Unpopular opinion: the dpad in Series controllers is bad and a downgrade from the One controller.

Maybe everything will be Xbox exclusive expect legacy or retro content re-releases or ports will be released everywhere like the recent Quake 2.

Well, wouldn't be easier and cheaper to get a 360 with HDMI port to play the OG games? Seems like most games are playable via BC.

Cloud Streaming is not available in my region even though you technically pay for it as part of the Ultimate Sub plan.

@SplooshDmg Thanks for the info. From what I gathered in a quick search a lot of games have this issue on PC but ship with precompiled shaders on consoles. Still, it doesn't explain why FF7 Remake performs bad in the Steam Deck where the shaders are automatically downloaded, and the game is verified. RE4 Remake and Village that play well in my laptop and the Deck but they run in the RE Engine.

The most bad recent game on PC could be Atelier Ryza 3. It plays horribly regrdless of settings.

Let's be honest here, if you are a fan of Final Fantasy or Square in general you don't buy an Xbox, or you don't buy only an Xbox. The exclusive BC Xbox versions of the 13 trilogy were an exception.

@Ralizah TBH I tried AAA games in Steam Deck and my laptop for the first time and they seem to be hit or miss as far as performance goes. In FF7 Remake there is some sort of stutter a lot of time but RE4 Remake plays without issues.

Even when Game of Year editions or editions with DLC included get released they don't have the whole content! Final Fantasy 15 and Rise of the Tomb Raider still have content missing from the disk. Other companies sell Game of the Year editions with the extra DLC as a code in the box and not on the disk

I personally don't care that much. Microsoft can pay ActBliz to have Call of Duty as exclusive or troll Sony by releasing an inferior version of the game on PlayStation platforms. In a more serious tone it is not easy for an American company to go buy a Japanese company like Sega. Although if this happens and MS releases consoles with the Sega branding I will run and swim to Japan to get one

I bought a Series S at launch because Microsoft promised that I would play all games in the generation. Cutting the S will alienate the fanbase, if this happens it would be hard for me to invest in another Xbox hardware, not to mention that they may have to pay refunds in some regions. To be honest Resident Evil Village, Horizon Forbidden West (and maybe other upcoming games like RE4 or SF6) perform good on hardware less capable that the S like the PS4 or the Steam Deck...

I would love if Microsoft made a symmetric wireless controller for the Xbox One/Series and Windows 11. I had to order one from 8bitdo.

@themightyant I have tried those steps. Nothing works. Even native PS5 games that are installed in the internal ssd but are not in the home screen do not update unless I start them!

@themightyant Yes I have it enabled and PS5 downloads nothing! It is a relatively common complaint. In Series S at least I have to option to check all games for updates with one click manually. In PS5 I have to do one by one!

@themightyant I have many issues with the PS5 but the bigget is that games that are not in your home screen can update only if you start them and that makes no sense. I don't like the UI it is cluttered and bizarre to navigate.

@Fenbops I bought the S because Microsoft promised that I will play all new games. I don't care that much about resolution etc I just want new gaming experiencs. They cannot drop it, they would have to pay partial refunds and they will allienate their fans.

What about Cloud Gaming? It is still not available in a lot of regions...

@cragis0001 To be fair to Microsoft they probably gave Square Enix a good check to have all FF from 7 to 13-3 in Game Pass but seems they got no traction.

Seems that Sony bought the 7 Remake and 16 but seems that jrpg players are mostly on Playstation and PC

Square Enix seems ... sort of done with Xbox except for some random and cheap to make re-releases like Crisis Core. Some final fantasy games came and went in games pass, Forspoken and FF16 are PS5 exclusives, the Remake of FF7 and Pixel Remaster games are nowhere to be seen.

My only guess is that the games sold poorly and gained no traction when they were in Game Pass.

It is a shame really...

@Nintendo4Sonic I was looking at this controller actually. It is Xbox verified right? So it should work in all Xbox systems and Windows 11? It is asymmetrical but it is closer to what I want...

Now I don't know if this is a somewhat unpopular opinion but I really hate the asymmetrical design. I play a lot of 2d games and it is unpractical. That said I love the grip in the Series controller but the dpad is just bad, I really prefer the One controller due to this.

I love the Aqua Shift design. Even the simple blue controller has a color that I lie a lot!

@Banjo- In PSP it is possible to redownload anything but you have to SCROLL! There is no way to search what you want, they are sorted by purchase time and it even shows PS3 content in the list. It works but it is painful.

In the Wii I also think you can redownload but I have moved my content via system transfewr to the Wii U and I am not so sure.

By the way it seems that there are some Xbox 360 BC games that are not available in all regions like Final Fight.

Some of them are not available in my region. From the ones I have I highly recommend Daytona USA!

To be fair Goldeneye felt dated even back then with the slow motion gameplay. Still it is cool to have it as far as gaming preservation goes.

As far as I understand the game will be free if you have the Rare Replay game?

@stvevan A guess is that the new Final Fantasy games and lots of popular games like Trails will be on PS5. This is one of the main reasons I got my PS5 too.

To be honest I don't really care how we learn of games, as far as we have new cool games though.

The poll doesn't have the option "I don't care anymore". Seriously, after what nonsense stuff Sony has done and all the articles we have read it all feels like a waste of time and I am so bored of this stuff that steals time from reviews and game announcements. To be honest I would much prefer if the sites stopped covering it.

Now, to be fair I am not a fan of games from this company so I may be in the minority. Weren't we supposed to boycott Activision anyway due to some scandal? Also, how can the EU or the UK stop a USA company from buying a USA company?

To be fair I know a lot of people, me included, that simply do not care for Nintendo IP's or do not care anymore. I mean I still play my game boy but the only recent Nintendo games I have are Link's Awakening remake and Pokemon Shield... And since all jrpg end up in Steam or PS4 anyway makes the Switch a bit redundant.

@Dr_Luigi To be fair I don't Valve will ever allow official Game Pass app or any other Store app in the Steam Deck. The community could create something though. Apparently there is a gog and epic store unofficial app but I have no games to test it.

In any case, generally I really love my Steam Deck. It can play a huge proportion of the Steam catalogue and it is an emulation powerhouse.

What I would love is a way to play Game Pass games in my Steam Deck. Microsoft has the how to in their site but Cloud is not available in my country, even I technically pay for it with Game Pass Ultimate.

Just finished the Rose dlc. Without spoiling anything I really recommend it!

@PhileasFragg In all seriousness nobody that has sideloaded apps in the Xbox one or Series consoles has ever been banned. Since there is no way to pirate in Xbox Microsoft simply doesn't care. In all fairness what they wanted to do with me worked. I have bought tons or retro games from their store, I am an active Game Pass and 365 subscriber, they don't care if I play some roms, especially for games that they do not sell.

I would joke that Microsoft does what Sony don't but the rhyme does not work!

@Kaloudz To be honest I don't know if there are some terms you violate by installing emulators. I am sure not banned though.

You do not need developer mode to run the emulators if you know where to look. You can install them in retail mode as an app from the windows store.

I personally have not tried PS2 but I have tried all Sega consoles, PS1 and PSP and all worked great.

I recently beat SH2 and 3 via BC in Series S. The games still hold extremely well.

Really looking forward to this game.

I always complete shut down my consoles. I hate that this option is hidden in the settings somewhere and there is no why to set this as default.

I don't really care about this sort of "console war" due to the call of duty stuff and it will not going to happen but it would be sort of fun to see the aftermath if MS lowered the prices of its series consoles just to troll Sony.

In a more serious tone due to what he says it seems that they won't raise the prices of games or of game pass also.

@Banjo- I have a Wii U although I only have Virtual Console games and some occasional Wii U digital game. The Wii U is great for playing Wii games on an HD TV. So, it turns out i have played Project Zero 2 and in fact already beaten it! I have a lot of very old saves and I have forgotten everything from the game. I may play the games in order.

@Banjo- So I checked and I actually have the PAL Wii version of PZ2!! I may start from it or sell it, lol it seems to go for ~100 euros.

More seriously if the games are not that long I may emulate the PS2 version but since the ports sold well, we may see them too. So, I may emulate the first or play the second in my Wii or get the digital version of the fifth.

I always thought Silent Hill 2 as a perfect example of survival horror with the multiple difficulties, the atmosphere, the multiple endings. I don't understand why this formula was dropped. I recently palyed the game via BC in Series S and it holds up.

Outlast was the game I had in mind. You have at the start a camera instead of a gun and you can only hide and waiiiit hidden... The two recent Resident Evil games are what I would call modern survival horror

Is this series any good? Blind stuff with a camera seems kind of ... boring? Not as boring as some other modern survival games were you can only hide and wait for the enemy while holding a controller staring at the screen...
