Recently bought a legion go on the back of the hype for the Xbox Rog and must say i’m loving it. Getting a lot of value from Gamepass titles i wouldn’t have otherwise played and i will def be upgrading to the Xbox Rog Ally X at some point
I’ll always be Team Green. Not in a fanboy way, i’m just invested in the ecosystem, my friends and my kids play Xbox. I can’t be bothered switching around (just like i’ll always be IOS, it’s too much hassle). That being said i’m very excited for what’s next. I’ll be buying ROGS day one if i can, i love handheld gaming and this on first impression is what i’ve been waiting for…. i’m all in for the announcements and believe it’s the way to go….. and the whole ‘it’s not an xbox’ it’s not a console etc etc is a total misnomer to me….. if i’m using the Xbox ecosystem , i can access some of my games etc i couldn’t care less whether it’s through a windows device or a dedicated console… the games the game no matter how it’s being played. Exciting times
As a kid i was Sega. Jumped into the original PlayStation on release and owned every PlayStation console released including handhelds. I owned a 360 and played it heaps, in fact it eclipsed the PS3 for me, but never picked up a Xbone……by the end of the PS4 cycle , actually long before that i started getting bored, i could never settle into any of the exclusives, i’d buy them but never complete them…. picked up a Switch on release and had loads of fun. This generation I preordered a PS5 and a Series S, i was so impressed by gamepass…. maybe partly cos i’d missed a whole generation that i just never opened the PS5 and ended up selling (at rrp) and i genuinely haven’t missed PlayStation up until now. I love gamepass, it’s changed what i play and how, bought my son an xbox , both my brothers have picked one up and my best mate, it’s great knowing we all have the same games and look forward to the new releases and announcements together. i’ll upgrade to a series X at some point but at the moment i’m happy with the series S and i’m still regularly impressed by what it does. Loving Xbox and everything they are doing.
I’d say that’s a very good looking list and should push xbox to keep improving their own service. I bought a PS5 at launch but ended up selling (at cost) because I was just so enamoured by gamepass, Ive had no real reason to pick one up since but i’ll definitely be keeping an eye out now.
@__jamiie Kids , My son is between his grandparents and home all of the time, takes his Xbox everywhere and it’s a pain in the ass, this is perfect for him, also sometimes he wants to sit with me and my setup whilst we play late, again a pain in the ass moving everything, I can think of a dozen ways this would suit a family life.
I’m absolutely loving it, surprised at the the middling reviews I've seen on some sites. Runs butterly smooth, haven’t come across one glitch, which seems rare these days at release. Loads of variety to how you to tackle each mission, good difficulty, satisfying wins, great with a squad of friends. Can’t honestly fault it. Reminds me so much of the early Rainbow six games.
@Dezzy70 I thought this was an interesting take and was going to throw my ten cents in, then i read all your other comments where you’re just tihs talking xbox and realised you were clearly trolling.
nearly bought Aliens fireteam a number of times but hoped it would come to gamepass, glad i didn’t cos just put about an hour into it and felt pretty underwhelmed.
Also it irks me when i hear the criticism of xbox buying a studio, i play all systems and Playstation have been doing this for years, it was their whole strategy for years.
funny cos i took the meaning of gatekeeping to be around the snobbery of ‘hardcore’ games/gamers and also the physical barriers preventing play, which i think XBOX have made good strides in trying to break down
i’m excited to play, and can’t wait for the MP, but if i’m entirely honest it didn’t look incredible graphically, just looked kind of last gen to me, it doesn’t detract from it as far as i’m concerned but it certainly doesn’t look as polished as some of the current gen i’ve seen.
@SplooshDmg yeah, if that is the case, and that particular challenge refreshes then i’m ok with that, because essentially you can play and still level up without hitting the other challenges. I have no issue with challenges per se, just didn’t want them to be shoe horned in. by way of example, tie challenges to kills etc only really rewards better players, i’ve been playing 40 odd years and i’m still average at best at FPS…. any way, i’m still excited about the game, drumming up interest with my 10 year old for launch and hope to try out the flight this weekend.
@SplooshDmg Not sure tbh, i noticed they list that ‘play a game’ as a daily. be interesting to see if you can complete a daily multiple times, i’d image not if they emulate most other daily/weekly systems. My point being though i really don’t like this model, they’ve really talked a lot about playing the game your way, but a challenge based xp system is anything but , if anything it’s limiting……
Only played Splitgate for the first time a couple of days ago as my son had been playing it. i quite liked it, felt like a solid shooter but for me it had huge Halo vibes which kind of made it feel somewhat …:cheap….(that may not be an accurate way to describe it) . I’ve ended up deleting it as i really want to get into Halo infinite on release and don’t think i’ll have time for another shooter on the go, was really hoping i could get my son into Halo too, to move him beyond fortnite, but suspect i’m on a hiding to nothing.
i personally think the statement has been badly interpreted in this comments section with all the talk of easy modes. it’s quite simple to me that they’re just saying you should support and encourage and maybe not be a douche bag when playing games. doesn’t mention anything about easy mode in all games,or diminishing experiences if you play on easy and someone else gets butt hurt by it. They’re just saying be kind to each other and let people play . The fact that the comments section shows people getting irritated only further highlights their point.
Personally i think the idea is a car crash. You can have all those challenges in there, as fortnite and many other games have illustrated, but to not reward the grind of playing each match, especially for less gifted players really sucks. …. oddly it contradicts their whole messaging too, they’ve been pushing this ‘your spartan your way’ kind of vibe, even down to stating in their reveal earlier this year that you’ll choose your own AI etc….. but this is a bit more ‘Your spartan….but you gotta play it this way ‘ kinda thing going on
i’m suprised by the low critical reviews if i’m honest. i’m absolutely loving it. looks beautiful, SFX and music are absolutely spot on (gives me a Hotline Miami vibe in combat) the gameplay loop has me coming back for more. other than the fiddly menus and the online issues i can’t fault the game itself.

@Bmartin001 it’s the only way to gain XP, there is no XP from just playing a match apparently, which i’m already irritated by.
