Re: Poll: How Would You Grade The Xbox Games Showcase 2022?

Peach64

I always judge these things by looking how many new games are in my ‘wish list’ compared to before the show and that is a big fat zero. I knew there wouldn’t be announcements of new stuff as all 23 studios are either working on an announced game or put one out in the last couple of years so it’s too soon to announce the next one.

It’s not just Xbox, but the whole industry is in the same place. Makes me wonder if they should have skipped the show altogether. The E3 style show should be something to sell your console. This was more hey current Xbox owners, we have lots of mediocre games you can play on your GP sub. Starfield was the only thing that would make someone buy a Series X/S here.

Re: Feature: 30 Xbox Series X|S Games To Look Forward To In 2022

Peach64

Wow, I didn't realise how barren 2022 was until reading this. Pretty much just Starfield and Hogwarts Legacy that I'm really excited about, although I have to imagine we're getting Forza Motorsport this year too, but understand it not being on the list as it's not got a 2022 release date for now.

The second half of 2015 was where last gen took off, and 2022 is the same time frame this gen, but not seeing anywhere near the quantity or quality this time around.

Re: Pick One: Which Is Your Favourite Forza Horizon Game So Far?

Peach64

Horizon 4 for me.

I love Horizon 5. I've already played over 125 hours in less than 3 weeks. It will be my most played and most enjoyed game of the year. However, I do think it was a bit of a stop gap release for them. I know it had a year longer than any other Horizon game, but I think ideally they wanted the new Motorsport to be out before it, and to build on everything in that. I think Mexico was picked to let them get away with having large, empty areas, and I think it's the first Horizon where they didn't had any new kinds of events?

Re: Poll: How Would You Grade Xbox & Bethesda's E3 2021 Showcase?

Peach64

I usually judge these things on new announcements, but I know there needs to be vastly lowered expectations this year due to Covid putting everyone behind schedule. Horizon 5 looked amazing of course, but that might have been it for me in terms of new stuff.

Of course it was great to see stuff like Starfield and Flight Sim, but I already had them on my wishlist.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (Jan 16th)

Peach64

Racing games! I got my Series X day 1 (never had an Xbox One), and immediately started playing Horizon 2, and quickly moved on to 3. I'd been waiting years to play the Horizon games, and enjoyed them so much it sucked me into the Motorsport games too, which I was not really bothered about previously.

This weekend I decided to spend the rather large sum on getting a Logitech G923 wheel and a Playseat Challenge. Lots of Forza 7, F1 2019 and Assetto Corsa all thanks to Game Pass. I'll be getting Project Cars 2 when I feel I've exhausted this lot, but can't imagine that will be soon.

Re: Microsoft Flight Simulator Receives A Real-Time Snow Update

Peach64

I started playing this on PC when it released, but I've stopped now as they're doing so many updates, and I'd rather wait for them to do more. I did a round trip of the UK in the first few weeks and found a lot of it quite disappointing, but they've already made huge improvements.

Re: BBC News Anchor Mocks CD Projekt Red Over Cyberpunk 2077 Apology

Peach64

I really can’t tell if she’s someone that doesn’t play games and amused by the ridiculousness of a game maker not bothering with how well their games plays, or maybe someone that plays games and knows all about how disappointing this was. The expression she makes when mentioning refunds actually makes me think it might be the latter.

Re: Microsoft Flight Simulator Lands On Xbox Series X In Summer 2021

Peach64

I played about a bit with it on PC due to Game Pass, but although I can run it on high settings, I don't have 4K displays, so was trying to hold back as much as I could for the console version. It feels a bit like an early access release now, but regular world updates are coming all the time. Should be in a great state by the time we get it on Series X.

Re: UK Retailer Criticised For Expensive Next-Gen Console Pricing

Peach64

I mean it's kind of their business model to sell things for more than they pay for them. If they sold it for RRP, that means they'd have to offer significantly less than RRP to buy them off people, and nobody would be trading it for less than RRP.

Not sure what people honestly expect them to do?

Re: Poll: What Are Your Thoughts On The New Xbox Series Controller So Far?

Peach64

I love it. I always liked the 360 controller, and then never got an Xbox One. I've played mainly on a Dualshock 4 for the last 4 years, and never had an issue with it, but the first time I picked it up after spending a week on Series X I actually said 'ew'. I think it's going from those textured grips to the slippy finish on the DS4.

Re: Everyone's Talking About This Nostalgic Walmart Xbox Series Ad

Peach64

Got to be honest, I'm not really getting the hype around this one. They're really exaggerated the guy aging (only 4 years between Xbox and 360), and they don't really show any games. It's just like here is a brief look at the boxes these consoles came in.

I think the one Playstation did for PS4 is much better at using nostalgia. Please don't take this as system warring as this ad is made by Walmart, it's not a criticism of Xbox or how it lacks nostalgia. I just don't think the ad is great.

Re: Microsoft Reveals Time Spent Testing Each Backwards Compatible Game For Xbox Series X|S

Peach64

I only went through my list of 360 games last week and was surprised at how many of them were not BC on Xbox One/Xbox Series XS. Out of 133 physical games, 49 of them are not BC. I hope they can get back to adding more games to the list this generation.

I'm also very curious which games will have their 'locked framerate' overridden by Microsoft. I really hope Forza Horizon 3 is one of them. I know it's delisted, but so was the original Forza Horizon when it got a One X patch.

Re: Xbox Is Already Thinking About Backwards Compatibility Seven Years From Now

Peach64

I never had an Xbox One, and my 360 died a few years back, so I've been really excited to get my hands on a Series X to play old games. I think MS's approach to BC is fantastic, but I was a bit surprised when I went through my entire 360 library to find out roughly a third of it won't be playable on Series X, and that was a little disappointing. I know some of those games can be re-bought as Xbox One versions, but not all of them. It would be great to see them bringing new 360 and original Xbox games to the BC list.

Re: Talking Point: Have You Been Able To Pre-Order An Xbox Series X|S?

Peach64

Yes, but bit of a struggle. Was online at 7:30am, and saw Game already had a virtual queue with a wait of 8 mins. That's fine. However when 8am rolled around, there's no sign of being able to pre-order. I saw people posting Amazon links, but that gave me a 'problem adding to basket' error. Tried the MS store but got errors when trying to check out there too.

Managed to get one added to my Amazon basket and checked out by 8:15am. At 8:30am I got an order with Game, although it says my delivery option is collect at store (and no store specified) despite me not picking that. Customer support say it was a technical issue and it will definitely be delivered to my home. Now I just need to decide who I trust more to deliver it. It was good how quickly Amazon sold out, suggests that maybe they didn't take more orders than they can fulful.
