In just a few days' time, one of the best games of the Xbox 360 generation will be making a comeback on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S in the form of a free upgrade that's dropping on December 2nd, 2025.
That game is of course Red Dead Redemption, which has been playable on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S for many years now, but only in its original Xbox 360 incarnation. That means it's suffered a few drawbacks including a locked 30FPS frame rate, which will be rectified by the new optimised version for current-gen consoles.
"Players on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S can look forward to a smooth 60 frames per second experience, enhanced image quality, HDR support, and resolutions up to 4K."
So, 15 years since its original release, are you interested in going back and revisiting Red Dead Redemption in its new form on Xbox? I have to admit, I feel a little shafted as an owner of the physical Xbox 360 version, but that's the way things are going these days - all free upgrades seem to be for digital versions now!
We all know the game itself is a classic, and this free upgrade should end up making a lot of Xbox owners very happy when it drops next Tuesday. We'll certainly be taking a look at it for Pure Xbox - you'll get our impressions ASAP.
So, what'll it be? Will you be revisiting Red Dead Redemption next week? Tell us in the poll and comments!
