We've got quite a highly-anticipated new FPS releasing on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S today (along with other platforms) in the form of Gallipoli, and the first reviews and Series X|S footage have already begun rolling out for it.

This game is based during the WW1 era and features 25v25 PvP combat, including what's described as "one-shot-one-kill gameplay focused on grounded, objective-based battles". In other words, this is quite an intense game that's also very multiplayer focused, although bots will fill in the gaps if desired / needed.

Gallipoli currently has a "Mixed" review rating on Steam due to some concerns around mechanics, game balance and various other things, but the reviews we've spotted via DualShockers and other websites have been very positive.

Go and have a look at those Steam reviews, and then here are the professional reviews we've spotted so far:

DualShockers (9/10)

"This is the culmination of lessons and experience picked up in the previous three titles that have consistently set the bar not just for World War I shooters but large-scale warfare games as a whole. Gallipoli stands taller than the ancient ruins and towering hills it depicts, and is a strong contestant for best FPS of the year so far."

CGM (9/10)

"Gallipoli is an all-around improvement for the World War I series, bringing sharper visuals and better gameplay to one of the conflict’s least-explored fronts"

CrossWatch (86/100)

"If you are a fan of the WW1 series, you will definitely feel right at home in Gallipoli, and newcomers who want a hardcore experience will definitely like it."

Insert Coins (8/10)

"There is a very narrow space between Hell Let Loose and Call of Duty, and almost nobody occupies it. Too slow and too punishing for the Call of Duty player, too permissive for the ARMA crowd: that is the slot BlackMill's WW1 series has lived in for a decade, and Gallipoli installs its fourth entry there."

Xbox Nation (7.5/10)

"Overall, I really enjoyed WW1 Gallipoli and I think the price tag is totally worth it for this WW1 shooter. I do feel it will appeal to the crowd of more intense and authentic shooters but it will have more appeal to casuals compared to Hell Let Loose and that's due to its more intimate infantry focus and intense meatgrinder levels."

In terms of gameplay on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, the ever-reliable Fuzion Xbox Testing has already showcased Gallipoli running on the two Microsoft consoles. On Xbox Series X, the visuals are looking pretty impressive, but the frame rate bounces around everywhere from the low 40s up to the target of 60FPS. It's a similar issue on Xbox Series S as well, so you'll really want a VRR display to make the most out of this one.

We'll leave you with that footage below, along with some extra details on the game itself. Gallipoli is available right now on the Xbox Store at a price of £19.99 / $23.99, and it also has Xbox Play Anywhere support.
