Not game of the year or the next benchmark in gaming but it’s a solid decent game, having a lot of fun with it and in many years time I think it’ll be remembered as one of the better Xbox series games. Will have a future cult following for sure. I’d give it a strong 8/10 which is awesome 👏🏼

@Baler big time, still go back and play on it from time to time. Those old arcade racers were perfect for 10 min blasts or hour long sessions trying to shave the time down. Most of them only had 3-4 tracks but they’re still remembered fondly for how they played, music was mostly pumping too as the CD medium was new and flashy lol

Old racers like that were so ‘cool’ at the time, that whole period of mid to late 90s gaming was my favourite. The young edgy, experimental and fun late teenage years of gaming. It feels like to me anyways by comparison gamings now just clocking in and out on the old middle age corporate 9-5, wanting to making a profit and focusing on the numbers, micro transactions and season passes instead of the immediate awesome in your face fun.

@Baler One can only hope, back in the day on the original Xbox, Sega and Microsoft were very close and there were lots of sega games out for the OG Xbox 🤞🏻

New forza looks really good, just seems really safe or something, kinda like corporate and sterile. Not hating on it, just after starfield which was quite serious too think I need something different

@Baler if only they would re-release Sega rally 95. That game was epic. Sega were pumping out the hits back then. Xbox needs to buy sega, crack open that back catalogue and make it happen

Can’t wait to play this with my 10yr old daughter, some awesome games at the moment. With this Cowabunga Collection, Shredders Revenge, Street fighter 6 and the upcoming Sonic Superstars we’ll be gaming very well for some time to come. Now I just need to teach her how to play Goldeneye 007…

@Dm9982 Buddy partnership for some stuff would be awesome and way to go. Rare replay and back catalog on Nintendo. Gamepass on switch and NSO and some Nintendo IPs on Xbox etc would be amazing. I was surprised that there wasn’t cross play online with Goldeneye 007, that would have been cool.

@Dm9982 ‘there's so much to be excited about right now, and in the future’ - Totally true, what a year Xbox has already had, starfield has just dropped and Forza is on its way. Party animals, MK1 and Myth force all just dropped and Assassins Creed coming soon. Lots on Game Pass too.

Phil’s doing a great job overall at the moment. Sure he drops the ball sometimes but he’s just one man and gets way too much hate.

And to all the awful comments on Nintendo life, personally I wouldn’t want Microsoft buying Nintendo either, that would be awful. But the hate is terrible. Also think back to the WiiU days, and what a sad state Nintendo was in then … another company buying them at that time and if the switch was a flop isn’t so crazy when looking at it from a certain point of view.

It’s a minor thing to be fair but I always use my repaired controller for certain games and it’s always at the back of my mind. Something I don’t have to think about on my Xbox, but the force feedback on the triggers is really cool when used properly in racing and shooting games.

@FatalBubbles the PS5 controller is pretty awsome, the only issue I found is that after prolonged use the triggers get a little loose and their resistance goes. I was able to buy replacement springs online and fix it but they are really delicate springs inside and something I am mindful of when playing GT7. Hopefully something that’s been since revised and hopefully not a problem with the future Xbox controller

Other than starfield I’ve only played Skyrim (through to the end of main campaign) and fallout 3 (only about 1hr, at the time it wasn’t for me). So for me it’s Starfield, I really love it. Kinda makes me want to go back and give Fallout another try

Was excited then watched the trailer, not great looking …

I’m 10hs in and have just found my way out of a zero g gambling space station infested with pirates I got lost in. So far I’m loving it, great to finally have another really good Xbox exclusive. Not a console fanboy, but Xbox needed a win. Game of the year, maybe and maybe not. Either way it really is an amazing game, lots to do and fun gameplay. In my opinion it’s a hit and I’ll be playing it for some time 👍🏻

It’s good, thank goodness it’s good. Doesn’t need to be amazing (although it probably is) but on first impressions it’s good 😅

@Krysus totally agree, like ad central. Gaming should be about the games not buy buy buy, if there’s something worth buying there’s a guarantee we’ll buy it! Hate the constant links to store etc

I’m 42 and I remember the original prince of Persia really well but I’ve never heard of this before. Looks interesting from a retro point of view. My favourite retro stuff is mid 90s - megadrive, snes and Saturn. Massive sega fan. But love stuff like this too and old micro computer stuff

Of these I’ve played Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Hogwarts Legacy, Dead Space, Street Fighter 6 and re4 all of which loved and think are all mist plays. Street Fighter 6 and re4 Being my favourites.

I really hope this is good. Xbox needs the next big game to be revealed now and the hype train to start moving for that. We need a stream of games to be lined up now

@Zoidpilot4 I know best year of gaming since late 90s I reckon. Just watched the Nintendo Direct, a new 2d Mario on the way too.

This years already been epic already; goldeneye 007, dead space, RE4 remake, Zelda, Hi fi rush, Diablo, street fighter.

Starfield is the next one for me.

@PSme they are lots of good games from the back catalogue like sunset overdrive, killer instinct, gears of war series , halo etc. Game pass is totally worth it, even just for a few months. I have a PS5 too but I love playing on my series s. I prefer the Xbox controller too. Can’t wait for starfield also. Happy gaming

@FatalBubbles thanks mate, I’ll keep that in mind. I’ve watched loads of reviews and might pick it up at some point.

I played through Elden Ring last year and got 75 percent of the trophies. Like Elden Ring, Diablo isn’t my normal sort of game but I can tell it’s a good game and it definitely interests me. I think I would enjoy the game and working through the achievements.

I’m happily playing through street fighter 6 at present, hopefully that should keep me going until Starfield.

If not I might get Diablo or that Immortals of Aveum as I think it looks pretty cool too.

@Tothington91 Lol I know what you mean, I like to get at least 60 percentage of the achievements/trophies before I feel I’ve completed a game. Guess I’m a bit OCD or something. I have to get over 60 in all my Xbox games lol. Suffice to say I’m missing out on Diablo and select certain games off gamepass lol. I slogged through Redfall to get 75 percentage. Each to their own, regardless I think it makes games more fun.

I picked NFS up at Christmas when it was on sale and within about 3 weeks was at 80 of the achievements completed and it was fun too. They’re not bad to do.

I finished Jedi survivor and picked up Street Fighter 6, it’s so good to play online.

With redfall it was disappointing but I still played it and had fun with it for what it was. With starfield it’s much much easier to accept it’s not 60fps, there’s a whole universe of moveable detailed objects you can interact with on many planets and the game will have to remember where exactly you left everything on every world (all those Donkey Kong piles of sandwiches lol). It’s such an ambitious and gorgeous looking game. The lore and narrative is deep and rich and it’s not even out. I’m super excited for it, I hope and pray it will deliver. Even if it’s just good not GOTY nominee I will be happy. They really ramped up my interest after the showcase.

If it gets absolutely destroyed and is a cyberpunk disaster it would kinda take the shine off the nice controller for me personally and be a reminder the games crap. Obviously I really hope it’s not, you’re right the controller is cool looking. The recent showcase got me really excited too and put my mind at rest. Think redfall burned me a bit, I was really excited for that too

Glad it runs well I’ve just finished Jedi Survivor and want a new game.

Not sure if I should get Diablo 4 or Street Fighter 6, I’ve dabbled with both franchises in the past but am undecided about what one to get. Diablo 4 looks great tho

But yea back on topic, none of those float my boat.

@Reptilio although there’s not been any great Xbox exclusives (other than hi fi rush) in general I think it’s been an amazing year for games so far for all systems;
Fire emblem, dead space, hi fi rush, resident evil 4, advance wars, goldeneye 007, Hogwarts legacy, Zelda tears of the kingdom, Jedi survivor, street fighter 6 and Diablo 4 all in the first half.

Then in the second half; Pikmin 4, forza motorsport, Immortals of aveum, assassins creed, the new COD, Alan wake 2, Spider-Man 2, Mortal kombat 1, Tekken 8, Final Fantasy 16.

Those are only the the ones we know about. Hopefully MGS snake eater will make the list and some new ones will be named over the next month.

I personally think this is the best year for gaming since the late 90s.

Kinda tempted for Diablo 4. I’ve only played 3 back on the ps4 when it was released. I really enjoyed it and got most of the trophies but stopped playing after the game was completed and never went back. Diablo 4 looks good but don’t know if it would be overwhelming for me.

@eduscxbox me too, it wasn’t great but it wasn’t as terrible as it’s made out to be either. Broken in places and back in the day what would have been a decent rental, like a 5/10. Play it once and done.

I wouldn’t go through it again but interesting setting and ok to see through to the end. It’s a shame really as it had great potential.

@Meehanuk_1987 totally agree, where are the games and what is the point?.
Makes no sense whatsoever, they need to remember the mega CD and 32X fiasco back in the day… this could seriously undermine consumer confidence in the brand and be more harmful than good.

I’m sure the greedy politicians have been suitably paid off and this will go through soon enough
