Re: Call Of Duty Will Be 'Restricted' On Xbox Game Pass, Confirms Microsoft

I found this summary of Microsoft's response to the CMA to be very helpful. The MSFT lawyers are tearing CMA apart!

What I find most convincing is the argument that Nintendo is able to be competitive without COD - and that's assuming Xbox would even take COD from PS, but it has no intent to! It is baseless to say the purchase of ABK will hamper competition.

@species8472 Nostalgia is powerful. It's hard for us to prefer anything that comes later. It never itches that scratch in the same way.

But, honestly, FH4 and 5 have some massive QOL improvements over 3. I still play 3, 4, and 5 regularly - 4 the most, only because it has more content than 5. I look forward to PG continuing to add content to 5, but it will be hard to dethrone FH4 - it has all the QOL improvements over 3, and the content over 5.

@themightyant Phil only gets a bad rap because people twist his words to mean whatever they want to.

Yes, there will be less exclusivity in the future. Lots of Sony games are going to PC, for example. And yes, MSFT made a generous offer to keep COD on PS - they’re not running a charity. And yes, he doesn’t want to take games away from gamers, hence a huge investment in backwards compatibly with boosts plus a very low bar to entry - you can stream games on your phone, something everyone has.

He hasn’t been hypocritical. He’s doing exactly what he’s said. He’s running a business.
