One of the big talking points coming out of The Game Awards last month was how much the event's final trailer fell flat for viewers. Highguard, from new studio Wildlight Entertainment, is an upcoming free-to-play FPS that (supposedly) hits Xbox in a week - and we want to know if you actually think it's hitting that launch day.

January 26th is the date in question, which means we're exactly seven days away from release at the time of writing. The narrative around Highguard wasn't exactly buzzing coming right off TGA 2025, but it's arguably deteriorated since, with folks now questioning whether it will actually launch next week. The development team hasn't said a single thing about the game since that debut post on December 12th.

Here at Pure Xbox, we must admit that we're a little concerned about Highguard's status a week out from launch, but that's actually through no fault of the game itself. In fact, we think Wildlight's new shooter actually looks pretty fun - but clearly, the core community is tired of hero shooters and hasn't been willing to give this one a chance up to now. We'll have to see what that reception means for the game at large.

Anyway, regardless of your opinion on the game itself, do you actually think Highguard will launch on January 26th? Are the devs sleepwalking into a disaster by not talking about the game in the run up to release? Give us your thoughts on this down in the poll and the comments below, and we'll also share a link to why we think Highguard might just deserve a chance on Xbox next week.
