sell is if it had a built-in router.
if the cost of a gaming system goes up every generation than they minus well just add a major (useful) feature to it. having an xbox with a built-in router would give me and possibly others one less device to worry about. and Microsoft making partnerships with other companies may just be good for them.
they already lost to Nintendo and soon Sony may end up winning the console wars unless they surrender now or try making more friends that can stop them from making another mistake.
i got a notification from Microsoft saying that the servers are back up. finally...
now, microsoft just needs to release an update for the xbox that makes it so that you do not need a microsoft account to use non-microsoft apps.. also, they need to phase out the old xbox live services which means that they will have to release updates for the older xbox 360 games. (possibly all of them)
this issue sucks. because i can't login to my microsoft account on my xbox it seems as though i cannot use or play any of the games on my console...
i find it very odd and annoying that logging into your microsoft account is needed on your system. since when is logging into your microsoft account needed to use and play non-microsoft games and apps.
and whats even more annoying is that it seems that i need to login to my microsoft account in order to use hulu, netflix, and other media streaming apps. they have their own subscription service system so why is it that microsoft is requiring theirs?
i contacted them and they really couldn't tell me why the system was down other than that they are performing maintenance on the server that is causing world wide outages.
i would use the console in offline mode but, i'm trying to use games and apps that require online access. i demand compensation even if am able to log into my Microsoft account after this comment gets posted. for all i know they will fix the issue for me so that i will stop complaining.
finally, an easy way to fix the controller that came with my xbox series X.... i was getting tired of using my spare controller.
now for Nintendo to release a calibration tool for their wireless controllers. it might fix the joy-con drift issue that i keep hearing about. its odd that Nintendo released a calibration tool for the Wii-Remotes but not the joy-cons.
a controller calibration utility should have been included with the console since day one..... (or earlier)
its nice to know details about the newest DLC for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. however, can they fix some issues that i have with the game when playing it on the xbox series X.
one of the first issues that needs to be fixed isn in the DLC 23rd World Tournament. for some reason at times a few of the battles start out of bounds. sometimes, it makes for an interesting fight and sometimes just makes it so your character just gets stuck under the ring.
recently i started having an issue with the DLC of where is starts off with you playing as the wrong Goku. shouldn't the DLC start off with you playing as kid Goku and not the Goku that is registering to participate in the tournament.
another issue they need to fix is when time traveling. for some reason the game doesn't always load properly when returning to the present after replaying one of the stories.
i don't think it should be possible for Goku to be rising on a cloud while in his home. when that happens, he cannot interact with her. that issue has gotten me stuck in other areas as well. at least the door at Goku's house was loaded into memory otherwise he might not have been able to get out.
also at times, certain cut-scenes do not load which makes me have to reload the game. when certain cutscenes do not load or do not load properly, it makes it impossible to progress through the story. (the character that you need to interact with and whatnot).
just imagine exploring the land of the Kais as Goku when you are supposed to be playing as Gohan. the characters are there as they should be waiting to pull out the Z sword, unfortunately they are just frozen in time waiting for the cutscene to load.
after these issues are fixed i hope they add another DLC. one that allows you to play the Guko black storyline.
Microsoft needs to keep the disc drive based consoles around even if it only for backwards compatibility for older games as well as DVD playback...
for all we know microsoft will copy sony and make it so that thee next generation of XBOX consoles will have an external DVD drive instead of an internal one.
i already have a few USB drives, it would be nice if microsoft would allow us to use them with our XBOX consoles.
the only way that Microsoft will be able to get rid of disc based consoles is if they give us a way of converting our disc based games and movies over into a digital format. and it will take decades for Microsoft to do something like that even if the service is free.
i noticed that some XBOX and PlayStation consoles have the option of copying the game from the DVD onto the console, but unfortunately it seems as though the disc still needs to be in the drive. that small issue needs to be fixed.
interesting, very interesting. i think i might get one.
however, can i disable the feature for putting the xbox logo on my toast? so far, not having the option to disable that could be its only flaw.
now we just need a toaster oven or a microwave that looks like the xbox series X. having a toaster that looks like a nintendo switch would be nice as well. we can go from the console wars to the toast wars...lol
they should have released an external DVD drive for the XBOX series S already.
or better yet since the XBOX runs on Windows operating system; they can add support for external USB DVD drives to both the XBOX series S and the XBOX series X.
Since both of the consoles are already running Windows, it should be as easy as adding driver support for USB DVD drives.
besides, it shouldn't be that hard since most DVD drives use a generic set of drivers. i only have one USB DVD drive that requires special drivers and those drivers allow for the use of the lightscribe DVD functionality.
unfortunately HP has not made updates to the lightscribe DVD drivers or software in years so that feature can no longer be used unless you want to go back to Windows 7
Microsoft should at least give the xbox compatibility with an external dvd drive if there isn't an internal one. i use the damn dvd to watch movies and tv shows; not everything has to be streamed over the internet.
at least all of my xbox games are all digital copies. so i don't have to worry about not being to play any of my games.
i don't agree with their user agreement policy for the ban system so I'm just not going to use the service. i never play online games as it is, so its not going to help or hurt me.
i stopped using YouTube for a long time because of a similar issue. i work at Walmart and some customer starting taking a video of himself and his friends harassing people; i reported the video and YouTube never took it down. in fact customer support replied to me reporting the video and told me to get over it.
at least i got the customer banned from the store with help from a co-worker or two. in the video that the guy posted; but that was the decision of one of the managers.
thankfully YouTube (and other companies) have different user agreement policies for their different products and services.
i actually looked into things so that i could successfully sue YouTube (and win). unfortunately, i didn't find enough stuff to win against them in a lawsuit. and what's worse is that other users have posted videos that are a lot worse.
unlike YouTube, at least Microsoft is following up with their user agreement policy unlike some companies. and yes, i agree someone being banned from say "damn" is a bit (too) much.I'm an optimist, so I'm sure that Microsoft will fix the issues with the strikes in their ban system. (or create a new policy)
if they are going to release a xbox series X without a DVD drive then Microsoft should make the console compatible with USB DVD drives. some of us still have movies and TV shows on DVD.
if sony and Microsoft don't want to a DVD drive in their consoles, then they need to provide support for USB DVD drives. its not really worth getting a standalone DVD drive these days.
they don't have to provide or sell a USB DVD drive for the console; the console just has to work with it. the xbox is already running windows so all they need to do is add the proper drivers to the xbox and everything should be good.
most people have consoles that already have a internal DVD drive. some companies are (unfortunately) trying to get rid of physical media.
laptops don't even have DVD drives anymore. one day my only option to play DVDs is to have a USB DVD drive for my laptop and connect my laptop to the TV via HDMI.
its nice that they added this feature even though it might come annoying for the input to go to the Xbox every time the controller button is pressed.
because of this i might keep the feature disabled unless Microsoft updates the feature so that the Xbox can switch over to other HDMI inputs (via the Xbox system menu that pops up when you push the Xbox button on the controller).
this update to the Xbox Series S|X makes me want Microsoft to issue an update for the Xbox One. it would be nice for the HDMI (to TV) port to be updated so that it can be used as a proper pass-through port. it would be nice for it to be usable when the Xbox is off or at least in power saving mode. at least the USB ports remain active for when the Xbox is off.
also the HDMI-CEC settings need to be updated on the Xbox one. the settings are present on the Xbox Series S|X but not on the Xbox One. yet, the Xbox One seems to have remote control pairing while the Xbox Series S|X doesn't. these issues need to be fixed...now!
for me the XBOX live Gold is only needed to play XBOX 360 games from XBLA. it won't allow me to play those games unless i'm signed into the service. they should just phase out XBOX live altogether so we won't have to deal with that issue anymore.
even though i only have two games that require logging into XBOX live, it was a huge issue when i couldn't log into the service on my XBOX Series X. because the system couldn't login to the service i wasn't allowed to play the game.
if i purchased a game, i shouldn't have to log into a service in order to play it. if the game is part of a subscription service than the logon issue would be forgiven, but XBLA games are for purchase unless you want to play the ones that are free through XBOX game pass.....
if they make this a real lego set than i want a version that can actually play games even if it only plays first generation xbox games. (it may never happen.)
we could never get a Lego xbox running at 12 Tflops. however, it might be possible to get a Lego N64, Lego SNES, or even a Lego NES up and running.
I like Inel processors over AMD processors, but that is from personal experience. i have only had one laptop with an AMD processors and it was my last; the primary reason was that the computer crashed way to often and i had to return the unit. of course then, weeks later AMD (and HP) issued a recall on the issue and made a public apology to the users effected.
Microsoft will probably have this issue fixed for Nintendo within a week or two.
its that or Microsoft will try to make a deal with Nintendo to bring some select Super Mario games to the xbox series X|S
or Microsoft might try to make a deal with Nintendo so that a Nintendo edition of the xbox series X|S but we all know the likely hood of that partnership being put in place. just imagine being able to play Wii, Wii U, GameCube games, as well as Nintendo Switch games on an xbox system.
1) allow the xbox one and xbox series S|X to stay online while the system update is downloading. i don't mind having frequent system updates but i dislike the fact that the system takes you offline for if you decide to decline the update.
blocking access to the xbox online services is one thing but Microsoft shouldn't block the internet on the console altogether. the xbox has media streaming options. don't block the usage of them just because we don't want to install a system update.
2) allow us to use the HDMI pass-through without having to turn on the console first. i don't want to waste unneeded energy/power. besides, i am only using the HDMI pass-through for another video game system. just make an option so that you can map a button on the controller so that it starts up the HDMI pass-through services. if the xbox button turns on the system; then one of the other buttons can have an action associated with them for when the system is off or in standby mode.
3) update the HDMI pass-through port so that it is region free. right now it seems to only accepts NTSC video input, but not PAL video input. i have a few video games systems in which use composite and component video so a HDMI adapter is needed. my TV does the region translation automatically (via HDMI) so the xbox should do so as well.
4) the system settings app needs to be updated so that it is better organized or at least have a way to search through the settings so the desired setting can be found faster.
i don't mind that much about this since i do not use muscle memory to go through the menus like many gamers do. however, it would be nice if we could go back to the older Menu or at least have the option to do so. The menu wasn't broken so why did Microsoft "try" to fix it? and what is the reason for this change?
not a fan of the game, but Spongebob needs to return to his pineapple under the sea. he just doesn't belong in the NFL. i might allow him in a game of pac-man, but only to be eaten. if he appears in Super Smash brothers than he might get killed and as funny as it might be, i don't think we want a dead sponge on the battle field.
its too early for a mid gen refresh; unless Microsoft somehow decides to partner up with Nintendo and to make a version of the xbox that can play GameCube, Wii, and Wii U games.
