@awp69 That first bosses difficulty spike was nutts. I'm sure its the game gatekeeping the player to ensure that they fully grasp the mechanics. Parrying and blocking is absolutely the way to victory and not dodging.
@relaxplease Oh lord the camera on the Zhang Rang fight was really hard work until I changed the settings.
TOP TIP for others stuck on this fight... You can disable the auto target next enemy. Once you kill the current foe the camera unlocks and becomes free until you hit the next target. Very useful in the crowded boss arena. Its in the gameplay options.
There are some really great things releasing this year but Dead Island 2 is my most looked forward to. I've played the original and Riptide far more hours than I want to say. Please dont let me down 🥹
@jrt87 Can confirm really nasty stutters on series X. I'm using VRR on LG CX and it doesn't help at all. They aren't frequent but when they happen they are big...they can happen in just a small boss arena too, really janky considering it's timing based game 😮💨
@SAH77777 It really annoying when we're dealing with such large sizes. Before downloading the whole thing again I thought I'd check around and see if it fixes much. Turns out lots of people have had their save trashed by the update. With that in mind I decided not to bother and just deleted it, I'll check back in 6 months maybe.
Just lately it's like all Devs are hell bent on sabotaging their own releases at lunch. It's the most critical time to not mess up and yet time and time again they are releasing garbage and expecting people to ok with it. Lol... sigh, rant over. 😮💨
@Kaloudz I absolutely think they uploaded the wrong version. Obviously it isn't as simple as the windows version as it simply wouldn't work.
I do believe they've uploaded maybe an early non final build. You don't drop a patch that is the full size of the game on day 2 and then go radio silent on what is in it... unless it was something embarrassing like admitting they made boo boo and they had to get everyone to fully download the game again.
It has happened before a few times, one I specifically remember was Dead Island on steam. They admitted it almost right away and made a statement and apologised
Played a couple of hours and I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised by how great it is. I remember it only get a lukewarm response when it first came out but it's an absolute blast to play. Highly recommended trying it.
Excellent news on a sneak peak and good news they are testing properly before the release. Ive been really looking forward to playing this, It looks gorgeous.
VR is awesome for an hour or so and then it's just a chore...it becomes really tiresome and each session ends up being shorter and shorter until eventually you realise you aren't ever using it.
It's a neat idea but standard TV gaming is where it's at for me. I'd much rather the effort that would be spent a decent VR experience be spent on polish and normal features everyone can benefit from.
Not a potter fan myself but for those that are it looks like you're getting a really polished game. Usually franchise tie-ins are quick janky cash grabs. With luck this does well and sets the bar for developers as to what fans of movies and books expect from games.
While not good...I'll take a delay any day over a busted mess thrown out the door release. A good polished game will last for years. A broken mess will get ditched and forgotten after a few weeks.
Can't wait to see Motorsport. Really hope they show us a race and what the AI is like. My only gripe with previous entries is that the AI loves to play bumper cars, Id love to see some clean close racing.
Yikes this just sounds like a... get ready for disappointment 😥
Edit : Everyone here seems like we are expecting more than the original 4 games. I'm happy if thats all they show.
However what I'm reading into the statement is... "dont expect any specific release dates and certainly not any time soon releases for the four games on show"
@CraigDigsTrains Aha that explains why it looked so janky when I tied it earlier. It was either 4k 30fps or 1080p 60fps both had aweful LOD pop in and very low resolution textures.
It seemed like a massive downgrade having played Borderlands 3 on SeriesX at 4k 60fps or 1080p 120fps.
Picked up MH Icebourne over Christmas break and have played it tons. I find it in equal measure both very satisfying and frustrating but I keep coming back for more. Looking forward to seeing the gameplay changes in Rise.
@Would_you_kindly I hate to sound like a downer on new announcemts, heck 2023 need and by all accounts looks to be very potent year for Xbox. With that said...
I find it very strange that many companies seem to hand out their IPs like candy with no regard to how it is relevant to current fans.
I mean if you are a fan you are usually left scratching your head trying to make a connection as to why they are making something very different. Whats more if you aren't fan of an existing series, tagging on a franchises name that means nothing to you isn't going to make the product any more appealing :-S
Well I know for sure nothing screams more of the Gears franchise than the non-stop frantic action of gibbing locusts with chainsaws and chunking them big beefy guns than a card game right...err right?
I can't think of anything that makes less sense than maybe an East Enders based first person survival horror battle royale game, with playable characters such as Dirty Den and Ethel with her trusty pet Willy.
This changes my perception of the game entirely. I was already looking forward to it but now I'm really pumped for it.
I was always under the impression that it was linear levels that you have to make it through like l4d, back 4 blood or the vermintide games...it never once occurred to me it was open world. Akane have some serious chops when it comes to creating worlds so with luck we'll get an open world that's actually worth exploring and filled with gameplay.
The blend of fc2 and stalker mashed with Arkanes awesome level design is hopefully going to make this game incredible. Fingers crossed 🤞
Gamepass has a ton of complaints this year but personally I've really enjoyed some of the more off beat smaller titles. They include a ton that I normally would never look at if i had to fork out for them individually.
Sometimes is nice to try games that don't feature in usual media coverage. Often the regular websites end up being an echo chamber with them all talking about the same 10 big releases.
@Jark Still really nice to get the artbook and the 90 min making of behind the scenes. I rate those kind of extras much more than in game skins, much more inline with say a collectors edition of a film. They feel like proper effort has been made rather than just a some different colours on a character.
@Blue_Rover even if it's free later we'll definitely have our monies worth. I actually ended up grabbing the prime evil edition that includes diablo 3 reaper of souls and the necromancer dlc all for 16 quid or there abouts.
Lol at this point I own diablo 3 on 3 different platforms and probably have over a thousand hours in it 😱
We got some real bottom of the barrel games for sure.
With that said however...
I did want to give a massive shout out to Colt Canyon. It was a really nice surprise for me at least. I've really bee having a blast with it and I'm glad I got it with gold as I'd likely have missed it otherwise.
Not a potter fan but the game looks visually fantastic!
Seeing these massive fantasy vistas really reminded me of Dragons Dogma for some reason...That just makes me think oh man I'd give almost anything to play a next-gen Dragons Dogma 2!
Really happy to see the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order - Deluxe Upgrade. I wish the perks were more like this instead of the free to play stuff.
The nonstop free to play stuff always seems like borderline predatory baiting to me. It's just a way to get you to try it and hopefully continue to plow money into them.
Interesting to hear them say that it looks like how you remember but in when compared the difference is real. I'm really looking forward to some side by sides because honestly it really did just look like when I played it back in 2015 on PC :-S
The game looks visually great i think. The cartoony effects on top of realistic environments and cars works suprisingly well.
What doesnt work for me are the silly game design things they do with the camera. Example, like when a cars enters a drift why does the camera need need to sway to the side and tilt at a weird angle to accentuate it. When boosting why do they feel the need to change the fov to warp speed mode. Landing from a jump... cool lets make the camera bounce up and down like jelly on a plate.
It's all just too distatracting and there is something very dated about it like something from the late 1990 to early 2000's racers. It just takes away from the gameplay in my opinion.
@Cherip-the-Ripper I really hope the screen tearing and stutter is a minor issue and gets patched soon. The game looks great and is right up my alley!
I'll come back a month of so after a patch or two, seems to be par for the course these days. It's rare a game actually comes out without something immediately wrong with it :-S
If you haven't tried Archvale, I highly recommend giving it a whirl. I went in blind not really knowing what it was. I thoroughly enjoyed it and was really surprised by how much fun it was.
Its a small download so it wont take long to grab or take up much space.
Dang I was pumped for this game but having played it for half an hour it has horrible vsync screen tearing. Very odd seeing as I'm using vrr oled panel and no other games tear whatsoever. think I'll wait to see if they patch it as the horizontal scrolling nature of this game is ruined by the tearing for me 😢
@BlackMayge Vampire Survivors is fantastic! Its very simple at first glance but you quickly get addicted to the power trip this game gives you. You start off like a little weak kitten but usually end up being Lord Death of Murder Mountain by the end of a run
It been on PC game pass for a while but it just refused to run for me, I ended up having to buy it on Steam :-S
Great game looking forward to playing it on the couch.

It is superb, been playing it non stop. The quality of life gameplay improvements over MH:World are great. It would be very hard to go back.
Looking forward to seeing the Sun break expansion.

Re: Talking Point: What Would You Like To See From Xbox's 'Developer_Direct' Livestream?
This is going to sound utterly trivial BUT an FOV slider in Motorsport would just about make my head explode with joy.
Having been playing a silly amount of Asseto Corsa Competizione this year and having the correct FOV for my distance and TV size is a game changer.
In comparison FM7 feels like playing a fisheyed super speed sonic game.
Re: Xbox Fans Are Still Hoping For A 'Showcase' Event Later This Month
I really don't think MS is any rush to show anything that isn't released in next few months and has an absolutely concrete street date.
It's almost becoming a meme of nothing now but "soon" only to be followed by a delay announcement that has gotten them so much heat lately.
They better keeping quiet until something is ready to drop imho.
Re: Gears Of War Returns In 2023 With A New Card Game
@ParsnipHero Actually now I think about it I would totally play the heck out of it!

My word those screenshots are abysmal quality, they are compressed to within an inch of their lives.
While the footage is good on the trailer its says its from a "High end PC" so we cant really compare that either.
