Re: Talking Point: How Do You Feel About Xbox Game Pass In 2026?

MonsterMike

My thoughts are that my slow and steady drift away from Xbox after 20 years of being a customer is well underway and I no longer subscribe to game pass. I will buy a singular month of essential for when I'm playing online games with my friends, but will never let it ride like I used to with gp ultimate. Jacking up the cost was the last straw in a long line of moves I did not enjoy from the company.

Re: Xbox Is 'Exploring' AI To Make Its Older Games Playable On Modern Hardware

Xbox is doing some pretty great stuff for accessibility. For instance, one of my buddies at work grabs the old station laptop, connects his controller and plays cod black ops 6 at work on the regular. I can now log in on my phone and play baldurs gate 3 from my own purchased game library and it is essentially a play anywhere title now. This is just a taste of ways you can enjoy your Xbox titles and it's only going to get better. It's really cool and I look forward to more innovation.

Re: Phil Spencer Says Xbox Is Done Trying To Convince PS5 & Switch Players To Move Over

As someone who initially thought this was a rubbish move and expressed my intent to move over to playstation, I've come around and actually don't mind the multi plat release plans. It's the most pro consumer move a major player in gaming has made in a long time and hopefully others follow suit. If playstation was smart and liked money, they'd do the same. There are a handful of Ps titles I'll never own or play, because I'll never buy a playstation, so locking their games in just loses out on free money. In any case, as long as these games they're releasing for $80 on Sony, are included with my game pass sub, I'm still winning, and I just hope Xbox keeps releasing hardware because between my Xbox and my switch, I have more games than I can ever play.

Re: Former PlayStation Exec Says 'The Game Is Changing' As Xbox Goes Multiplatform

MonsterMike

@Kaloudz I guess we will have to wait and see how this plays out. Xbox already has less third party support than Ps, bg3 delayed aka timed exclusivity essentially, wukong, sh2 remake as the first to come to kind that I would play. I fail to see how this strategy will make that any better going forward. Game pass has value, but will it remain as good or as well priced remains to be seen. Barriers going down is great, but as of right now the barriers are only going down for one set of gamers.

@Kaloudz Game pass is banging this year for me. It would need to stay the same price and offer year over year the quality of 2025 for me to even consider sticking around. I would keep my series x to play my library of course, but if I can get gears, elder scrolls, silent hill and other exclusives all in one place next Gen? Yeah, it jusy doesn't make sense not to. Hopefully things start heading thr other way too and Xbox feeds on Sony stuff before the next Gen because I much prefer the Xbox interface and controller, so I'd rather stay green.

Re: Xbox Has 'Right Approach' To Exclusives & PlayStation May Follow, Suggests Ori Dev

MonsterMike

Timed exclusives is the answer for everyone. If Xbox and playstation made all their games timed exclusives, say a year for instance. You'll still be giving your player base the first crack at your first party games when they're new and hot, which will still incentivize hardware sales. But if you're like me who owns a SX and will never own a playstation, you can get some bonus revenue by moving it over after a year and getting some sales from an audience you can't possibly sell to because they don't own your product. Kinda blends the best of both worlds.
