Talking Point: Are You Happy With Older AAA Titles Coming To Xbox Game Pass?

Almost six months ago now, Microsoft overhauled its Xbox Game Pass subscription service; bringing in the likes of XGP Premium and bumping the price of its Ultimate tier. While Ultimate's core messaging still revolves around day one games — particularly from Xbox Game Studios — we are starting to see lots of Game Pass updates that bring older AAA titles to both Premium and Ultimate, particularly during the quieter months for new releases. So, are you happy with this recent trend?

Over the last few months, we've seen the likes of Star Wars Outlaws, Resident Evil Village, Death Stranding Director's Cut, Space Marine 2, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and the Kingdom Come Deliverance series all join Xbox Game Pass - and only the Ubisoft titles here are exclusive to Ultimate. We've also got Cyberpunk 2077 joining next week; another one that's landing for both Premium and Ultimate members.

To be honest, this just makes us even more confident in suggesting that XGP Premium might be the best-value tier these days. We know that day one games are absent on Premium, but when you see a lack of major AAA day one launches arriving from month-to-month, it does put Ultimate's value into question a little bit. Maybe it's best to just subscribe to Ultimate when big games arrive and stick to Premium for the rest of the year? Of course, that depends on the year's release schedule, but it is something worth considering nowadays.

Anyway, we just wanted to check in with you all on how you're feeling about Xbox Game Pass Ultimate in 2026. Are the frequent Premium and Ultimate drops making you consider dropping down a tier? Do Xbox's day one releases mean you'll always stick with Ultimate? We're going to ask you folks which tier you're currently subscribed to in the poll down below - and feel free to talk more about your choice in the comments section underneath.
