Re: Halo's Joe Staten Provides Update Following 343 & Microsoft Layoffs

Leo_ascendent

I feel for anyone who loses their jobs, especially right now, and doubly so when it's the higher ups who are responsible. That said, can't say I'm shocked, 343 has been doing horrible with handling Halo, and may have destroyed a lot in the process of trying to make this work. Hopefully this sent a message, don't rush a game that ain't ready, don't force crunch time on devs, delays are better than... gestures at Halo THIS.

Best of luck to those who were termed, hopefully they land somewhere where the management does t have their head up their 🍑

Re: Talking Point: What's The Most Underrated Xbox Game Of 2022?

Leo_ascendent

I don't pay much attention to release dates, but some gems in general below, with a long ass write-up accompanying. XD

Infernax, def 2022, but the game is just so damn fun. A throwback to old school Castevania style (and art) exploration, acquiring new skills, and exploring new areas. What sets it apart is the morality system built in, and the multiple endings, and has a ton of cheat codes that don’t effect achievements. On gamepass, but I bought it anyway to support the devs.

Haven, a gorgeous game about a world where your significant other is apparently predetermined and enforced with harsh punishment. The draw to this game, other than lushish colors, is the story about fighting for love (yes, cliché), all while exploring the broken planet and enjoying the freedom you have with your SO (again, yes, cliche and sounds corny, but the game is amazing).

Undertale, you've probably heard of it before, reached peak popularity about 7-8 years ago and finally hit Xbox in 2021 after after coming out on everything else in 2018. The story isn't new, it adds a few steps to similar existing plots, but the characters are what make the game great. Undertale also has a morality system which also impacts various plot points, and has multiple endings. Strongly suggest playing through at least twice, each time going for a different ending.... the game rememberswhat you're done in previous playthroughs, some choices have severe consequences. The game also has the best character in gaming, Sans. ;P

Re: Halo Infinite's New Performance Mode Features Some Serious Cutbacks On Xbox Series S

Leo_ascendent

Well yeah, Series S definitely shouldn't be the aim for devs. Maximize performance for the SX, and make cuts to performance for SS. Def don't want games developed for the SS and leave the potential wasted.

I own a SS and SX, my SX is connected to my 4k UHD TV with 120hz, love it. My SS is connected to my 7 year old 1080p.

Either way, I hardly notice, but I'm also not trying to see the difference.

Re: Indie Developer Snubs Xbox As Furi DLC Skips Xbox One Release

Leo_ascendent

They would have been better off dealing with XGP, like most indie devs do. A higher payout unless you KNOW for a fact you can make a ton of sales. And let's be real, how many of us have XGP? Do we really need to add to our backlog? Unless you're AAA, and even then it has to be a good franchise, you're better off on the Pass.
