Re: Former Xbox Exec Defends Phil Spencer's Recent Decisions As Head Of Xbox

cragis0001

@Ilyn people didn't think Xbox games like Sea of Thieves would sell well on Playstation because fanboys say Xbox games suck & Rare hasn't made a good game since there Nintendo days. But a 7 year old Xbox One game is selling as well as brand new titles on PS5.
I think it depends on Microsofts future plans. As Playstation games apart from a select few aren't gonna hit Xbox anytime soon. One area that could help is Nvidia's Geforce now integration, there future handheld plan & allowing all games in a users library rather than just Games Pass titles to be played via cloud. If they can get the later to work. It could grow the community enough to make it worthwhile for Sony. As we have already seen expansion to smart TVs, Amazon Firesticks for Games Pass.

@Ilyn but do Playstation have better sales. The bulk of the Playstation 5 sales are made of casuals playing EA Soccer, Fortnite, COD, Minecraft & Roblox. Only Helldivers 2 has been a major hit to be fair this year. But other high hitters like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Gran Blue Fantasy & Stellar Blade have shifted 1-3 million units each. With 60 million+ consoles in the wild. That's not great.
You need to give Sony's franchises more credit. The like of the Last of Us, Horizon, Spiderman Helldivers plus more would sell well on Xbox. Id buy several even though I own them on Playstation 5.

Re: Former Xbox Exec Defends Phil Spencer's Recent Decisions As Head Of Xbox

@PsBoxSwitchOwner Yes Microsoft priority is Games Pass. But Microsoft revenue when it comes to software which includes games has grown each quarter even without ABK. So even though Xbox is a smaller community they spend cash. I like many use the money Games Pass saves me to buy 3rd party games not in the service but also buy season passes & the odd microtransaction for games I play within the service to support the devs.
What audience would Sony cater for? The same that Microsoft are aiming for I guess. People who won't buy a Playstation/Xbox for a handful of titles. Diehards. Casual gamers that will play popular GaaS/ multiplayer titles.
The Last of Us: Factions & Concords failure. Plus add Sea of Thieves success could make Sony aware of how important it is to look after there GaaS successes like Helldivers 2. So who's to say in time we won't see IOS/Android, Xbox & Switch 2 ports.
I can't see the Series S being a problem if there happy to make Switch titles. But also with Microsoft next gen system releasing in 2026.

If you think Sony is gonna sit back & watch Microsoft expand to a multiplatform strategy while still being a platform holder. Think again. They'll be studying there PSN figures, watching for Microsoft's financial reports etc. They'll adapt accordingly or be left behind.
There PC strategy was the first step. They are now pushing day & date. They have mobile, cloud as another. When PS6 comes out. Then what happens when the previous avenue has no growth.

Re: New Info About 'Hi-Fi RUSH' Dev Tango Gameworks Acquisition

cragis0001

@TheSimulator it probably was the goal. Spencer said several times that Tango Gameworks & owning a Japanese studio was a priority. But if the people in the studio don't want to be a part of Microsoft. Then what are they meant to do. As pretty much from when it was announced key players left. Producer of Ghostwire Tokyo who Mikami said could be a potential leader when he steps down. Then left. The only studio that didn't put out a warm statement when Microsoft acquired Bethesda. I'm sure others did as well at the thought of being an Xbox exclusive studio in a land that has less than 1% market share. I heard Xbox fans on Japan are a passionate group. But a small one. Mikami & others even left to form a new studio.

Re: Rumour: Xbox To Announce 'Big' Game For PS5 Next Week

cragis0001

@Jenkinss but my original answer wasn't meant to be comparable to Xbox going fully 3rd party. But Sony's current strategy is similar to Microsoft's during the Xbox One. My point is that the way costs are spiraling out of control it may get to the point that Xbox gets the odd title. Helldivers 2 & Concord come to mind.

Re: Rumour: Xbox To Announce 'Big' Game For PS5 Next Week

cragis0001

@Jenkinss to say that Sony had no say in either matter is laughable. Sony could have said no to MLB & found another purpose for the studio. Sony also could have said no to Bungie & found another studio to acquire.

If you said 5 years ago that Playstation games would be day & date on PC & that the Switch would get a Lego Horizon titles with gorilla games being involved. You'd have said the same "no chance" so anything is possible going forward.

Re: Rumour: Xbox To Announce 'Big' Game For PS5 Next Week

cragis0001

@PsBoxSwitchOwner I said maybe & in the future. As if you said 5 years ago what Sony is doing today you'd be laughed at.
People say it was MLB that stipulated it to go multiplatform because Sony doesn't publish it. Horizon Lego Adventure isn't published by Sony on Switch & we know that Gorilla Games was heavily involved.

Re: FTC Calls Out Xbox's New 'Degraded' Game Pass Tier & Price Increases

cragis0001

The standard teir is Microsofts way of trying to get people to continue subbing when the pastures are lean. I would benefit from Standard as I don't game on PC & my internet is crap in rural Scotland to play on XCloud. So day 1 & the vast amount of titles makes Ultimate for me.
So if like lately all the good 1st party day 1's are at the last few months of the year. I could lower to standard & then upgrade to ultimate when the games I want to play hit the service.
Or if there is a handful of titles keep standard & buy the games I want.
Nothing wrong with more choice. As until Microsoft get to there 1st party title every quarter promise. Standard could be descent alternative to just canceling it outright.

Re: Microsoft Makes Statement On The Xbox Delay For Black Myth: Wukong

cragis0001

@WhiteRabbit take it you haven't read the article on Windows Central then 😂😂😂😂.

If it was so clear 😂😂😂 Then why have you still not answered how you came to the conclusion it is solely the Series S's fault when Games Science mentioned both Xbox Series X/S.

The statement is vague in the sense that it doesn't state what has caused the problem. It identifies the problem that's all 😂😂😂. But you know that. Your just trolling.

You even say it yourself. That games get released broken so we should be happy for the delay. Again that comes down to many factors 😂😂😂.

Re: Microsoft Makes Statement On The Xbox Delay For Black Myth: Wukong

cragis0001

@DarkTron I just re read the article & to be fair Jez thinks it's the Series S as well. He only mentions exclusivity because Microsoft statement brings it up & he heard a rumour while in LA. Most of what he has said has been brought up in this news section to be fair.
If the game was exclusive your correct we'd know about it. But if Sony has made a deal it be for marketing rights.

Re: Microsoft Makes Statement On The Xbox Delay For Black Myth: Wukong

cragis0001

@WhiteRabbit I never said there statement was speculative 😂😂😂😂 All I've said is that it's vague.
I'm not the one that read a statement & automatically assumes it's the Series S with no facts to back it up 😂😂😂.
All I've been arguing is how did you come to the conclusion that the problem is with the Series S.

Re: Microsoft Makes Statement On The Xbox Delay For Black Myth: Wukong

cragis0001

@WhiteRabbit you tell me? as you & many more seem to think that statement means it's the Series S fault. How did you come to that conclusion? Thats my point when I mention speculation.

Like I said before that statement hints of a problem but doesn't explain what's caused it. Which has allowed people to speculate what it is.

Re: Microsoft Makes Statement On The Xbox Delay For Black Myth: Wukong

cragis0001

@WhiteRabbit no it's not. But both Games Science & Microsoft are guilty of being so vague it's allowed both sides to speculate.
You don't even hide the fact that you think it was the Series S to blame. But then your critical of Jez Cordon & Windows Central for jumping on the possibility of timed exclusivity potentially being another reason for the delay. When Sony is natourious for exclusive deals. But it could be a marketing deal that Microsoft was hinting at. But who knows.

Re: Microsoft Makes Statement On The Xbox Delay For Black Myth: Wukong

cragis0001

@WhiteRabbit again Games Science was vague on what was causing the optimisation problem. As it could be budget related? They've bitten off more than they could chew being a small team? Lack of experience in optimising for certain hardware etc as Larian Studios admitted the Series S helped make other versions better. But everyone jumped on the narrative that it must be the Series S.

Which you were one I believe?

So When Microsoft hints of exclusivity as a potential cause?. It's obviously it's gonna attract attention considering how secretive other deals like the length of exclusivity of the Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy will be.

Re: Starfield's June Update Adds Mods On Xbox, Improved Melee Combat & More

cragis0001

@DennisReynolds so if paying full price for Games is the solution to the problems within the industry. Why is Sony putting there 1st party games on PC?. Mostly day & date as well. Why did MLB insist on Sony to make an Xbox version just to put it on Games Pass? & why is Sony allowing Lego Horizon Adventure on the Nintendo Switch rather than the PS4. 😂😂😂.
