@Qphlat27 As soon as Microsoft releases their own cheaper version, they’re going to be accused of anticompetitive behavior and be seen as another corporate behemoth crushing the ‘little guy’ (which they have clearly done in the past). For their own image (and at least the Xbox division has been trying to come off as a kinder, gentler, version of Microsoft), they need to help this company in some way. Maybe use their pull to get parts cheaper or bundle it or something that doesn’t just wipe the company from the public view.
My problem is that I already own all three of those games. For $19.99 I would have bought them again if they had enhancements. I could just take a chance and buy them anyway in hopes that the bundle will get updated eventually... I probably won't though.
@everynowandben The beginning is slow going. Get through the opening scene and the initial return to home base. When you leave the base for the first time is when things start picking up. This is really an open world that benefits from the story. Just keep following the story prompts.
I loved The Witcher, and I definitely bought into most the hype surrounding Cyberpunk. I never thought it would be the greatest game ever, especially as features kept getting cut, but I still really wanted to buy this on day one. The only thing that saved me was that I wanted to wait until there was a Series X version before I bought it. Dodged a bullet, for sure. This will now end up being an impulse buy during the annual Summer or Winter sales XBox always has.
I have a 10TB Xbox Branded Western Digital Black Hard Drive, and the 1TB Expansion Card. So, I use the 10TB for storing all my games, the internal drive for the games that actually require it, and the Expansion card for non-Series X games that I'm actively playing.
@BigP I don't think the people that pay for this kind of thing are people that tend to not have the time to play otherwise. I don't have a lot of free time, and certain games take me months to play but I do eventually make it through. I think this thing is more for the people that do want to play for 100+ hours and they want to get more 'reward' for their buck. They want to be able to walk around powering through everything. I can't see much wrong with that on a first player game. If companies want to exploit over-zealous fans looking for just a little more, than so be it. Especially if it keeps game prices down for everyone else.
@NEStalgia I'm one of those people that think this game is worse than Odyssey. Don't get me wrong, I'm playing it and enjoying it, but I'm just not as involved in its story. The story on Odyssey was so much more engaging, and I definitely liked Cassandra as the main character more than Eivor on this one. Plus, the 'land' on Odyssey was so much nicer. Big beautiful cities, lots of coast line, and just more going on. The combat on this one is definitely better.
I don't think the company needs to go under or the developers need to lose their jobs, but the executives green-lighting these decisions and making the public statements do need to be held accountable. I don't own the game, but only because I was waiting for the actual Series X version of the game. Every game suffers from bugs, so I would have probably bought it anyway. I bought the latest Assassins Creed and then let it sit until the second patch came out. It's not smart and doesn't make sense, but I think a lot of people work that way these days.
@Snake_V5 There was an option to download that Bright Memory game, too, but when you try it just errors out. That's probably going to be the case with this one, too.
@Trainer This new microtransaction is definitely not a required purchase to progress though the game. Having said that, I'd still say Valhalla is more of an "on sale" kind of purchase.
In this case, I don't really see it as predatory. If the game was built so the only way to really progress was to buy this new 'perk', that would be predatory. I've played about 40 hours of the game already and I'm at level 150. I've been hitting side quests lazily, killing random guards as I come across them, collecting things that I happen to find, and kind of just meandering through the world (like people tend to do with open world games). Assassins Creed Origins was the only one with the option that felt like it was a required purchase. This and Odyssey, to me, did not.
This isn't a bad game, but the story, main character, and location just doesn't have anything on Odyssey. Playing on a Series X, and I still find the previous game was much more beautiful and awe-inspiring just because of the locations. This one feels more empty.
@Thejameswhogames I figure the load on the Microsoft servers will be way more than usual for the next few days as thousands of people connect new consoles, potentially create new profiles, and start downloading new games and updates. I would give it some time.
@roe Hellblade and A Plague Tale are both awesome and beautiful games. You can't go wrong with either of them... but they are both just a little different than your average video game. The stories make it worth while, though.
The entire Xbox One life cycle I've had a huge external drive that stored all my games (with Games With Gold, EA Access, Purchased games, and now Game Pass there is a lot) and an SSD that held the ones I was currently playing that way nothing was running from the internal drive but the OS. So, I'm used to moving games from drive to drive and will just keep doing that next gen.
Based on the video, I'll just wait for more options for the internal expansion drive.

@dani3po I'm sold

Re: Video: NieR Replicant Gets A Shot-For-Shot Revamp Of Its Opening Cinematic
I loved NieR Automata, but never got to play any of the older stuff that ties into it. This looks a lot like that game. Definitely day-one buyer.

Re: Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection Slashes Onto Xbox This June
These games were awesome back in the day. It definitely would have been a day one purchase if it had been remastered.
Re: Voice Actor Of FemShep Overjoyed By Mass Effect Legendary Edition Trailer
I expected more from this, but I'll get it anyway. Favorite game series ever.
Re: Battlefield 6 Rumoured To Be A Cross-Gen Reboot, Multiplayer Aiming For 128 Players
@PhhhCough This all the way. They need to release a Bad Company 3.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Buying In The Xbox Countdown Sale 2020?
@Gaming365247 I bought a lot of those same games during the sale. Totally worth it, even with Game Pass.

Where's the Series X goes to a black screen every time it gets turned on for the first time that day fix.

Nudity is something you add through mods when it isn't already available on the game... it's definitely not something you remove

@evan23 So, my Series X download speeds were crap yesterday but they seem to have evened up today.
