@Fiendish-Beaver I completely disagree. I think that in terms of quality, there's nothing to complain about. We've had some epic titles this year, and in terms of quantity, practically every month. GPU is now light years ahead of what other services offer, by a margin that's almost scary.
For me, the problem lies in its cost. Until now, it was incredibly good and accessible, but now it's incredibly good only for the few who can afford it.
Gamepass is unmatched as a showcase; it's a win-win for medium or small developers who can't or don't want to run big marketing campaigns and can't stand out among so many releases every month.
For large studios and AAA projects, which already have big IPs and huge marketing campaigns, I think it's much less attractive.
Very useful, cloud saves shared between PC, cloud, and console, with no subscription required, is one of the best things Xbox has to offer.
It would be nice to be able to back up saves or restore previous versions of saves. It could be used to “cheat” in games like Dark Souls, but I think it should be allowed, especially for those games that force you to complete the entire game again to see another ending.
It's very important to me. I've been playing in the Xbox ecosystem for years, I love its achievement system... However, I built a PC with a 5070ti a year ago, and the difference between this PC and any console is huge. It's an infinitely better experience to play on a PC.
That's why I look for games with PlayAnywhere. It's difficult for me to go back to a console because the difference in technology is huge, but I don't want to lose my Xbox profile and Xbox achievements.
The best thing is that it's PlayAnywhere, which also gives you access to the PC version. And this is important to me, because I saw in reviews that the PC version had much better technical specifications than the console version.
It was the last generation of consoles that made me say “wow” when I saw the graphical leap forward. There have been advances in visuals since then, of course, but nothing as groundbreaking as PGR3. Seeing those graphics in 2005 blew your mind.
Gamepass Ultimate is a service that is almost a luxury and not within everyone's reach, but what it offers is still incredible, light years ahead of what Nintendo or Playstation offer with their services.
Not only do I believe they will continue to make hardware, but I also believe it will be far superior to that of the competition.
Another issue will be the price they have to set for it, although seeing what Xbox Ally is, I think they don't really care whether it's expensive or cheap, or whether it sells a lot or a little.
I imagine that in the future all these devices will have 6G and their own Internet connection, but today it is absurd to make a campaign that can be played solo and will always require an Internet connection.
I guess it's like Diablo or other similar games, even if you play alone, part of the code runs on the server, to prevent piracy or simply because of laziness/lack of time on the part of the developers.
The competition no longer seems to be in hardware: the success of Xbox Ally could benefit Valve, and the success of Steam Machine could benefit Xbox. In fact, I believe that if SteamOS achieves a significant market presence in the future, Xbox will launch its store and Gamepass there without hesitation.
I said it the other day, I think PlayStation and Nintendo are the big losers if open consoles like these are successful, their traditional models are going to look really obsolete.
One of the bad things about Steam, or other stores like Android, is that they are full of thousands of junk games, and hundreds of titles are released every day that can't even be called games. I think it's good that they make the process easier, but I believe that some barriers should be maintained to prevent the Xbox Store from becoming a dumping ground xD
I said it the other day, if you're looking for the best handheld console and don't want to spend more than $1,000, the ROG Xbox Ally X is by far the best option.
Hopefully Xbox PC will improve over time and many more games will be released there, which for me is the biggest weakness of this console, at least if what you expect from it is for it to be an Xbox.
While we wait to see what Xbox Magnus is like or how much Steam Machine costs, I think the best thing any gamer can do today is to build a PC from scratch and forget about consoles.
I think that PlayStation and Nintendo are the two big losers here; their current business model seems obsolete.
To a certain extent, I think Xbox's vision is reinforced by the concept of an open hardware ecosystem, validating its commitment. However, I believe that Microsoft should be concerned about Windows, as one of the pillars of its OS is gaming, and it may be under pressure for the first time in a long time.
Honestly, I think these “consoles” will kill traditional consoles.
I think PlayStation will be the most affected in the long term. I wouldn't be surprised if they were forced to release their games on these types of consoles, sacrificing 30% and altering their entire current business model, or even launching their own launcher on PC.
I have no idea what Nintendo can do, maybe ignore it all and stay locked into their own hardware, offering some additional value in terms of playability.
I think this future will greatly benefit Xbox, but I also think it will put a lot of pressure on Windows, which has many weaknesses to address in the face of SteamOS, an increasingly complete console OS.
Who knows what the industry will look like in 5-10 years, but what is clear is that these are very interesting times.
I am increasingly convinced that traditional consoles are going to disappear. I don't think there will ever be a PS7, and I doubt we will see the equivalent of a Switch 4.
I think Xbox, despite all its erratic moves, is right to bet on an open console, with Windows or whatever OS the end user wants to install.
This is probably the way forward for those of us who like local hardware alongside our TVs. Until cloud gaming is capable of replacing it, these open consoles seem to be the future.
@IOI From a purely financial point of view, I think the purchase of Activision has been very lucrative for Microsoft.
Perhaps the problem is precisely that Activision is a money-making monster, giving the impression that it was Activision that bought Xbox, and not the other way around
After a month of use, I am also very happy, although there are some areas that I think could be improved.
The main one is the significant lack of games on Xbox PC. Many games don't make it to Xbox PC, or they do so very late, which is very discouraging, especially if what you expect from this device is for it to be an Xbox.
Another point is the screen. It has great image quality, but an extra inch would have been much better for long gaming sessions.
Otherwise, it's great. I think the ROG Xbox Ally X is by far the best console of its kind that you can buy for under $1,000.
The ergonomics are incredibly good. In this respect, I don't think there's anything better.
The power is surprising for a device of this size. It allows you to play most current games at 1080p 60fps without using any fps generation tricks or resolution rescaling, although with low settings in many cases.
And Windows, with its well-known problems, I think ends up being a good option. I think there's some fanaticism on this point, and although SteamOS is fantastic in some ways, I think Windows is the better option. Even though it needs improvement, I think its complete compatibility with the entire PC catalog is a point that cannot be ignored.
Anyway, I'm very happy with Xbox Ally, although I hope that Xbox PC improves a lot over time, as its catalog currently leaves a lot to be desired. And if they release a new Xbox Ally in the future, the 8-inch screen is mandatory.
I'm still with Ultimate, which is still by far the best subscription in the industry. Unfortunately, it's now practically a luxury product; that fantasy of day-one games is no longer for everyone, and if at any point I'm short on cash, I'll have to cancel.
I suppose that Switch 2 hardware has tight specifications that require very specific ports, and that may require more work, which, depending on the case, they may not be willing to take on.
When I was little, it was very common to ask for a Gameboy, a Nintendo, or a Sega for Christmas.
When I was a teenager, I saw children asking for a Wii, a Xbox, a PlayStation...
Now, I see that what they ask for are smartphones, tablets...
My thinking is more pessimistic; I don't think that this generation is halfway through its life, nor do I think that traditional consoles have more than 5-10 years of existence left.
Before the price increase, it was the best value for money option among consoles. If only Microsoft had been up to the task in terms of marketing and investment, I'm sure it would have sold like hotcakes.
A bundle with GTAVI for $299, promoted properly, would have been a resounding success. Too bad it's never going to happen.
They created a huge map and great gameplay, but it was wasted on a campaign that was “only” remarkable. I wish they had released more single-player content, telling more stories and adventures in that world.
@TheGameThrifter I think GTA may have sold more on consoles because it has been on sale since 2013, but if we look only at recent years, especially because of GTA Online, I think most players are on PC. I don't have any data, but I see a large GTA Online community mainly involved in the PC version.
Perhaps the reason GTAVI isn't coming to PC at launch is that the online multiplayer mode is nowhere near finished, and since GTAOnline has been the lifeblood of this version for years, it doesn't make sense to work on it until the multiplayer is ready.
If it were just about releasing a game around that time, it could be a problem, as I think all games released around that time would inevitably be overshadowed.
However, if they do something for the anniversary, I don't think it will focus exclusively on releasing a game, so I don't think it will be that much of a problem.
In fact, it occurs to me that it could be a candidate date for the launch of Xbox Magnus, and it could even be very beneficial to launch GTAVI on that date, as it would be the best hardware on which to play it.
What surprises me is Obsidian's pace. They release a multitude of games every year, are involved in dozens of IPs, and they all end up being great games.
I think it's by far the most worthwhile purchase Microsoft has ever made.
@GamingGod No, I didn't know that, but I think GTAV has gradually shifted from being a campaign-based game to a multiplayer game over the years (or rather, over the decades xD), a bit like COD. I think GTA is currently more about GTA Online than the GTAV campaign, and I would say that the core of the game is now mainly on PC. I think the same thing will happen with GTAVI, but without having to wait so many years.
@TheGameThrifter It's possible, especially considering that GTAV comes from the X360 xD
But I think that recently most of the GTA online community is on PC, and I believe that GTAVI will eventually have its largest number of users on PC, although I could be wrong.
The campaign was excellent, although it felt like a step back from Halo 3 and Halo Reach. Of course, for me, those were the shooters with the best campaigns I had ever played, so the bar was set very high.
I don't think it matters too much how much it sells, since it's just a PC. Neither Microsoft nor us should care specifically, only Asus as the hardware manufacturer.
In the country where I live, the ROG Xbox Ally X is sold out, but the white one is easy to find in stock. I think that after Christmas it will be easy to buy either one without any problems.
I honestly think that, although this is an improvement, it's not really that important. Shaders are compiled in many games the first time you run them, and it usually takes no more than a few minutes, and it's no longer necessary to do so again in future runs. It's fine if we save ourselves this step, but I don't see it as being as important as some people would have us believe.
Another thing is games that compile shaders while you play, where it will make a big difference, but I can't help thinking that using a cache is a workaround because the programmer didn't do their job properly.
@Fiendish-Beaver Exactly, that's what I meant. English is not my native language, so sometimes I find it a little difficult to express myself xD
I wanted to mention too, that considering how badly they're doing with the console's management, I'm surprised the decline hasn't been greater. They're still selling about 2-3 million Xbox a year, which seems like a leap of faith on the part of a lot of people.
@Balaam_ It is always compared with the same period of the previous year; it is not a constant decrease.
In other words, if all the reports for the same year mention a 30% decrease, this means that the total decrease for the whole year was only 30% in total.
So far, there have only been two years of decline, and the drop is quite small considering how neglected the Xbox Series is :')
It looks great, you can tell that Xbox is starting to get to grips with UE5.
For me, the problem with this game is that it has lost its identity and what it meant to Xbox along the way. Now it's as if EA or Ubisoft announced a new shooter, I'll try it, but it has lost the ability to generate hype in me.

Re: Xbox Says Cloud Gaming Is Up 45% With Game Pass & Console Users In 2025
I'm not surprised. Since last year, the service has improved a lot, especially in terms of image quality and stability.
Even so, there is still a lot of work to be done before cloud gaming can compare to the quality offered by local gaming.

Re: Xbox Series X & Series S Receive Small UK Discounts To Kick Off Black Friday 2025
At least you can buy them. In Spain, Xbox has not been available in any store for months, neither consoles nor games.

It's very important to me. I've been playing in the Xbox ecosystem for years, I love its achievement system... However, I built a PC with a 5070ti a year ago, and the difference between this PC and any console is huge. It's an infinitely better experience to play on a PC.

Re: The ROG Xbox Ally's Dashboard Will Soon Be Available On Standard Windows PCs
In the month that I've been using my Xbox Ally X, it has become very natural to use Windows as an Xbox; it simply functions as a console.
For me, there are two major issues that need to be resolved:
-Parity between Xbox PC and other stores in terms of game releases. Many games are not released or are released much later.
-The ability to run games we already have on Xbox Series, Xbox One, Xbox 360, etc. on Windows.
Once that is achieved (which remains to be seen), there will be no noticeable difference between the Xbox console and Xbox PC.
Re: NACON Is Kicking Off The Xbox Birthday Celebrations With This 360-Inspired Controller

Re: Silent Hill 2 Remake Is Rolling Out Now On Xbox, And It's Discounted By 50% At Launch
The best thing is that it's PlayAnywhere, which also gives you access to the PC version. And this is important to me, because I saw in reviews that the PC version had much better technical specifications than the console version.
Re: Poll: How Would You Grade November's Xbox Partner Preview Event?
Much better than Sony event, but still room for improvement. For me, it's between B and C, leaning more towards C.
