Re: Xbox Will Be 'Honest & Transparent' About Platforms In Future Showcases, Says Phil Spencer

Weebleman

@fatpunkslim I’m not defending anyone bud, you said…

‘ Well, it's a practice that everyone did, but not at the same level as PlayStation, which has always played a lot on ambiguity.’

And I was just curious how you landed at that when they both do exactly the same. I’m not fussed what the games on as I have them both, so it literally holds no bearing to me as I can play any game I want regardless of the box that runs it. I was just trying to understand your logic is all.

Edit: you also mention marketing for COD. Didn’t Xbox have the previous marketing agreement prior to Sony. Xbox also had timed exclusivity for dlc maps. Again, they both do the exact same thing.

Also, GTA 6 isn’t out and no marketing has been announced.

Re: New Financial Report Provides Estimated Xbox Series X|S Sales Figure As Of Late 2024

@Banjo- Sonys numbers are sold, not shipped.

https://gamerant.com/ps5-total-sales-november-2024/#:~:text=Sony%20has%20sold%2065.5%20million,same%20point%20in%20its%20lifecycle.

Taking december into account (3.42 million) it is now estimated to be around 71 million sold.

https://www.vgchartz.com/#:~:text=PS5%20Tops%2070M%20Lifetime%20%2D%20Worldwide%20Hardware%20Estimates%20for%20December%202024%20%2D%20Sales&text=The%20PlayStation%205%20was%20the,71.03%20million%20units%20lifetime%20worldwide.

To be clear, this isn't me fanboying (as you have said in the past) or attacking you, just a clarity that your comment it was shipped units isn't accurate.

Have a good weekend gaming. I'm finally gonna get round to cyberpunk i think.

Re: Ninja Gaiden 2 Black Analysis Compares Xbox 360 Original To Unreal Engine 5 Remaster

Just for folks skimming the article, DF don't recommend the 120fps mode on any machine due to juddering.

'The problem here is that the game does not play nicely with frame-rates that fail to lock to 30, 60 or 120fps. Anything in between presents with judder regardless of whether you have VRR enabled or not. It's just an issue with how this game seems to work.'.

Just seems to be something that can hopefully be patched out.

Re: Far Cry New Dawn Getting 60FPS Patch Ahead Of Its Arrival On Xbox Game Pass

Weebleman

@Kaloudz 40fps genuinely does feel like a huge bump over 30. If you do a quick Google for 40fps and digital foundry they explain it far better than I could.

In simplest terms you get an experience that feels a lot smother than 30 but doesn't need to cut back on the graphics side of things like a 60fps does.

The caveat being you need a TV capable of displaying in that mode. I have a C1 LG oled and it's a mode I use anytime it's available. Really does make a hefty difference over 30fps.

Edit: here you go. Apologies to any xbox folks offended that it's in relation to ratchet and clank, it was one of the first to do it and therefore gets a good explanation for it.

Re: Xbox Hardware Declines But 'Content & Services' Grows In FY25 Q2 Earnings Report

Weebleman

@IOI I am interested to see what the innovations are they come up with for the box in development. My only concern is they may push a streaming only machine. It would tick all the 'revolutionary' boxes they mention and cut down on hardware costs, but streaming is just so hit and miss. It's not for me personally but I know some folks in here and other sites are fine with it. Outside the US, the infrastucture just isn't where it needs to be for everyone to get the benefit of it.

In terms of earnings, MS just had 6 billion wiped off its share price thanks to the AI app from China, so no doubt there's a few conversations going on around that.

Its a weird time for all console makers at the minute so it will be interesting to see where they go next. Thats not even taking into account if steam bring a box out as rumours suggest.

Re: Xbox Hardware Declines But 'Content & Services' Grows In FY25 Q2 Earnings Report

Weebleman

If they put Steam on the next xbox or PS (I'd lean more towards xbox for it but both systems have similar hardware) it's a massive gamble. Mainly as it's opening up another storefront that cuts out MS's/PS's own. Games on steam can be picked up a whole lot cheaper than on MS or PS stores. Plus you could buy the game outside the ecosystem and just cut them out entirely.

It would be great for us gamers but, on a business front, its just cutting off a revenue stream.

Re: Xbox On Keeping Games Off Other Platforms: 'That's Not A Path For Us'

Weebleman

@themightyant oh I completely agree that there is valuable information in the numbers, and they can tell you exactly what strategy a company chose and why.

It was more the throwing around of statements (such as the one from the person above), where people make random claims or attempt to use things they don't understand as a yard stick that begins to irk. Don't get me wrong, there's folks on both side of the fence doing it. I never thought id miss the arguments over a 2fps advantage but here we are.

Re: Xbox On Keeping Games Off Other Platforms: 'That's Not A Path For Us'

Weebleman

@Millionski dooming and glooming? Lost me on that. I'm only repeating things that have been said by those people you listed and giving an opinion on where I think its heading. What's that got to do with me enjoying games?

I never said they didn't say they werent releasing a console. I literally said I want them to release one.

If you took my comment about folks becoming accountants personal then that's on you. It was just my observation.

Re: Xbox On Keeping Games Off Other Platforms: 'That's Not A Path For Us'

Weebleman

I said this on another site but do you remember when folks used to argue over frame rates, resolutions and review scores. I much prefer that over this new trend of celebrating profits.

All these people who shout about revenue were likely the ones telling PS players their console was doomed when series X said it had 12 teraflops and PS5 had less. Now they've gone from gaming enthusiasts to armchair accountants.

MS need to stay in the hardware game as it makes both sides better themselves and, ultimately, that benefits us gamers. More so the gamers who pick games over brand loyalty.

Sadly though, if you replace the word 'platform' in that interview with 'publisher', I think you get the truth where Xbox is heading.

Re: Xbox Will Continue To Ship More Games On PlayStation And Nintendo

Weebleman

@MrCarlos46 all of them, apparently. Timed or day one, it's clear they are now all going. Phil was asked directly in another interview if he can confirm Starfield will stay put on Xbox. His answer was simply 'no'. He then reiterated that he isn't locking games to the platform.

I think xbox will continue. I hope so anyway. Competition breeds innovation. Regardless of which platform folks choose, we need the other to push them to be better.
