@Sol4ris the only benefit I can see would be that we may see new studios be formed by the large amounts of lay off's. I could see Microsoft & Sony even lending a hand also.

@MrMagic now that Microsoft own ABK. There talking about opening a mobile game store so I'm sure there 2027 threat has changed.

@MrMagic aye prices across the board went up. I'm sure there was a report from a marketing company that said that Games Pass is roughly 33 million & that's without the now Games Pass Core numbers. As for Xbox gamers buying less games. It can be debated after the Insomniac leak if that is now a myth considering its not Xbox but PlayStation that's struggling with users not buying games.

@MrMagic no significant growth 😅😅😅. Xbox's last quarter earnings report. Xbox content and services revenue, which includes Xbox Game Pass, is up by 13%. Gaming revenue is also up 9%

@Mephisto2869 people responding to an article ain't begging. People petitioning is begging 😂😂😂 remember when PS fanboys did that to get Starfield a PlayStation exclusive.

@rizangle not denying in time that high speed will be available everywhere relatively cheap but until then I can't see Microsoft getting rid of hardware.

@GamingFan4Lyf I know you didn't mention cloud. But sounds like you didn't get my point either. Its one reason why Microsoft won't ditch Xbox hardware. As for people like me its the only option to get what I already pay for. I'm sure I'm not alone.

@GamingFan4Lyf I agree Games Pass is key but until ultra fast broadband becomes readily available as I can't play on cloud as my Internet is awful so Xbox hardware is my place to be for many years to come.

It also makes no sense for Microsoft to give up Xbox hardware from a business perspective as they'd loose the income from the Xbox store. The idea of going third party on PC, PlayStation & Nintendo is to add to what there already making. If laws change & Xbox could open a games store & have Game Pass on PlayStation & Nintendo then I could see no need for hardware. But until then I can't see it going anywhere soon.

@OldGamer999 I can see Xbox still producing hardware. I'd look at Microsoft's Surface line as a possible future. A select few pieces of hardware which showcases the best of Xbox.

@LX_FENIX no it doesn't. This could be many things to be fair. With the FTC still fighting Microsoft over the deal it's understandable that the CEO would focus on being on Sony & Nintendo.

@Mephisto2869 I guess it depends on what Microsoft brings to the table? As they already stated they want to push hard in Japan. So why not start by throwing money at Square Enix to port both FF7 remakes once exclusivity expires in May.

With all this talk of Microsoft leaving Xbox hardware behind to become third party. There is nothing stopping Microsoft partnering with manufacturers & licensing the Xbox OS to a handful of unique devices. Or Microsoft could create Surface like devices for us xbox fans.

Microsoft has its services on Mobile, Mac & Chromebooks but it hasn't killed Windows or Microsofts Surface PCs. So can't see Xbox hardware being killed off if Microsoft does the same with Xbox services.

I could see Microsoft purchasing Pocket Pair as that's two exclusives in a row from the Japanese studio.

It's the future. Minecraft hitting 300 million sales has opened many eyes. Even Sony is looking to add some of there titles on PC day & date 👍. So with rising costs continuing it will be it's only a matter of time before Sony follows Microsofts lead. Probably not this gen though but maybe next.

@BAMozzy I'm more expecting it to be the Series patch for Fallout 4 to shadow drop.

@J_Mo_Money we should get an announcement of a release date & footage of the Xbox version this weekend at the FF14 Tokyo event. Open beta mid January-February. So I'd expect a late March early April release. Can't wait.

These will consume most of my time in 2024.

@Markatron84 I agree 👍 with word Sony saved them from financial ruin. But you have to add Bungie to the others studios struggling making Gaas games 😕. Even the Sony fan boys have gone silent after gloating that Xbox can't manage there studios for the last few years.

Looks like Sony now can't manage there own studios. Funny how things go full circle.

@DonaldMcRonald unfortunately I can see them going for more as that list helps Microsoft in key areas like the US/EU but does nothing to move the needle in Asia so I expect that's the next push.

@Rmg0731 the bulk of Games Pass users are on PC & mobile in Japan.

I'd be happy with just Final Fantasy 14. But with Octopath Traveler 2 also coming in Spring it is a good start. Like others I hope the new Star Ocean Second Story R & Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters plus other 2022 titles we missed come to Xbox.
But the big rumour being Dragon Quest 10 offline coming to the west 🙂. If it is true & it comes to Xbox hopefully it gets released with the Switch & PS4/5 editions. Then we can expect a bright future.
But it all takes time so I guess we have to be patient. With Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth only being 3 months exclusive to PS5 & a Switch 2 port reported maybe FF7 is coming? If not maybe Ff16 after it's PC release.

Now that Microsoft owns Activision Blizzard it be nice to see Games Pass get Lionheads Studios The Movies. But I'd love to see Black & White get a HD remaster/remake.

@Kaloudz think the only difference I can see happening at Blizz con this year could be Phil Spencer on stage during the event but bar that I'm sure all plans have been finalised before the deal was approved last week.

@Kaloudz if the rumour is true about Blizzards survival game coming next year then we could get a reveal at Blizz con in November or E3 next year. As for Infinity Wards openworld RPG? Maybe a teaser trailer at E3.

@Kaloudz definitely. Look how Bethesda is starting to bear fruit with Hi Fi Rush, Ghostwire Tokyo, Quake 2, Starfield & Redfall. Then you have this year's COD & the vast amount of cash King generates being reinvested into Xbox 🙂 exciting times.

@themightyant I agree 🙂 Even though I stopped playing COD. You can't deny it's success came down to how good the teams at Infinity Ward, Raven plus it's support studios are. so Infinity Ward making an open world RPG is definitely interesting.
If Phil Spencer is serious about COD being every 2-3 years to allow other projects we could be in for some great games.

@StonyKL @Pimpernel Blizzard announced via its recruitment page that it is working on a new IP. A survival game which could release next year. Recently Infinity Ward also put on there LinkedIn page there looking for staff to work on a new IP also. An open world RPG.

@NeoRatt Microsoft created Worlds Edge to be there RTS studio. They could do the same for there kids IPs with Toys For Bob.
I Could easily see Banjo & Conker turn up in a future Skylander, kart racer, kids brawler, gaas game or a remake/remaster of there older titles.

@Exerion76 Sony owns the movie rights to Spiderman. Marvel owns the gaming rights & Sony had to negotiate exclusive rights when they purchased Insomniac just like Microsoft did with Indiana Jones when they purchased Bethesda.

Chip shortages due to lack of materials as a result of wars abroad. Covid didn't help manufacturing & supply chains again pushing up prices. But prices are dropping now though. Microsoft & Sony using SSD this gen definitely pushed the prices of there consoles but slowly prices will drop the more the tech is adopted.

@Kaloudz definitely. I suspect the main reason the GPU & Ram took such a hit is due the cost of the SSD in both Series models. Hopefully that cost should be cheaper by the time the next console releases.
So I suspect if that's the case the lower model would have the same processor like the S does today but will include a similar specced GPU but with lower RAM & SSD.

Could be another blow to Sony as if Disney buys EA they'll want Spiderman & Wolverine back ASAP.

I'd expect that live service Crash Team Rumble game to be the first to join Games Pass.

Square Enix announced a new title Little Goody Two Shoes for the end of October yesterday also for Xbox.

@Kaloudz I can definitely see them doing it again as the Series S has been a hit all round. It's cheap making it the best selling Series console. It's contributed to growth in many poorer regions & also helped in Asia. It has attracted new users to the Xbox platform. I'd suspect Microsoft will take the criticism that devs have provided to them & improve on it.

I ended up buying it. As it was on sale at £9.99. I shall give it a bash after Starfield & the new Dragons Quest game launching this week.

Sega & Palworld dev Pocket Pair seem the logical choices. Square Enix & Platinum Games would be outside bets.
But I'd rather Microsoft strengthen relationships. As Bandai Namco not being represented at the Microsofts TGS 2023 was worrying. Patch up relations with Platinum Games, Mistwaker & get level 5 on board would my preference.

Xbox TGS was good but lacked variety. But lucky support in Japan isn't. I get japanese game info from Gematsu & in the last couple of years you'd rarely see a game in the Xbox section outside of Capcom, Bandai Namco & Sega but now there is announcements regularly . Even in the TGS 2023 section they have a list of publishers attending & most have at least one xbox game at the show which is exciting. Unfortunately there is a few that don't like Level 5 but hopefully that will change in time.

I'm glad it's coming to Xbox. But very surprised we heard nothing about the FF14 beta & the pixel remaster collection. But more Dragon Quest in the future is fantastic starting next week.
