The game hard crashed my console twice so far. Usually you hear a sound after a crash (as you would turning off the console), but the second crash was the first ever to do it without a sound. After turning the Xbox back on, I had a warning screen about overheating.
They should just add the feature again to make a copy of local files (to USB or PC or external HDD, I don't care). I know why they removed it. But you can surely add some form of hash check to only recognize original files, if hacked saves are a concern.
My save files are the most precious data I have in the world. And not being able to archive them is a major concern to me. If they would a least stay on the console forever, that would be a major step forward.
But instead they are deleted from the system after x-amount of other games have been played. It's just stupid. I - again - know why the did it this way, but it's a step backward from how it was on the 360 and EVERY single gaming system before.
I had this issue with the last Plague Tale. Contacted both the support of Microsoft and the publisher, but got no answer back. Lost hours of play. I suspect it's an issue with quick resume (which is awesome) and the way cloud saves are handled.
Glad this is being dragged out in the open now. They could ignore little old me no problem, but this time they will have to act.
LOL Resident Evil 4? Zelda has always been ridiculously overhyped (even The Wind Waker, 96 on Metacritic for the original... I mean, come on!) and of course a PS5 exclusive has to be on the list (Spider-Man 2), they ALWAYS are.
Never mind, I don't recognize these so called "awards". It's a show that focuses more on commercials and marketing, than actually celebrating the people.
Most of the comments in the reviews section (for Xbox) on my regional marketplace are laughable. In what world is this a one star game? If you prefer a previous version, just go and play that. But this is a comment you hear for EVERY new release in the series, it's getting a bit old and is one of the worst reason for giving a low score.
"The tires sound stupid" - one star "Game looks really bad, go play Gran Turismo instead" - one star "This one track is missing" - one star "If you stop during a race and look at the graphics, everything looks really bad" - one star "After three races, I'm bored out of my mind" - one star
I'm just listening to a podcast from a couple of years ago. And apparently, Microsoft was pushing for a console release of WOW, but Blizzard said no. I'm wondering if the merger was in part because of this, because a game like WOW included in Game Pass would be a major factor in gaining new subscribers, especially if it was on console.
I earned all the achievements on the un-upgraded game just recently. I thought after all this time, the update wouldn't come anymore. But there really isn't any incentive for me to play this version again.
I will play the complete version though, mainly because of the DLC, but more cheevos and enhanced visual also don't hurt.
So people who want to play the game, but can't, got to Metacritic to vote it down and never play the game. People who can play the game, never look at Metacritic, just play it and have (potentially) a great time (I know I do).
You tell me, which group you'd rather belong to...
As much as I like the game, I won't be either buying or playing, unless there are some significant changes. The original and the remaster are perfectly fine to play, even today.
@Lajt I know what you mean, but the S is not holding back the actual game, just because the game has to run on the S. In the past this has been a problem. Like you had to restructure levels to get better FPS (Exhumed for Saturn and Playstation), or you had to section off levels, because they were to big for the console hardware (Deus Ex for PS2 for example, one level on PC is loaded as a whole, but on console only a small section is loaded at a time).
But in this day and age that's not the case anymore. Why do you think the Switch does get so many big games, that were thought to be impossible to run on the hardware (The Witcher 3, No Man's Sky etc.)? Sure, if you develop for the switch exclusively, you HAVE to adhere to the hardware and compromise.
But the Series S is technically many leagues above Switch hardware. If you optimize your game for that platform, you have to make compromises, but mostly on the fidelity side of things, not the scope. And with todays possibilities, it's a LOT easier than back in the day to downgrade the graphics, which you always had to do for multi-platform games.
Also, time and technical capabilities play a big part in this as well. If you have a talented team, that knows how to write good code, you can achieve much more. One example from the past is Pitfall for Atari 2600, which did many clever things not thought possible on that machine. But creative programming is sadly becoming more and more a thing of the past. Todays devs rely too much on the power of the hardware.
No argument that this could be the best version due to FPS boost. But the best game in the series? Hell no.
4 has everything 3 has, but adds elephants as rides! I even liked the second part more, because of the awesome fire physics and the overall more realistic feel. But 5 and 6 are objectively much better games from a gameplay perspective.
Not to mention Primal is probably in the Top Two of the best Far Cry titles (you're fighting mammoths with spears while riding a sabre tiger for gods sake). And Blood Dragon is just pure awesomeness from start to finish.
Two of these are really nice and I would bite. Except, if they are doing this for Redfall, they will be doing it for Starfield. And I'd very much prefer to get a scifi themed one.
@Widey85 This has happened to me twice before. You just have to live with it, as I had to find out. I contacted support many, many times. And all they came up with was, that there was no evidence that I completed the tasks, which I 100% did.
Exactly my thoughts. It's just a minimal step above a clicker/idle-type game and to call that good gameplay or a well designend game is just ridiculous to me. It can be addictive, I give it that. But that's all these types of games have going for them.
And comparing that (let's stay just in the indie/nominees space), to Tunic, which has amazing, brilliant design that comes around maybe every 5-10 years, is absolutely insane.
But maybe that's just a sign of the times. With all those minimal attention span and instant gratification media on the rise (TikTok, Instagram, Clicker/Idle games being massively popular etc.), and honestly, that's a very concerning development.
I've been importing and exporting tables since the very first Pinball FX. Some tables have always been lost during this process, but the old games don't go away. So I'm not too bothered if that happens again.
@Kaloudz To me it is, yeah. I've played through every Far Cry so far and they are all basically the same game the devs iterate on Except for Primal maybe, which I enjoyed tremendously. I which they would do a Primal 2 with the survival and tribe aspects more involved.
Same, I usually try to clear the outposts without being seen. Or at least turn off that figgin alarm before starting to shoot. But for some reason I haven't figured it out in 6 yet. I'm sure it's possible, it just feels like you have to be extra sneaky this time around...
@Kaloudz I only played Watch Dogs 2 a bit and it's an alright game, not good enough that I NEED to play the third part.
As for Far Cry 6, I'm just having fun with the gameplay. It controls better than any Far Cry before due to some smaller accessibility features and it's just plain fun. The only caveat for me is, I haven't found a good way to play stealthy, like you could in previous titles. But maybe I'm just too dumb.
And on the topic of being woke I can't really say anything about that (because I have no idea what that actually means . Most characters are pretty crazy and the story is fine. Not better or worse than then previous games. For me, these only act as a frame anyways and are not the defining parts of this franchise.
I already own everything from that list, which I'm interested in. Some multiple times, on account of them being given away at some point. So this is probably intended for the new user, which is fine.

You answered your own question there. People love nothing more than to buy limited stuff until it's sold out and then inflate the price.

Just great, bought the physical version for PS4 last week. These delayed, will-they-won't-they releases are just dumb.
