It's been a busy old year for Obsidian, with three major games released by the studio in 2025 alone (Avowed, Grounded 2 and Outer Worlds 2), and the team seem really happy with being able to work on their own IP right now.
Not much has been revealed about what to expect in the future, but speaking on Twitter this week, ex-Obsidian dev Chris Avellone suggested that Avowed 2 is on the cards, but there are no plans for The Outer Worlds 3 at this time.
Here's the tweet that attracted a lot of attention:

Now, this is very much a "grain of salt" situation - Chris hasn't explained where he's got his information from, and he only says it's "apparently" the case in his tweet. He does have major connections to Obsidian though, having played a major role on games like Fallout 2, Fallout: New Vegas and Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2, so there's every chance he still has friends at the company who have provided him with some insider knowledge.
Take this for what you will, but we thought it was interesting enough to share anyway. If true, it seems Avowed has done well enough to spark a sequel, while it's probably too early for a concrete decision on The Outer Worlds 3 anyway.
